A discussion meeting held on 8th March 2026 to mark the International Women's Day under the banner of the project Building a Sustainable Leather Srctor In Bangladesh funded by the European Union and lead of Solidar Suisse with an objective to ensure womens dignity and to elaborate the women's rights included in Bangladesh Labour Act Ordinance 2025, gender equality and prevention of GBV at work.

The Leather Project is empowering 3,255 workers, union activists, managers, CSOs, and government stakeholders from 50 factories across three districts. Together, they are learning to adapt to climate impacts, strengthen disaster preparedness, and build a climate-resilient, just, and sustainable future for Bangladesh’s leather sector.

Theme: Rights, Justice & Action - for ALL Women and Girls

Women are not asking for charity.
They are demanding rights, justice, dignity, and equal power.

On this International Women’s Day, OSHE Foundation stands in solidarity with every woman worker, every girl, and every voice that refuses to be silenced.

From factories to farms, from homes to workplaces—
women continue to face discrimination, unsafe working conditions, violence, and unequal opportunities.

⚖️ Rights must be protected.
✊ Justice must be ensured.
🔥 Action must be taken—NOW.

We call on governments, employers, and society to ensure:

• Safe and dignified workplaces for women
• Equal wages and equal opportunities
• Freedom from harassment and violence at work
• Recognition of women workers’ contributions in every sector

The Bangladesh Government has officially ratified ILO Convention 190, marking a powerful commitment to eliminate violence and harassment in the world of work and to ensure safe, dignified, and respectful workplaces for all workers—especially women.

This is a landmark achievement for workers’ rights, gender justice, and human dignity in Bangladesh. 💪⚖️

Alongside government action, OSHE Foundation has been actively working to advance the spirit and implementation of Convention 190 through:

🌿 Building a Gender-Just Leather Sector in Bangladesh 🌿

OSHE Foundation successfully organized a two-day workshop titled “Elaboration of Gender Roadmap and Specific Needs and Rights of Women Workers at Leather Factories in Bangladesh” on 21–22 February 2026 at GK, Nabinagar, Savar, Dhaka.

The workshop created a powerful learning and dialogue platform on Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI), women workers’ rights, legal protection, safeguarding, and workplace dignity. Through interactive thematic sessions, participants explored gender problem tree analysis, legal frameworks, ILO Convention C-190, High Court verdicts, and safeguarding mechanisms including Protection from Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH).

Expert facilitation was led by Ms. Nahida Anjum Kona, Gender Expert, with strong guidance from Ms. Saki Rezwana, Chairperson, OSHE Foundation.

✨ Implemented under the “Building a Sustainable Leather Sector in Bangladesh” project of OSHE Foundation, funded by the European Union and led by Solidar Suisse.

This initiative marks a significant step toward developing a Gender Roadmap for the Leather Sector, strengthening safety, dignity, equality, and justice for women workers across Bangladesh.



🌿 বাংলাদেশে জেন্ডার-ন্যায়ভিত্তিক চামড়া খাত গঠনের পথে একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পদক্ষেপ 🌿

OSHE Foundation কর্তৃক আয়োজিত দুই দিনব্যাপী কর্মশালা “বাংলাদেশের চামড়া কারখানায় কর্মরত নারী শ্রমিকদের নির্দিষ্ট চাহিদা ও অধিকার এবং জেন্ডার রোডম্যাপ প্রণয়ন” শীর্ষক কর্মশালাটি সফলভাবে অনুষ্ঠিত হয় ২১–২২ ফেব্রুয়ারি ২০২৬, GK, নবীনগর, সাভার, ঢাকা-তে।

কর্মশালায় জেন্ডার সমতা ও সামাজিক অন্তর্ভুক্তি (GESI), নারী শ্রমিকদের অধিকার, আইনগত সুরক্ষা, সেফগার্ডিং এবং কর্মক্ষেত্রে মর্যাদা ও নিরাপত্তা নিয়ে গভীর আলোচনা ও শেখার সুযোগ তৈরি হয়। ইন্টারঅ্যাকটিভ থিমেটিক সেশনের মাধ্যমে অংশগ্রহণকারীরা জেন্ডার সমস্যা বিশ্লেষণ (Gender Problem Tree Analysis), আইনগত কাঠামো, ILO কনভেনশন C-190, হাইকোর্টের রায়সমূহ এবং যৌন শোষণ, নির্যাতন ও হয়রানি প্রতিরোধ (PSEAH) বিষয়ক সেফগার্ডিং ব্যবস্থাপনা সম্পর্কে সম্যক ধারণা লাভ করেন।

কর্মশালার মূল রিসোর্স পারসন হিসেবে সেশন পরিচালনা করেন জেন্ডার বিশেষজ্ঞ Ms. Nahida Anjum Kona, এবং সার্বিক দিকনির্দেশনায় ছিলেন Ms. Saki Rezwana, চেয়ারপারসন, OSHE Foundation।

✨ এই কর্মশালাটি OSHE Foundation-এর “Building a Sustainable Leather Sector in Bangladesh” প্রকল্পের আওতায় বাস্তবায়িত, যা অর্থায়ন করেছে European Union এবং নেতৃত্ব দিচ্ছে Solidar Suisse।

এই উদ্যোগ বাংলাদেশের চামড়া খাতে একটি জেন্ডার রোডম্যাপ প্রণয়নের পথে একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ মাইলফলক, যা নারী শ্রমিকদের নিরাপত্তা, মর্যাদা, সমতা ও ন্যায়ের ভিত্তিতে একটি অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক ও মানবিক কর্মপরিবেশ গড়ে তুলতে সহায়ক হবে।
