IDEB ICT Cell was officially formed on Feb 2011 to provide ICT facilities to IDEB and established networking and Wi-Fi facilities in the IDEB building. In January 2017 it’s reformed and merged with management information system (MIS) Cell, Online Activity Cell, and renamed to IDEB ICT & Innovation Division. To work with National ICT development progress by Creating, Enhancing, Operating, and Disseminating ICT knowledge and digitalization of IDEB. ICT division will also work for developing Diploma Engineers ICT Skills and Competitiveness for the future world of works.
Under the IDEB ICT & Innovation Division in June 2018, the Institution of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB) started a research laboratory named IDEB IoT & Robotics Research lab to foster computer science research and development in Bangladesh as well as to utilize the benefits of information technology for the society. The research lab focuses on theoretical aspects and applications of the areas of machine learning and data mining, natural language processing, intelligent systems, and embedded systems. This lab is driven by a multidisciplinary team of highly qualified researchers in their respective fields and aiming to maximize possibilities for computer science research in Bangladesh. One of the objectives of this lab is to train the Diploma graduate and TVET sector students to develop their capacity to become a future researcher. In addition, it is also working to establish collaborations between polytechnic and industry as well as to do collaborative research with local and foreign renowned research centers. The vision of its research is to investigate problems and develop innovative technological solutions that could potentially make an impact in society, improve quality of life, and more importantly make a significant contribution to the scientific arena. Members of this lab are expecting that the research outcome of IDEB IoT & Robotics Research lab will significantly create our research strength at home and abroad.
