Prison is a mysterious sector for many people. People can feel its bitterness and pain when he/she is in prison. It is defined as a hell of earth. Nobody wants to remember such a terrible situation. Everybody hates prison and lack of sympathy over prisoners. They are rejected and un-reached people. They are starving for love of Christ. At that time some open-hearted persons felt the broken heart o
f the prisoners. They tried to serve the inmates spiritually and morally. Prodip Dowa was the pioneer of them. Actually every member of the executive council prayed and worked hard for the ministry. Besides they contacted Prison Fellowship International (PFI), global Christian network-serving prisoners. PFI gave charter plaque to Prison Fellowship Bangladesh (PFB) as their member body on March 26, 2009. Then the journey of Prison Fellowship Bangladesh (PFB) has started. Prison Fellowship Bangladesh (PFB) is a ministry for the prisoner, ex-prisoners, victims and their families with active support and cooperation from Prison Fellowship International (PFI). The organization has come into reality as a result of three organizations- Prison Ministry of Dhaka Assemblies Of God (AOG) Church, Prison’s Care in Bangladesh and Help Ministries Bangladesh coming together for a greater unity and service to the target beneficiaries. It has formed its Executive Council and being operated under the auspices of its constitution. PFB was registered under the Trust Act 1882 of Bangladesh Government on August 10, 2009. We are going to apply for NGO Bureau registration in this year for coming in close contact with these poor prisoners, their families and ex-prisoners to alleviate their miserable life. We have got the permission from the Prisons Directorate to operate pre-release program from January, 2011 in the Dhaka Central Jail. Besides we have organized Pre-Christmas Program with Christian prisoners. Thus the Christian prisoners got opportunity to hear gospel and feel the love of Christ through this program. We also distributed warm clothes to the women prisoners and their children in 5 prisons i.e. Dhaka Central Jail, Kasimpur Central Jail, unit-1,2,3 and Gazipur District Jail with Dhaka AOG Church, our helping partner. This year we observed special Easter service with the prisoners on Easter Saturday, another major festival of the Christians. It is very much encouraging that the people in our community are becoming aware of the bitterly pain of the prisoners. We are getting response from all the denominations of the country who can share the gospel to the Christian inmates. They will be from local churches so that they can mobilize local resources to meet the demand of local prisons. Local church participation and mobilization will be increased through this program. That day will no late to come when we can serve for all the prisoners all over the country.
