On 29 August, Global Shapers Dhaka Hub had the second monthly meeting under the new Curatorship.

We spent the day discussing our new roles and responsibilities for upcoming projects and activities. It was a great opportunity to exchange ideas and get everyone on the same page about where we want to take the Hub in the months ahead.

We successfully held the monthly meeting with maximum participation followed by lunch hosted at The Stories Cafe. After the meeting we headed to the Botanical Garden to spend the afternoon in nature and engaged in team building activities.

LIFT (Libraries Inspiring Futures Together) is a Global Shapers Dhaka Hub initiative that sets up mini-libraries in underserved schools to spark curiosity, reading, and imagination among young students.

After successfully launching our first mini-library with 260+ books, weโ€™re now expanding LIFT to more schools and we need your support to make it happen.

We are excited to announce that Waiz Rahim, an alumnus of Global Shapers Dhaka, has been appointed as the first Managing Director & CEO of Bangladesh Startup Investment Company (BSIC).

BSIC is the first of its kind $35m USD (Tk. 425 crore) venture capital fund, created to invest in the best founders & companies that Bangladesh produces.

As a former founder, he raised over $2.5 million in global Seed and Series A funding for Deligram, gaining firsthand experience in building products, achieving product-market fit, scaling teams, and navigating challenging business environments.

He later joined Sturgeon Capital, a $300 million VC/PE fund backed by global investors including the IFC, as a Venture Partner, gaining insight into investment, due diligence, portfolio management, and supporting founders in scaling their ventures.

We wish Waiz Rahim Bhai every success in his new role and look forward to BSICโ€™s continued contribution to building a stronger, more sustainable startup investment ecosystem in Bangladesh.

Kicking off the new curatorship cohort 2026-2027 with our first monthly hub meeting!

Dhaka Hub members gathered for breakfast followed by the monthly meeting where we discussed ongoing recruitment updates to upcoming hub activities. It was a great session filled with ideas, conversations, and collaboration as we mapped out our priorities for the first quarter.

The Global Shapers Dhaka Community is pleased to welcome its new Curatorship for 2026-27.

The new leadership team will be led by Mehedi Islam Akash as Curator, alongside Nafis Sadik as Vice Curator and Poushi Razzaque as Impact Officer. Together, they will lead the Hubโ€™s next chapter, driving impactful initiatives, strengthening our community, and expanding the Dhaka Hubโ€™s contribution to local and global change.

They take over from the 2025-26 Curatorship, led by outgoing Curator Fairuz Joyeeta and her curatorship team, whose dedication and efforts helped strengthen the Hub over the past year.

Building on that foundation, the new Curatorship is set to carry the momentum forward and make 2026-27 another impactful year for the Global Shapers Community Dhaka.
