Hello there,
I'm Md. Hedayatul Islam Likhon, is a freelance artist and an adventurer.
Sitting on a train of the Northern part of Bangladesh, I'm writing my story here just to ask you people to join me or to do something at least. I'm going to share a dream of mine with you now. Though reading all of these you may call this dream a 'Suicidal attempt' but to me, It's an ultimate physical and mental challenge.
Before last Winter, my friend Abhijit Arka, another artist and adventurer, sent me a YouTube link to a report from a local television channel in my country. Watching that report, I came to know about the world's longest walkable road. From Cape Town in South Africa to Magadan in Russia, it is a 22,387km long way. If you start walking on that road and walk 8 hours a day, you need nearly 2 years to complete that distance. On that very day after confirming the authenticity of that report, we decided to go for that road as early as possible. But Arka then suggested that before going on that crazy road we need to prove our physical and mental capabilities for at least couple of times first. So, on November 4th last year, we first tested ourself by walking a 37km distance in 10 hours. That journey was from Shahbag to Maua ferri station on the bank of the Padma river. One of our fellow buddy Rufty was with us on that day too. After completing that journey at afternoon, we came back home and then for the first time we understood the workload of a long walk .
It was a horrible physical aftershock that I suffered for next 5 days. But surprisingly my other two fellows were quite ok. They were not feeling as much muscle pain as I was suffering. Watching and talking with them I was feeling low about my physical ability. Then last Winter vacation approached, and I went back to my Village home and stayed there with my parents and siblings for the next 5 months. According to my own research on biomechanics, I trained myself as far as I could. I walk 10+ km in the morning and run 5km in the evening each and every day. I did some other exercises and played some games too. By doing all of those things, I've gained some new muscles and become fitter.
And so now, personally, I’m taking on a new challenge to test myself once again. I'm going to go to the northwest endpoint of Bangladesh called Banglabandha Zero Point, Tetulia, and start walking towards the southeast endpoint of Shahpori Beach in Teknaf. On the road, I'll try to cook my lunch and share it with a hungry individual every day. I'll try to take shelter in the local communities for the night. I'm also bringing a personal musical instrument and some kitchen tools with me. In the daytime, I'll walk 20 km on average, and within 50 days, I want to make this(1001km walk) end.
Lastly, I want to dedicate this journey to the minorities of Bangladesh. My fellow countrymen and women who are and would be feeling minor in our society for their religions, professions, genders, passions, sexualities, and political ideologies, I am going to do it for them. "For the Minority" is going to be my tagline for this particular adventure.
And now, if you want to support me, share this thing with your friends and make some donations for my upcoming daily expenses.
