𝗠𝗱. 𝗔𝘀𝗵𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘂𝘇𝘇𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗞𝗵𝗮𝗻, Coordinator- Resilience Building, participated in the 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 on behalf of the 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗵 (𝗖𝗖𝗗𝗕)
, held in 𝗖𝗲𝗯𝘂, 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀, from 𝟭𝟮–𝟭𝟲 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

The camp brought together climate justice actors from across Asia to build shared knowledge, strengthen connections, exchange community-led experiences and develop collective action for a more just and resilient future.

At the camp, CCDB presented an exhibition showcasing its climate resilience work and community-led approaches. CCDB also contributed as one of the facilitators of the Local Structures and Systems knowledge track, creating space for participants to explore how communities build their own structures, networks and systems to address climate challenges.

As part of the track, CCDB presented its Community Climate Resilience Centre (CCRC) approach, highlighting how community-led platforms can bring people into action, connect lives and livelihoods and strengthen community resilience.

The participation was a valuable opportunity to share CCDB’s experiences, learn from diverse community-led initiatives across Asia, strengthen regional connections and contribute to collective action for climate justice.

সাতক্ষীরা জেলার শ্যামনগরের আছিয়া বেগম আজ কেবল একজন সফল উদ্যোক্তাই নন, শত নারীর অনুপ্রেরণা । চরম আর্থিক সংকটের মুখে সিসিডিবি-র PCRCB প্রকল্পের প্রশিক্ষণ ও আর্থিক সহায়তা পান তিনি।

ক্ষুদ্র ব্যবসা আর সফট-শেল কাঁকড়া চাষ থেকে আজ তাঁর মাসিক আয় প্রায় ১৫,০০০ টাকা! সন্তানদের পড়াশোনা চালিয়েও বাড়তি টাকা সঞ্চয় করছেন তিনি। নিজের অদম্য ইচ্ছাশক্তি আর সঠিক সহায়তায় আজ তিনি পরিবারের হাল ধরেছেন শক্ত হাতে।

The Christian Commission for Development in Bangladesh (CCDB) conducted a training on “𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 (𝗡𝗯𝗦)”, held from 𝟮𝟲–𝟮𝟵 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 at the CCDB Climate Centre, Gazipur.

The training engaged 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗳𝗳, 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀, aiming to strengthen their knowledge and practical capacity on sustainable, nature-based solutions.

CCDB’s internal resource pool—Mousumi Halder (Coordinator, Capacity Building), Md. Kamal Hossain (Coordinator, CCDB Climate Centre), Md. Ashik Sarder (RECAP Project Coordinator), Md. Samiul Alim (Manager, Resilience Building), and Tushar Kanti Saha (Manager, Monitoring & Evaluation) and Md. Tareq Aziz, Program Officer from IUCN, facilitated the sessions, incorporating practical, hands-on approaches to Nature-based Solutions.

The sessions emphasized experiential learning, enabling participants to identify and understand 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 through practical examples and group activities. An exposure visit to the CCDB Climate Centre further enriched participants’ understanding through on-site demonstrations of NbS practices. Participants also explored and identified IUCN’s eight criteria of the Global Standard for NbS and develop NbS action plan.

This training contributed to enhancing participants’ capacity to apply 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁-𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰, 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 in climate and development programming, particularly for vulnerable and at-risk communities.

CCDB continues to demonstrate its commitment to institutional capacity strengthening and promoting inclusive, climate-resilient development practices through such initiatives.

উপকূলীয় অঞ্চল শ্যামনগরের গীতা রানী বিশ্বাস অনিয়মিত বৃষ্টিপাত ও লবণাক্ততা কাটিয়ে এখন এক সফল সবজি চাষী! সিসিডিবি (CCDB)-র কারিগরি প্রশিক্ষণ ও সহায়তায় উঁচু বেড তৈরি করে জলবায়ু সহনশীল পদ্ধতিতে সবজি চাষ শুরু করেন তিনি।

আজ তাদের পরিবারের সারা বছরের সবজির চাহিদা মিটে যাচ্ছে নিজ বাগান থেকেই। শুধু তাই নয়, বাড়তি সবজি বিক্রি করে অর্জিত আয়ই এখন তাদের সংসারের মূল শক্তি!

গীতা রানীর এই সফলতার গল্প প্রমাণ করে—সঠিক সহায়তা ও টেকসই প্রযুক্তি প্রান্তিক পরিবারকে স্বাবলম্বী করে তুলতে পারে। উপকূলের মানুষের টেকসই জীবিকা গড়ে তুলতে সিসিডিবি পাশে ছিল, আছে এবং থাকবে।

The Christian Commission for Development in Bangladesh (CCDB), through its Climate Change Program, successfully concluded a two-day National Seminar (23–24 July 2026) at the CCDB Climate Centre, Sreepur, Gazipur. The event brought together scholarship awardees, academic supervisors, government representatives, researchers, and development partners to strengthen the connection between climate research, policy, and practice.

The seminar featured a keynote by 𝗠𝗱. 𝗙𝗼𝗲𝘇𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗸𝗱𝗲𝗿, Head of Climate Change Program, CCDB, who highlighted the climate research landscape in Bangladesh. The event was graced by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗚.𝗞.𝗠. 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗳𝗶𝘇𝘂𝗿 𝗥𝗮𝗵𝗺𝗮𝗻, Vice Chancellor of Gazipur Agricultural University, as Chief Guest. Discussions reaffirmed the importance of CCDB’s Scholarship Program for Sustainable Climate Actions in advancing evidence-based climate solutions and policymaking.

Three thematic technical sessions were held:
🌱 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲-𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗦𝗼𝗶𝗹 & 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝗽 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 — Chaired by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗛𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗯 𝗠𝗼𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗱 𝗡𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗿, Director (Planning & Evaluation Wing), Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI). Expert discussants included 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗱. 𝗔𝗯𝗶𝗮𝗿 𝗥𝗮𝗵𝗺𝗮𝗻 (Gazipur Agricultural University) and 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗱. 𝗠𝗼𝘇𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗹 𝗛𝗮𝗾𝘂𝗲 (BRRI). Researchers from Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Gazipur Agricultural University, and Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University presented their work.

𝗔𝘁𝗶𝗸𝘂𝗹 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗺(Khulna University), 𝗗𝗿. 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗦. 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗶 (University of Rajshahi), and 𝗠𝗿. 𝗠𝘂𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗱 𝗙𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘂𝘀 (BRAC University). Presentations were delivered by researchers from Bandarban University, Khulna University, BRAC C3ER, and PRAAN.

⚡ 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 & 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 — Chaired by 𝗡𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗶 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮 𝗗𝗲𝘆, Director (MIM), Department of Disaster Management. Expert discussants included 𝗗𝗿. 𝗞𝗮𝘇𝗶 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻 𝗨𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗱, 𝗠𝗿. 𝗦𝗮𝘇𝘇𝗮𝗱 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗻 (Bangladesh Water Development Board), 𝗗𝗿. 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗮 𝗗𝗲𝘆 (University of Dhaka), and 𝗡𝗶𝗹𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗿 𝗔𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗺, Gender Expert. Researchers from Bangladesh Agricultural University, the University of Dhaka, and Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University presented their findings.

The sessions fostered meaningful dialogue among researchers, academics, policymakers, and practitioners, helping bridge the gap between science and practice while identifying future directions for climate research in Bangladesh.

The seminar concluded with a strategic consultation on the future of the Scholarship Program, facilitated by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗦. 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗶, CCDB Commission Member and Professor of Public Administration, University of Rajshahi. Participants reflected on achievements, lessons learned, and opportunities to further strengthen climate research, innovation, and leadership in Bangladesh.

The seminar will feature research and dialogue on climate-adaptive agriculture, water and forest resource management, disaster risk reduction, social resilience, and renewable energy—highlighting innovative solutions and actionable insights for building resilient communities across Bangladesh.

গ্র্যাভিটি ফ্লো সিস্টেম (GFS)
পাহাড়ি জনপদে পানির টেকসই সমাধান

বান্দরবানের পাহাড়ি গ্রামগুলোতে প্রয়োজনীয় পানির সংকট রয়েছে। পানির জন্য তাদের নির্ভর করতে হয় প্রাকৃতিক ঝর্ণা বা ঝিরির ওপর। অনেক ক্ষেত্রে ঝিরিগুলো লোকালয় থেকে বেশ দূরে হয়ে থাকে। প্রতিদিন ঘণ্টার পর ঘণ্টা খাড়া পাহাড় বেয়ে নারীদের পানি সংগ্রহ করতে হয়, যা শুষ্ক মৌসুমে রূপ নেয় তীব্র সংকটে ।

পানির এই কষ্ট দূর করতে সিসিডিবি (CCDB)-র উদ্যোগে এবং 'লতাঝিড়ি স্বাক্ষইপাড়া ফোরাম'-এর যৌথ শ্রম ও সহযোগিতায় টংকাবতীর স্বাক্ষই পাড়ায় চলছে ২,৫০০ ফুট দীর্ঘ জিএফএস বা গ্র্যাভিটি ফ্লো সিস্টেম (GFS) নির্মাণের কাজ।

জিএফএস হলো পৃথিবীর অভিকর্ষজ বলকে (Gravity) কাজে লাগিয়ে কোনো বিদ্যুৎ ছাড়াই পাহাড়ের উপরিভাগে তৈরী কৃত্রিম জলাধারের সাথে পাইপলাইনের সংযোগের মাধ্যমে পাহাড়ের নিচের অংশে পানি সরবরাহ করা।

১৯৮৪ সাল থেকে সিসিডিবি পার্বত্য অঞ্চলে এমন ৩৬টি জিএফএস স্থাপন করেছে, যা বদলে দিয়েছে হাজারো পরিবারের জীবন।

খুব শীঘ্রই স্বাক্ষইপাড়ায় শুরু হচ্ছে জিএফএস এর মাধ্যমে পানি সরবরাহ। অবসান হচ্ছে দীর্ঘদিনের পানির সংকট।
