Happy to share a glimpse of the project visit from our sustainable livelihood initiative, স্বাবলম্বীতার সহযাত্রা ২.০.

Under Initiative No. 12, JCI Dhaka South handed over a wooden boat for "নৌকা উপহার" (Livelihood support for Tiger Goni) to Tiger Goni in the Sundarbans region.

Tiger Goni has dedicated years to leading courageous rescue operations in the Sundarbans, bravely recovering over a hundred victims—both survivors and deceased—from tiger attacks. Despite his immense courage and selfless service to the community, he lacked a stable source of income. Following an assessment of his needs, JCI Dhaka South gifted him a new wooden boat, enabling him to earn a living through fishing, serve as a tour guide in the Sundarbans, and continue providing vital rescue assistance whenever needed.

This initiative directly supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—specifically contributing to No Poverty (SDG 1) and Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8). Marking International Human Rights and Duties Day, this effort highlights that while living with dignity is a fundamental human right, standing beside brave local heroes and supporting their livelihood is our shared human duty. For Tiger Goni, this boat marks a transformational step toward a secure, sustainable, and self-reliant future.

Happy to share a glimpse of the project visit from our sustainable livelihood initiative, স্বাবলম্বীতার সহযাত্রা ২.০.

Under Initiative No. 13, JCI Dhaka South handed over the key to "আফসানা টি স্টল" (Afsana Tea Stall) to Mst. Afsana Khatun at Munshiganj Union, Shyamnagar, Satkhira.

Mst. Afsana Khatun lost her leg in a terrifying crocodile attack while catching fish in the river to support her family. Shortly after the tragic incident, her husband abandoned her and their child, leaving her to face extreme hardship and struggle daily to earn a living with physical limitations. Following a thorough field verification of her needs, JCI Dhaka South set up a complete tea stall to provide her with a dignified, accessible, and lasting source of income.

This initiative directly supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—specifically contributing to No Poverty (SDG 1), Gender Equality (SDG 5), Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10), and Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8). Marking International Human Rights and Duties Day, this effort highlights that while living with dignity is a fundamental human right, supporting resilient individuals facing physical adversity is our shared human duty. For Afsana Khatun, this tea stall marks a transformational step toward a secure, sustainable, and self-reliant future for her and her child.

Happy to share a glimpse of the project visit from our sustainable livelihood initiative, স্বাবলম্বীতার সহযাত্রা ২.০.

Under Initiative No. 11, JCI Dhaka South handed over 5 goats along with a newly constructed shed for "ছাগল পালন" (Goat Rearing Support) to Sobiron Nesa at Hogla Bazar, Maharajpur Union, Koyra, Khulna.

Twenty-five years ago, Sobiron Nesa lost her husband in a tragic tiger attack while he was fishing in the Sundarbans to support their family. Left alone with two young children, she endured extreme hardships for decades—working as a daily laborer, pulling nets in the river to catch fish, and often going without food. Following a thorough field verification of her needs, JCI Dhaka South provided 5 goats and constructed a dedicated shed to give her a dignified and lasting source of income.

This initiative directly supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—specifically contributing to No Poverty (SDG 1), Gender Equality (SDG 5), and Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8). Marking International Human Rights and Duties Day, this effort highlights that while living with dignity is a fundamental human right, supporting resilient individuals in need is our shared human duty. For Sobiron Nesa, this project marks a transformational step toward a secure, sustainable, and self-reliant future.

Happy to share a glimpse of the project visit from our sustainable livelihood initiative, স্বাবলম্বীতার সহযাত্রা ২.০.

Under Initiative No. 10, JCI Dhaka South handed over the key to "ইমাদুল স্টোর" (Imadul Store) to Tanjila Khatun at Choukuni, Maheshwaripur Union, Koyra, Khulna.

In 1995, Tanjila Khatun lost her husband in a tragic tiger attack while he was collecting firewood in the Sundarbans to support their family. Left alone with two young children, she endured severe hardships for decades, raising her family through demanding daily day-labor and earth-cutting work. Following a thorough field verification of her needs, JCI Dhaka South set up a complete poultry feed shop to provide her with a dignified and lasting source of income.

Thirty years ago, Achiya Khatun lost her husband in a tragic tiger attack while he was fishing in the Sundarbans to support their family. We are pleased to share an update on Initiative 08 under our flagship project, স্বাবলম্বীতার সহযাত্রা ২.০.

During our recent field visit to Chokbara Kheya Ghat in Gabura, Shyamnagar, Satkhira, our team personally verified and handed over sustainable livelihood support Roni Enterprise (a grocery/retail shop) to Murshida Khatun.

Murshida’s story is one of profound loss and remarkable endurance, having lost both her husband and father-in-law to devastating tiger attacks in the Sundarbans region. By providing her with this business setup, JCI Dhaka South aims to secure long-term financial independence and dignity for her household.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our immediate past leadership, project team, and local partners for making this initiative possible.

Happy to share a glimpse of the project visit from our sustainable livelihood initiative, স্বাবলম্বীতার সহযাত্রা ২.০. Under Initiative No. 07, JCI Dhaka South handed over the key to "সাব্বির টেইলার্স" (Sabbir Tailors) to Sajuda Begum at Kathaltala Bazar, Bhagba, Maheshwaripur, Koyra, Khulna.

In 2012, Sajuda Begum tragically lost her husband in a tiger attack while pregnant with her third child. Despite facing immense hardship, she managed to educate her children—raising her son to attend university—by working in others' homes. Although she possessed tailoring skills, she lacked the financial resources and proper location to start her own business. After field-verifying her story three months ago, JCI Dhaka South built a dedicated tailoring shop to support her vision of economic independence.

This project directly aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—specifically supporting No Poverty (SDG 1), Gender Equality (SDG 5), and Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8). Commemorating International Human Rights and Duties Day, this initiative reinforces that while living with dignity is a fundamental human right, empowering vulnerable individuals is our collective human duty. For Sajuda Begum, this shop is a vital step toward a sustainable, self-reliant future.

Glimpse of the project visit from our sustainable livelihood initiative.
স্বাবলম্বীতার সহযাত্রা ২.০
Under Initiative No-06

JCI Dhaka South proudly handed over the key to "শুভ্রজিত টি স্টল" (Shuvrojit Tea Stall) to Munni Khan in Purba Dhangmari, Banishanta, Dacope, Khulna.

Last year, Munni Khan tragically lost her husband in a crocodile attack while he was catching crabs to earn a living for their family, leaving her to face life alone with her child. Upon receiving and field-verifying her story three months ago, JCI Dhaka South took the initiative to build a sustainable business setup that empowers her to stand on her own feet with confidence.

This project directly aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) specifically contributing to No Poverty (SDG 1), Gender Equality (SDG 5), and Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8). On International Human Rights and Duties Day, this initiative highlights that while living with dignity is a basic human right, standing beside the vulnerable is our fundamental human duty. For Munni Khan, this tea stall is more than just a small business; it is a vital step toward a secure, dignified, and self-reliant future for her and her child.
