মোরেলগঞ্জ উপজেলার উপজেলা নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা ডর্‌প এর কার্যক্রমের প্রশংসা করে বলেন, লবণাক্ততার কারণে উপজেলার অনেক মানুষ নিরাপদ পানির সংকটে বৃষ্টির পানি ও পুকুরের ওপর নির্ভরশীল। তাদের জন্য নিরাপদ পানির ব্যবস্থা করায় তিনি ডর্‌পকে ধন্যবাদ জানান। পাশাপাশি তিনি এ উদ্যোগে সহযোগিতার জন্য হেলভেটাস বাংলাদেশ ও চ্যারিটি: ওয়াটারকেও আন্তরিক ধন্যবাদ জানান।
The Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Morrelganj Upazila appreciated DORP’s activities and noted that, due to salinity, many people in the upazila face safe drinking water shortages and depend on rainwater and ponds. He thanked DORP for ensuring access to safe water for these communities. He also expressed his sincere gratitude to Helvetas Bangladesh and charity: water for their support in this initiative.

৩৬তম আন্তর্জাতিক প্রবীণ দিবস উপলক্ষে সমাজকল্যাণ মন্ত্রণালয়ের উদ্যোগে সমাজসেবা অধিদপ্তর আয়োজিত র‍্যালি ও আলোচনা সভায় অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন মাননীয় মন্ত্রী অধ্যাপক ডা. এ জেট এম জাহিদ হোসেন, এমপি। প্রবীণ ও নবীনদের অংশগ্রহণে অনুষ্ঠানটি প্রাণবন্ত হয়ে ওঠে। এবারের প্রতিপাদ্য “দীর্ঘ জীবনের জন্য নতুন ভাবনা”। প্রবীণরা আমাদের সমাজের মূল্যবান সম্পদ। তাঁদের অভিজ্ঞতা ও জ্ঞানকে সম্মান করে প্রবীণবান্ধব ও মানবিক সমাজ গড়ে তোলাই আমাদের সকলের দায়িত্ব।

🚭 Gazipur City Corporation Committed to a To***co-Free Environment

Gazipur City Corporation has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a to***co-free environment across all its offices, protecting employees and citizens from the harmful effects of to***co and secondhand smoke.

At a discussion meeting jointly organized by Gazipur City Corporation and DORP on 5 October 2026, stakeholders emphasized effective enforcement of the Smoking and To***co Products Usage (Control) Act, 2005 (Amended 2026), institutional strengthening, public sensitization, and coordinated action to build healthier and safer workplaces.

Advancing the Vision of a To***co and Smoke Free University of Dhaka 🚭

A discussion meeting on “The Legal Obligations of the University of Dhaka to Ensure a To***co and Smoke Free Campus and the Role of the Dhaka University Journalists Association” was held on Tuesday, September 29, at the Shaheed Mofazzal Haider Chowdhury Auditorium, Faculty of Arts, University of Dhaka.

Jointly organized by the Development Organisation of the Rural Poor-DORP and the Dhaka University Journalists Association (DUJA), the discussion focused on the relevant provisions of the amended to***co control law, the institutional responsibilities of the University of Dhaka, and the role of responsible, evidence based journalism in advancing to***co control and protecting public health.

পাইকগাছার বাঁকা পশ্চিমে প্রান্তিক জনগোষ্ঠীর জন্য একটি নতুন সৌরচালিত পন্ড স্যান্ড ফিল্টার (PSF) স্থাপন করা হয়েছে, যা নিরাপদ পানীয় জল সরবরাহ করবে। PSFটির উদ্বোধন করেন খুলনা জেলার পাইকগাছা উপজেলা নির্বাহী অফিসার (ইউএনও) জনাব ওয়াসীউজ্জামান চৌধুরী।
charity: water এর অর্থায়নে Helvetas Bangladesh এর কারিগরি সহায়তায় এবং DORP এর IWASH প্রকল্পের মাধ্যমে বাস্তবায়িত এই উদ্যোগের লক্ষ্য হলো জলবায়ু পরিবর্তন ও লবণাক্ততার চ্যালেঞ্জ মোকাবিলা করে উপকূলীয় জনগোষ্ঠীর জন্য টেকসই নিরাপদ পানির ব্যবস্থা নিশ্চিত করা।
(A new solar powered Pond Sand Filter (PSF) has been established in Baka West, Paikgachha, providing safe drinking water for marginalized communities. The PSF was inaugurated by Mr. Wasiuman Chowdhury, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Paikgachha, Khulna. Funded by charity: water, with technical support from Helvetas Bangladesh and implemented by DORP’s IWASH Project, this initiative aims to ensure sustainable access to safe drinking water while addressing the challenges of climate change and salinity in coastal communities.)
