The GroupMappers team recently joined the 𝟮-𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲-𝗦𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮, held on 𝟭–𝟮 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 at icddr,b, Dhaka.

Organized by the 𝗖𝗦𝗜𝗗 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 and 𝗶𝗰𝗱𝗱𝗿,𝗯, the convening brought together researchers, public health professionals, policymakers, and practitioners from across the region to explore how climate change is reshaping infectious disease risks and how we can strengthen preparedness and response.

The discussions focused on several critical areas:

Our Founder, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗿. 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗲, also joined the convening and contributed to the scientific session with a presentation titled 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀: 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲.

For GroupMappers, the convening was an important opportunity to exchange ideas and perspectives on how 𝗴𝗲𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮, 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆-𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴, and 𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲-𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 can contribute to understanding and responding to climate-sensitive health risks.

The intern will support the team in:
• Literature review and manuscript preparation
• Report writing and documentation

• GIS and geospatial data-related activities
• Other research and project-related tasks as required

We are pleased to collaborate with the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT)’s Open Mapping Hub - Asia-Pacific on the Dhaka Dengue Mapping Project. Looking forward to working together to strengthen community-led geospatial approaches for public health.

The Dhaka Dengue Mapping Project (part of “Revolutionising Use of Geospatial Data for Climate-Health and Infectious Diseases”) is an initiative by Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT)’s Open Mapping Hub - Asia-Pacific implemented in partnership with GroupMappers (part of MORU Tropical Health Network), funded by Wellcome Trust.

The GroupMappers Team was pleased to participate in the two-day workshop series on Climate-Resilient Health Systems, organized by the National Malaria Elimination and Aedes Transmitted Diseases Control Program, held at Sheraton Dhaka, Banani on 3–4 May 2026.

The first day focused on Climate-Informed Surveillance, Early Warning and Response Systems (EWARS), Community Systems Strengthening, and Sustainability Pathways, highlighting how climate information can be integrated into public health decision-making and disease surveillance systems.

The second day brought together policymakers, development partners, and technical experts for a High-Level Policy Dialogue on Climate-Resilient Health Systems, emphasizing multisectoral coordination, governance mechanisms, and the integration of climate resilience into the Global Fund GC8 framework.

The discussions reinforced the importance of data-driven planning, community engagement, and cross-sector collaboration in addressing the growing health challenges posed by climate change. As an organization working in geospatial technology, community mapping, and public health, GroupMappers remains committed to supporting evidence-based approaches that strengthen resilient and sustainable health systems.

We sincerely thank the organizers for creating a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration.

𝐖𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠!

Position: GIS Analyst
Vacancies: 8

We are hiring GIS Analysts for the upcoming Mass Dog Vaccination (MDV) campaign of National Rabies Elimination Program (NREP), Communicable Disease Control (CDC), Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

GroupMappers has been working with the MDV program since 2018, supporting their campaigns with GIS support, including training, data collection, field mapping, team coordination, data management and real-time data updates in the field.

A total of two campaigns will take place between 2 January 2026 and 18 January 2026. For each campaign, candidates must stay 8 days in different upazilas of Chattogram district.

Requirements:
Basic understanding of GIS
Personal laptop capable of GIS work
Android smartphone
Full availability during the campaign timeline

Two Mandatory office training will be held between Sunday 28 December 2025 and 1 January 2026 from 10 AM to 6 PM in GroupMappers office conference room.

Attendance in training is compulsory for shortlisted selected candidates. During first training capacity assessments will be conducted and final candidates will be selected for second training.

Volunteer Workshop at the University of Rajshahi

Today, we successfully conducted a Volunteer Workshop at the Jabir Ibn Hayyan Building, University of Rajshahi, hosted by the GroupMappers, MORU in collaboration with Department of Mathematics.

The workshop was designed to introduce students to geospatial technologies, volunteer opportunities, and open data platforms.

More than 40 students from the Departments of Mathematics and Geography & Environment participated.

We have successfully organized a Knowledge Dissemination and Capacity Development Workshop under the Climate Change and Health Project at Khagrachhari Sadar Upazila, Khagrachhari District, on 25 November 2025. The objective of the workshop was to strengthen the capacity of local health authorities and partner organizations in effectively analyzing and utilizing climate and health data to support evidence-based decision-making.

On 23 November 2025, a Capacity Strengthening and Knowledge Sharing Workshop was held in Banskhali Upazila, Chattogram District, as part of the Climate Change and Health Project. The event aimed to enhance the abilities of local health officials and partner organizations in analyzing and applying climate and health data to inform data-driven planning and decision-making.

On 18 November 2025, a Capacity Strengthening and Knowledge Sharing Workshop was organized in Alikadam Upazila, Bandarban District, under the Climate Change and Health Project. The workshop focused on enhancing the skills of local health officials and partner agencies in interpreting and applying climate and health data to support evidence-based planning and decision-making.
