Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) based in UK, is a charity organization, started its endeavor in 1984 towards sustainable development of poor and ultra poor communities through relief and development interventions. The organization has a vision that is inspired by Islamic faith and guided by core values envisages towards a caring world where communities

are empowered, social obligations are fulfilled and people respond as one to the suffering of others. In 1991, Islamic Relief started working in Bangladesh to respond to devastating cyclone in the south-eastern coastal belt of Bangladesh through relief operations. Later on, the organization has expanded its programme through an integrated approach in the field of livelihoods, child rights and welfare, health and nutrition, sanitation, education, disaster risk reduction and climate change issues. বিশ্ব শিশুশ্রম প্রতিরোধ দিবস উপলক্ষে আমাদের ‘স্কেল’ (SCALE) প্রকল্প আজ কামরাঙ্গীরচরে বিভিন্ন সচেতনতামূলক কর্মসূচি পালন করেছে।

‘শিশুশ্রমের বিরুদ্ধে লাল কার্ড: শিশুদের জন্য ন্যায্য অধিকার, প্রাপ্তবয়স্কদের জন্য শোভন কাজ’—এই প্রতিপাদ্যকে সামনে রেখে আয়োজিত র‍্যালি, মানববন্ধন ও আলোচনা সভায় স্থানীয় অভিভাবক ও শিক্ষকবৃন্দ অংশ নেন।

​আমরা শিশুশ্রমের মূল কারণ চিহ্নিত করে তা নিরসনে স্থানীয় জনগোষ্ঠীর সাথে নিরলসভাবে কাজ করে যাচ্ছি। আসুন, সম্মিলিত প্রচেষ্টায় শিশুদের জন্য একটি নিরাপদ ভবিষ্যৎ নিশ্চিত করি।

হঠাৎ স্ট্রোক করে স্বামী মারা যাওয়ার পর শেফালী বিশ্বাসের পৃথিবীটা যেন এক নিমিষেই অন্ধকার হয়ে গিয়েছিল। খুলনার এক ছোট শহরে একা হাতে ছেলেকে বড় করা আর তার পড়াশোনার খরচ চালানো—প্রতিটি দিন যেন ছিল এক একটি লড়াই। সংসারের অভাব-অনটনে দিশেহারা শেফালী ভেবেছিলেন, তিনি হয়তো আর কখনোই ঘুরে দাঁড়াতে পারবেন না।

কিন্তু অদম্য ইচ্ছাশক্তি আর সঠিক সহযোগিতা থাকলে ঘুরে দাঁড়ানো যে সম্ভব, তা প্রমাণ করেছেন শেফালী। তার পাশে এসে দাঁড়িয়েছে ইসলামিক রিলিফ বাংলাদেশের ‘এনহ্যান্সিং ওয়েলবিং অফ এক্সট্রিম পুওর ফিশারম্যান কমিউনিটি’ (EFC) প্রকল্প।

প্রকল্পের মাধ্যমে প্রশিক্ষণ, নগদ সহায়তা এবং সুদমুক্ত ঋণের (করজে হাসানা) সুবিধা পেয়ে শেফালীর জীবনের মোড় ঘুরে যায়। নিজের সেলাই কাজের পাশাপাশি তিনি মাছ চাষ এবং হাঁস-মুরগি পালন শুরু করেন। সেই সঙ্গে প্রতিবেশীর গরু দেখাশোনা করে ছেলের জন্য দুধের ব্যবস্থা এবং বাড়তি আয়ের পথ তৈরি করেছেন তিনি।

আজ শেফালী একজন আত্মবিশ্বাসী নারী। তিনি এখন শুধু একজন সফল উদ্যোক্তাই নন, নিজের এলাকার ‘সেলফ হেল্প গ্রুপ’-এর ক্যাশিয়ার হিসেবেও দক্ষতার সঙ্গে দায়িত্ব পালন করছেন। শেফালী বলেন, “এই প্রকল্প কেবল আমাকে নিজের পায়ে দাঁড়াতে সাহায্য করেনি, বরং বিভিন্ন কাজের মাধ্যমে আয় বাড়িয়ে দারিদ্র্যকে জয় করতে শিখিয়েছে।”

দক্ষিণ বাংলাদেশের সুবিধাবঞ্চিত জেলে পরিবারগুলোর নারীদের ভাগ্যের পরিবর্তন ঘটিয়ে, দারিদ্র্যের চক্র ভেঙে নতুন আশার আলো ছড়াচ্ছে আমাদের এই EFC প্রকল্প। শেফালীর মতো এমন হাজারো নারীর সফলতার গল্প আমাদের অনুপ্রেরণা জোগায়।

For years, Sheuli Biswas struggled alone. After her husband died suddenly from a stroke, she felt like she was drowning in a sea of pain, with no one to turn to. A single mother in Khulna, every day was a battle to feed her son and keep his education alive.

Through our Enhancing Wellbeing of Extreme Poor Fisherman Community (EFC) project, she found the lifeline she desperately needed.

With training, cash support, and a Qard Al Hassan interest-free loan, she expanded her tailoring work, ventured into fish farming, and raised a small poultry flock. She also began caring for a neighbour’s cow, securing a daily supply of fresh milk for her son and a steady small income.

But her greatest victory came when she realized she had built something she once thought impossible—multiple sources of income that made her family safe. “This project taught me to earn from many sectors,” she says. “I never imagined this was possible.”

Today, Sheuli is the confident Cashier of her Self Help Group and a thriving entrepreneur full of hope.

The EFC project empowers women from extreme poor fishing communities in southern Bangladesh to build sustainable livelihoods and break the cycle of poverty for good.

বিশ্ব খাদ্য কর্মসূচি (WFP)-এর একটি প্রতিনিধিদল সম্প্রতি ভাসানচরে জোরপূর্বক বাস্তুচ্যুত মিয়ানমারের নাগরিকদের জন্য ইসলামিক রিলিফ বাংলাদেশ বাস্তবায়িত জীবিকা উন্নয়ন কার্যক্রম পরিদর্শন করেছেন।

পরিদর্শনকালে তারা বস্তায় সবজি ও আদা চাষের মতো কৃষি প্রযুক্তিগুলো দেখেন এবং সরাসরি উপকারভোগীদের মুখ থেকে তাদের সাফল্যের গল্প শোনেন। প্রতিনিধি দলটি বিশেষ করে উচ্চমূল্যের ফসল উৎপাদনের অর্থনৈতিক সম্ভাবনা এবং 'লিড ফার্মার' বা দক্ষ কৃষকদের প্রশিক্ষণের মাধ্যমে পুরো কমিউনিটিকে স্বাবলম্বী করে তোলার মডেলটির ভূয়সী প্রশংসা করেছেন। তাদের মতে, অভিজ্ঞ কৃষকদের মাধ্যমে দক্ষতা হস্তান্তরের এই প্রক্রিয়া রোহিঙ্গা কমিউনিটির খাদ্য নিরাপত্তা ও টেকসই উন্নয়নে অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখবে।

ভাসানচরে রোহিঙ্গা জনগোষ্ঠীর টেকসই জীবিকা ও কৃষি উন্নয়নে পাশে থাকার জন্য বিশ্ব খাদ্য কর্মসূচিকে (WFP) আন্তরিক ধন্যবাদ জানাই।

A delegation from the World Food Programme (WFP) recently visited Islamic Relief Bangladesh's livelihood initiatives for Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals (FDMN) in Bhasan Char.

The team explored innovative agricultural techniques, including sack-bag vegetable and ginger cultivation, and heard inspiring success stories from community members. The delegation commended these initiatives, highlighting the potential of high-value crops and the importance of empowering 'lead farmers' to mentor the community. They noted that this skills transfer model is essential for long-term food security and sustainable development.

We sincerely thank World Food Programme for their continued support in building resilient livelihoods for the Rohingya population in Bhasan Char.

বিশ্ব শিশুশ্রম প্রতিরোধ দিবসে আমাদের অঙ্গীকার হোক একটাই—কোনো শিশুই যেন কাজের চাপে শৈশব না হারায়। শিক্ষা আর আনন্দের মাঝেই প্রতিটি শিশুর বেড়ে ওঠা উচিত, কোনো ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ কর্মক্ষেত্রে নয়।

এ বছরের প্রতিপাদ্য, "শিশুশ্রমের বিরুদ্ধে লাল কার্ড: শিশুদের জন্য সঠিক পরিবেশ, বড়দের জন্য শোভন কাজ"—আমাদের মনে করিয়ে দেয় যে, শিশুদের জায়গা স্কুলে, কোনো ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ কর্মক্ষেত্রে নয়।

গত ৯ ও ১০ জুন সিলেটে স্টার্ট ফান্ড-এর সহায়তায় ইসলামিক রিলিফ বাংলাদেশ বাস্তবায়িত বন্যা মোকাবিলা ও পূর্বপ্রস্তুতিমূলক প্রকল্পের অভিজ্ঞতা বিনিময় কর্মশালা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। এই কর্মশালার মূল উদ্দেশ্য ছিল মাঠ পর্যায়ের বাস্তব অভিজ্ঞতাগুলো বিশ্লেষণ করা এবং ভবিষ্যতের আপদকালীন সহায়তা কার্যক্রমকে আরও কার্যকর করে তোলা।

কর্মশালায় মাল্টিপারপাস ক্যাশ , গবাদি পশুর খাদ্য সহায়তা, কমিউনিটি ফিডব্যাক মেকানিজম, এমইএএল থেকে প্রাপ্ত তথ্য, সেফগার্ডিং এবং সমন্বয়ের মতো বিষয়গুলো নিয়ে বিশদ আলোচনা হয়। অংশগ্রহণকারীরা কাজের সফল দিকগুলো তুলে ধরার পাশাপাশি মাঠ পর্যায়ে যেসব চ্যালেঞ্জের মুখোমুখি হতে হয়েছিল, তা নিয়ে পর্যালোচনা করেছেন এবং ভবিষ্যতে কাজের মান উন্নয়নে প্রয়োজনীয় সুপারিশ তুলে ধরেছেন।

দুর্যোগকবলিত মানুষের কাছে আরও স্বচ্ছতা ও দ্রুততার সাথে মানবিক সহায়তা পৌঁছে দিতে আমরা প্রতিজ্ঞাবদ্ধ। এই কর্মশালা থেকে পাওয়া শিক্ষা আমাদের ভবিষ্যতের দুর্যোগ প্রস্তুতি ও আপদকালীন সহায়তা কার্যক্রমকে আরও শক্তিশালী করবে।

On 9–10 June 2026, Islamic Relief Bangladesh organised a lesson learned workshop for the Start Fund Bangladesh -supported anticipatory action & emergency flood response projects at Hotel Metro, Sylhet. The event brought together project teams and relevant colleagues to reflect on field experiences and strengthen future emergency responses.

Through structured discussions, participants reviewed key interventions including multi-purpose cash grants, cattle fodder support, community feedback mechanisms, MEAL findings, safeguarding, and coordination. They highlighted effective approaches, examined operational challenges, and identified practical recommendations for future improvement.

Every insight from this workshop strengthens our commitment to more accountable, timely, and community-centred humanitarian action. By learning from experience, we continue to improve our emergency preparedness and response for vulnerable communities.

তিন সন্তানকে নিয়ে দুবেলা ঠিকমতো খেয়ে-পরে বেঁচে থাকাই ছিল রোকসানার সবচেয়ে বড় সংগ্রাম। দিনমজুর স্বামীর অনিয়মিত আয়ে সংসার চলতো তিন সন্তানকে নিয়ে দুবেলা ঠিকমতো খেয়ে-পরে বেঁচে থাকাই ছিল রোকসানার সবচেয়ে বড় সংগ্রাম। দিনমজুর স্বামীর অনিয়মিত আয়ে সংসার চলতো চরম অনিশ্চয়তায়।

আমাদের ‘সিড’ (SEED) প্রকল্পের আওতায় ব্যবসা পরিচালনার প্রশিক্ষণ এবং ২৫,০০০ টাকার আর্থিক অনুদান পেয়ে তিনি গবাদিপশু ও হাঁস-মুরগি পালন শুরু করেন। এরপর নিজের জমানো টাকায় ১০০টি ডিম ধারণক্ষমতার একটি ইনকিউবেটর কিনে বাণিজ্যিকভাবে বাচ্চা ফুটানোর ব্যবসা শুরু করেন।

আজ রোকসানার সংসারে ফিরেছে সচ্ছলতা। সন্তানেরা নিয়মিত স্কুলে যাচ্ছে, পরিবারের পুষ্টির অভাব দূর হয়েছে এবং কেটে গেছে অর্থনৈতিক টানাপোড়েন।

রোকসানা বলেন, “একসময় সন্তানদের মুখে খাবার তুলে দেওয়া নিয়েই দিনরাত চিন্তায় থাকতাম। আর আজ আমি নিজের পায়ে দাঁড়িয়েছি, নিজের হাতে আয় করছি।”

রোকসানার এই সাফল্য প্রমাণ করে, একজন নারীকে স্বাবলম্বী করে তুললে পুরো পরিবারের চেহারা বদলে যায়।

Meet Roksana, a determined mother of three who once struggled daily to feed her family. With her husband’s irregular income, life was uncertain.

Through our SEED project, Roksana received entrepreneurship training and a BDT 25,000 grant. She started rearing livestock and poultry, and later invested in a 100-egg incubator, turning egg hatching into a growing business.

Today, her children attend school regularly, her family eats better, and financial stress has eased. “Once I worried about feeding my children. Today, I earn with my own hands,” she says.

Roksana’s journey shows how supporting women can transform the entire families out of vulnerability.

আজ ঈদের তৃতীয় দিন। যখন সবাই পরিবারের সাথে আনন্দ ভাগাভাগি করছেন, তখন ইসলামিক রিলিফ বাংলাদেশের কর্মীরা ব্যস্ত রোহিঙ্গা ক্যাম্প ২৬-এ কোরবানির মাংস পৌঁছে দিতে।

ঈদের দ্বিতীয় দিনে হঠাৎ আসা আরও ২১৪টি কোরবানির দায়িত্ব নেওয়া ছিল এক পর্বতসম চ্যালেঞ্জ। টানা কয়েকদিনের ক্লান্তিকর পরিশ্রম আর তীব্র পশুর সংকটের মাঝেও নিজের ছুটির মায়া ত্যাগ করে গভীর রাতে সুস্থ-সবল গরু নিয়ে ক্যাম্পে পৌঁছান আমাদের মানবিক যোদ্ধারা।

আজ ৯টি ব্লকের ২,১৯০টি রোহিঙ্গা পরিবারের মুখে ফুটেছে তৃপ্তির হাসি।

On the 3rd day of Eid, while everyone celebrates with family, Islamic Relief Bangladesh team is on a mission distributing fresh Qurbani meat at Rohingya Camp 26.

Facing a sudden challenge on the 2nd day to arrange 214 more Qurbani animals amid cattle shortages and exhausted staff, our humanitarians sacrificed their Eid holidays. Working through the night, they secured healthy cattle. Today, 2,190 families across 9 blocks received meat and love.
