While Bangladesh has made strong progress on child survival and nutrition, Indigenous children and adolescents in the Chittagong Hill Tracts continue to experience higher levels of undernutrition, poorer diet diversity, and weaker access to services than the national average. This Lancet Regional Health – Southeast Asia commentary by ARCED researcher Satyajit Kundu and colleague calls for disaggregated data, culturally appropriate nutrition interventions, and explicit inclusion of Indigenous youth in national strategies.

🔎 What it argues:
• Current national nutrition policies rarely capture Indigenous realities
• Adolescents are almost invisible in program design
• Better coordination among government, NGOs, and donors is essential to avoid intergenerational malnutrition

Last month, our team visited ARCED Foundation’s office to present a token of appreciation and celebrate their role in implementing research on improving indoor air quality in Dhaka, conducted in collaboration with the National University of Singapore, the University of California, San Diego, and Tufts University. Smart Air Bangladesh is honoured to support this effort as the provider of air quality monitoring tools and air purifiers. Together, we’re turning world-class research into practical action so families, schools, and workplaces can breathe easier.

We need more collaboration like this to build a future where clean air is a right, not a luxury.
