আবহাওয়া অধিদপ্তরের পরিচালক মো. মমিনুল ইসলাম জানিয়েছেন, চলতি মাসে ২ থেকে ৩টি শৈত্যপ্রবাহ হবে মৃদু থেকে মাঝারি তাপমাত্রার (৮-১০ ডিগ্রি থেকে ৬-৮ ডিগ্রি সেলসিয়াস)। এবং ১ থেকে ২টি শৈত্যপ্রবাহ হবে মাঝারি থেকে তীব্র (৬-৮ ডিগ্রি থেকে ৪-৬ ডিগ্রি সেলসিয়াস)।
কনকনে এই শীতে যখন আমরা উষ্ণ ঘরের কোণে নিরাপদ, ঠিক তখনই রাস্তার ধারের কোনো এক বৃদ্ধ, খোলা আকাশের নিচে থাকা কোনো শিশু কিংবা সম্বলহীন কোনো পরিবার তীব্র ঠান্ডায় মানবেতর জীবন যাপন করছে। হাড়কাঁপানো এই শীতে তাদের একটু উষ্ণতা দিতে আমাদের এই ক্ষুদ্র প্রচেষ্টা— "আমাদের উষ্ণতার আয়োজন"।

​আমাদের লক্ষ্য, সমাজের অবহেলিত ও শীতার্ত মানুষের মাঝে মানসম্মত শীতের কম্বল এবং অন্যান্য উষ্ণ কাপড় পৌঁছে দেওয়া। তবে এই মহৎ উদ্যোগ সফল করতে আপনার আর্থিক সহযোগিতা একান্ত প্রয়োজন।

As winter approaches, many individuals and families across the country prepare to face the challenges that come with the cold season. At RISE, we believe that no one should have to endure winter without warmth, dignity, and support.

With this purpose in mind, we are humbled to launch "উষ্ণতার আয়োজন ২০২৫"—an initiative dedicated to helping those most affected by the harsh winter weather. This year, our efforts will include:

Collecting warm clothing for distribution

Raising funds to provide essential winter items

Ensuring that all contributions reach the people who need them the most

Since the on-campus booth will not be possible due to the closure of on-campus activities, we are seeking volunteers from FBS, especially those who are familiar with communities or areas in need and who would benefit from this campaign.

If you or someone you know can contribute, support, or connect us with people who need assistance, please let us know. Together, we can make this winter a little warmer for those who need it most.

এই যে সুন্দর হাসি দেওয়া মেয়েটা আমার বান্ধবী দোলা। খুবই অসাধারণ একটা মেয়ে, যদিও বাড়ি নারায়ণগঞ্জ। ওর বাড়িতে গিয়েছি আমরা, ওর ভাইয়ের বিয়েতে কবজি ডুবিয়ে খেয়েছি। বছর তিনেক হলো ও বিয়ে করেছে আমার ডিপার্টমেন্টের সিনিয়র ভাইকে, প্রেম করে বিয়ে করেছে তারা। এই কয়দিনে বেশ সবকিছু গুছিয়েও নিয়েছিল বলা যায়। ভাই সরকারি চাকরি করে বিআরটিএতে আর ও মাইলস্টোনে শিক্ষকতা করে। দোলার সাথে আমার দেখা নাই বছর তিনেক হবে, মানে ওর বিয়ের পরে আর দেখা হয়নি। ঐদিন আমি আর ও বহুকাল পর ডিপার্টমেন্টে গেলাম অর্পন ভাইয়ের চিকিৎসার জন্য সাহায্য চাইতে। আমাদের দেখা এভাবে হবে কল্পনাতেও ছিল না।
ওদের এত সুন্দর একটা সংসার হয়েছে, যা বেশ কিছুদিন ধরেই একটা সংকটে আটকে গেছে। কিছুদিন আগেই জেনেছি অর্পন (২৩ তম ব্যাচ,নৃবিজ্ঞান বিভাগ,ঢাবি) ভাইয়ের দুটো কিডনি বিকল হয়ে গেছে, জরুরি ভিত্তিতে কিডনি ট্রান্সপ্লান্ট করাতে হবে। কিডনি ট্রান্সপ্লান্ট করাতে নিয়ে যেতে হবে ইরানে। ওরা সবকিছু প্রায় ম্যানেজই করতে গিয়েও শেষ পর্যন্ত আটকে গেছে। ভাইয়ের চিকিৎসার জন্য ৫০ লক্ষ টাকার একটা হিসাব আমাদের কাছে এসেছে, এর বাইরে কত খরচ আছে হিসেব করে শেষ করা যাবে না।
ও কূলকিনারা না পেয়ে আমাদের জানিয়েছে বিষয়টা কী করা যায়। আমরা দিনশেষে আমাদের পরিবারের কাছে ফেরত গেছি, নৃবিজ্ঞান ডিপার্টমেন্টের সহায়তা আমরা পাবো ধরেই এগিয়ে যাচ্ছি।
আমি ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় নৃবিজ্ঞান বিভাগের সংশ্লিষ্ট যত লোকজন আছেন সবাইকে এই অর্পন ভাইয়ের পাশে দাঁড়ানোর অনুরোধ করছি। দুই মাসের মধ্যেই ভাইকে ইরান নিয়ে কিডনি ট্রান্সপ্লান্ট করাতে হবে। এছাড়াও অন্য যারা আছেন, সবার সহায়তা এক্ষেত্রে একান্ত কাম্য। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সাবেক হওয়াতে আমাদের পক্ষে অনেক কিছু করা সম্ভব হচ্ছে না, তাই আমরা চাইছি নৃবিজ্ঞান বিভাগের বর্তমান স্টুডেন্টরা এই বিষয়ে সহযোগিতা করুন।
একটা সুন্দর সংসার, একটা সুন্দর জীবনের জন্য আমরা অর্পন ভাইয়ের পাশে দাঁড়াতে চাই।

ফিলিস্তিন নিয়ে আমাদের প্রতিবাদ কিছুটা স্থিমিত হলেও, ফিলিস্তিনের উপর আক্রমণ, দমন-পীড়ন ও নারী-শিশু-সাংবাদিকসহ নিরীহ মানুষ হত্যার নির্মমতা এক মুহূর্তের জন্যও কমেনি। গাজার উপর চাপানো খাদ্য অবরোধ ভাঙার লক্ষ্যে ইতোমধ্যে বিশ্বের ৪৪টি দেশ থেকে শত শত অধিকারকর্মী আবারও ত্রাণতরী নিয়ে রওনা হয়েছেন গাজার উদ্দেশ্যে।

ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার্থী হিসেবে আমরা এই গণহত্যার বিরুদ্ধে ননস্টপ ভয়েস রেইজ করতে এবং গ্লোবাল ফ্লোটিলাকে সমর্থন জানাতে "সলিডারিটি মার্চ"-এ অংশ নেবো।

Today, a peaceful student movement for rightful demands turned into a scene of violence. Engineering students from BUET, University of Dhaka, and other universities gathered at Shahbagh, raising their voices for a 3-point demand:

1. The title “Engineer” must not be used by diploma engineers.
2. Recruit 9th grade only BSc engineers via competitive exams with no quotas,
3. Open 10th grade to both BSc and diploma engineers via exams

But instead of hearing their demands, the students were met with tear gas, sound grenades, and police brutality near Hotel Intercontinental. The very future of our nation—the students—were forced to face violence while raising their voices for fairness and justice.

This is not law enforcement; this is oppression. When students are attacked, the nation bleeds.

Yet another gem of our country, Bholaganj's Shada Pathor, is on the verge of losing its beauty due to continuous stone and sand extraction. This illegal looting is destroying the riverbed, stripping away the stones that make it a popular tourist attraction. It's been claimed that approximately "200" crore worth of white stones have been looted in a year. This environmental degradation calls for urgent action to protect one of our country's most cherished natural sites before it's too late.
