On the occasion of International Domestic Workers Day, a National Consultation on “Strengthening Protection and Labour Rights of Domestic Workers in Bangladesh” was held in collaboration with the Domestic Workers Rights Network (DWRN).

The consultation featured the presentation of a 10-point demand by a domestic worker, highlighting key measures needed to ensure the rights, protection, and dignity of domestic workers in Bangladesh. This was followed by an engaging dialogue among domestic workers, trade union leaders, and representatives from civil society organizations (CSOs).

During the discussion, domestic workers directly voiced their concerns, experiences, and demands to trade union leaders and other stakeholders, calling for stronger legal protections, recognition of their work, fair working conditions, and the effective implementation of policies that safeguard their rights and dignity. The consultation provided an important platform for collective reflection and commitment toward advancing decent work and social justice for domestic workers.

On the occasion of International Domestic Workers Day 2026, Bangladesh Nari Sramik Kendra (BNSK), in collaboration with the Domestic Workers Rights Network (DWRN), organized a human chain at the National Press Club. The event brought together domestic workers, trade union leaders, BNSK members, and other stakeholders, who collectively amplified their voices in support of the rights and dignity of domestic workers. Through vibrant slogans and powerful messages, participants called for recognition, protection, and equal rights for domestic workers, highlighting the importance of ensuring justice and dignity for all workers.

গৃহশ্রমিকের মর্যাদা ও অধিকার মানবাধিকার।

গৃহকর্ম একটি প্রকৃত কাজ। গৃহকর্মে নিয়োজিত লাখো শ্রমিকদের বেতন, ভাতা ও শ্রম ঘণ্টা নিশ্চিত করা আমাদের দায়িত্ব। BNSK

আইএলও কনভেনশন নং ১৮৯ গৃহীত হওয়ার পনেরো বছর পরেও এই বার্তাটি অত্যন্ত জরুরি: বিশ্বজুড়ে পরিবার, অর্থনীতি এবং সমাজকে টিকিয়ে রাখার জন্য গৃহকর্মীরা অপরিহার্য সেবা ও সহায়তা প্রদান করেন।

গৃহকর্মকে স্বীকৃতি দেওয়ার অর্থ হলো সেইসব মানুষকে স্বীকৃতি দেওয়া, যাদের কাজ অন্য সব কাজকে সম্ভব করে তোলে।

গৃহকর্মীরা অধিকার, সুরক্ষা, মর্যাদা এবং শোভন কাজের যোগ্য।
