Since 2005, the Bangladesh Debating Council (BDC) has been working nationwide and across all levels of educational institutions to promote structured, inclusive, and impactful debating culture. Since 2005, the Bangladesh Debating Council has been working with educational institutions in all tiers, from schools to universities nationwide, with the aim of encouraging a generation of students to tran

scend boundaries and hone their communication, critical analysis and constructive thinking skills. Each year the council organizes the Pre-Worlds Debating Championship, the largest English Debating Competition in the country that has previously attracted up to 64 institutions. The council has also worked in ensuring rules, regulations & technicalities are observed to ensure fair competition within schools & universities across the country. While also being recognized as the first organization to introduce a transparent system of debate judgment and even digital software that helps record debates in order to make the process more fair and increase the scope for one’s self-development. Every year since 2006 through a long process of selections, where we test the school level debaters in every aspect of debating, we select the top 5 school level debaters of the country to form Team Bangladesh, which participates at the World Schools Debating Championship (WSDC).

We are elated to reveal the Bangladesh Development Team for WSDC 2026!

BDC has always prioritized our long-term objective of creating a pipeline of young debaters to pass the torch to. This ensures and retains Bangladesh’s place at the top of debate while also allowing the continuity of strong WSDC performances. The following individuals have been chosen to be a part of this year’s Development Team.

The debaters in this year’s Development Team are:

Muntasir Tajwar Rashid from Birshrestha Noor Mohammad Public College,
Mirsabh Munaf from Bangladesh International School & College, Mohakhali,
Shehreen Hussain from Sir John Wilson School.

This year’s Development Team will be coached by Shadman Khan Chowdhury from North South University and Tauhid Islam Jami from Lafayette College.

We are excited to be working with a promising group of debaters as part of our WSDC training programme this year and wish them all the very best as they begin their journey with the Bangladesh contingent.
