The Rotary Club of Jahangirnagar Dhaka
Rotary Club of Jahangirnagar Dhaka, a new born baby in the Rotary world was organized on 3rd June, 1992 by a group of young business and professional persons combined with Rotary spirit
of “Service AboveSelf” and “He Profits Most Who Served Best”. PP S H.M Nurul Huda Jaigirder, the key person behind the formation of this new club and discussed the matter with Rtn. Shafiqur Rahman and subsequently preliminary interest meeting of like minded persons was held on 3rd June 1992 at Data Enterprise, Kakrail, Dhaka where 25 young businessmen and professionals have registered their willingness to float a new Rotary club under the dynamic leadership of Rtn. Subsequently the matter was discussed with District Governor Rtn. Jalal U Ahmed and District Governor Nominee (93-94) Rtn. Magfur Uddin Ahamed who have given green signal to organize a new club and second meeting of the proposed club was held on the 6th June 1992 to examine the feasibility of forming the club at Data Enterprise where District governor Prof. Jalal U Ahmed and DGN Magfur Uddin Ahamed attended the meeting and appreciated members for their endeavor to organize a Rotary club. Meeting unanimously adopted the name of the club - Rotary Club of Jahangirnagar Dhaka and nominated 12 members Board of Directors and elected Rtn. PP SHM Nurul Huda Jagirder as first President, Rtn. Ishtiaque A Chowdhury as President Elect and Rtn. M K Haque as Honorary Secretary of the club. District Governor Prof. Jalal U Ahmed provisionally declared the club as Rotary Club of Jahangirnagar Dhaka in the meeting. Decision regarding meeting time & venue of the regular weekly meeting of the club were taken and finalized. History of the club will be incomplete if we do not mentioned the contribution of DGN (93-94) Rtn. Magfur Uddin Ahamed who has not only allowed us to use his business office as our preliminary meeting venue but also arranged sponsorship from his club RC Dhaka North East. Our club was formally granted charter on 23rd June 1992 by Rotary International mainly due to the personal initiative taken by District Governor Prof. Jalal U Ahmed. Though we have decided La Luna Thai & Schiuan Restaurant as the permanent venue and the complex were not ready we have temporarily hold our regular weekly meeting at Swato Chinese Restaurant at Rajarbagh, Dhaka. On 10th October 1992 we have shifted to our permanent venue at La Luna Thai & Schiuan Restaurant, Eastern Plaza, Sonargaon Road, Dhaka and hold regular weekly meeting at 6pm on each Saturday of the week.
