Educo Bangladesh, in collaboration with its implementing partner Samaj Kalyan O Unnayan Shangstha-SKUS, observed the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction in Cox’s Bazar.

Under the theme “Resilience Starts at Home,” activities included a rally, essay writing and drawing competitions in the host community in collaboration with the Upazila Parishad. In Camp 8E, participants took part in a discussion on disaster risk reduction, an art competition, an interactive quiz, and a prize-giving ceremony.

These activities raised awareness of disaster preparedness, climate risks, and community resilience, encouraging families and young people to take an active role in building safer communities.

Every year on 13 October, the world observes the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDR) to raise awareness of reducing disaster risks and strengthening preparedness and resilience. The 2026 theme, ‘Resilience Starts at Home’, highlights that disaster preparedness begins at the household level and grows through safer schools and resilient communities.

To mark the day, Educo Bangladesh participated in the national observance organised by the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre (BCFCC), Dhaka. The event was graced by the Honourable President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, as the Chief Guest.

Educo Bangladesh showcased its disaster risk reduction (DRR) initiatives through an exhibition stall featuring publications, awareness materials, school safety guidelines and mock drill activities. The stall was visited by the Honourable Minister of Disaster Management and Relief, Mr Asadul Habib Dulu, who appreciated Educo’s contributions in Bangladesh’s coastal regions.

Educo remains committed to empowering children, families and communities to build a safer, more disaster-resilient Bangladesh.

𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮-𝗣𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 (𝗥𝗖𝗢𝗬 𝗔𝗣𝗔𝗖)-𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗩𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Educo Bangladesh was pleased to participate in the Regional Conference of Youth for Asia-Pacific (RCOY APAC) 2026, held from 3–6 October at BRAC University, Dhaka, more than 500 young people from 28 countries, including over 100 international delegates, to foster regional dialogue, strengthen youth leadership and shape collective priorities for climate action.

Three young people from Educo-supported Adolescent and Youth Clubs joined the conference, with Mukta Rani representing youth perspectives and community experiences in discussions contributing to the Regional Youth Statement ahead of COP31.

Alongside youth participation, Educo Bangladesh highlighted its youth-led climate and resilience work through a dedicated stall, engaging with NGOs, INGOs and climate actors from across the region to exchange knowledge, experiences and approaches.

Through opportunities like these, Educo Bangladesh continues to support adolescents and young people in raising their voices, influencing decisions, and contributing to climate solutions at local, national, and regional levels.

𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻!

Educo Bangladesh recently had a fruitful and constructive meeting with Hon’ble Mr. Bobby Hajjaj MP, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education, to discuss strengthening primary education and expanding learning opportunities for every child.

The discussion focused on improving education quality, creating more inclusive and supportive school environments, strengthening community engagement, and advancing Remedial Education and the SEND Framework. The meeting also highlighted opportunities to strengthen educational access for children engaged in child labour and other marginalised children.

We sincerely thank the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and Hon’ble Mr. Bobby Hajjaj, MP for providing Educo Bangladesh the opportunity to engage in this important dialogue. We look forward to continue collaboration towards a safer, more inclusive and quality education system for every child.

Educo Bangladesh, in collaboration with its implementing partners Samaj Kalyan O Unnayan Shangstha-SKUS and Friends In Village Development Bangladesh - FIVDB, jointly participated in the LSDS Product Fair 2026, organised by the Livelihood Skills Development Sector (LSDS) on 29–30 September 2026.

Over the two-day fair, we hosted a stall showcasing a diverse range of sewing and handicraft products created by women learners participating in the Women and Girls Safe Space (WGSS) and Multi-Purpose Centre (MPC) programmes in both refugee camps and host communities.

The fair brought together various actors working in the livelihood sector, creating an opportunity for meaningful interaction, networking, and collaboration. Visitors explored the products, engaged with the stall, and purchased several items, providing valuable encouragement and recognition to the women learners. It also strengthened opportunities for collaboration and market linkages among livelihood actors and contributed to promoting women’s economic empowerment in both the camps and host communities.

𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁𝘀

Dipali Bonarji, a mother from Khajurichara Tea Garden, joined the WAVE Project in January 2025, implemented by IDEA and supported by Educo Bangladesh. Before then, she had limited knowledge about child nutrition and balanced diets. Her family’s meals mainly consisted of rice and curry, with few vegetables or protein-rich foods.

Through regular nutrition awareness sessions and cooking demonstrations at Mondirpara ECD Centre, Dipali learned how to prepare affordable and nutritious meals using locally available ingredients.

Today, she regularly includes vegetables, eggs and pulses in her son Nobel’s meals and for her family members, while following better hygiene practices at home. Over time, she has noticed positive changes in Nobel. He is now more active, attentive and healthier.

For Dipali, learning about nutrition has translated into everyday habits that are helping her family make healthier choices.
