Nur Kolima was around 10 when her family fled Myanmar. In Cox’s Bazar, she returned to learning, but when she got her first period, her family kept her at home.
Two years ago, Nur Kolima was invited to join Girl Shine. She convinced her parents to continue her learning and not get married early. Today, Nur Kolima is a mentor and teaches other girls to pursue their dreams.
Girls need the opportunity to continue learning, have supportive families and safe spaces where they can build confidence and shape their futures.
Girl Shine is part of UNFPA's Rising Together project, funded by Switzerland and implemented in partnership with Mukti Cox’s Bazar across 20 of the 34 camps in Cox’s Bazar and Bhasan Char.
