LeatherTrace’s e-traceability solution, developed under the Leathertrace Bangladesh: Traceable and Circular Leather Production (TCLP) project, has been successfully piloted at Anjuman Trading Corporation Ltd., Salma Tannery Ltd., Superex Leather Ltd., and Mitali Tannery Ltd.
The Bangladesh project team worked in close collaboration with these tanneries, facilitating the registration of slaughterhouses and collection centers, and providing comprehensive field support throughout the implementation process. Each tannery has effectively traced its entire supply chain, from slaughterhouse to finished leather, utilizing this advanced e-traceability solution.
A unique QR code containing comprehensive traceability information is generated, printed, and affixed to the final packaging, ensuring accurate and transparent delivery to the end destination.
This milestone represents a significant step toward digital traceability and sustainable practices in Bangladesh’s leather industry, ensuring transparency, accountability, and trust for all stakeholders.
The project is jointly implemented by the University of Northampton, SERA Bangladesh, IDEA Tree, Aston University, University of Hertfordshire, and the Sustainable Leather Foundation (SLF). It is funded by the Sustainable Manufacturing and Environmental Pollution (SMEP) Program, with funding and technical assistance from the UK International Development (FCDO) and UNCTAD.
A huge thank you to our dedicated team for their hard work in making this piloting phase a success! 👏
