[Research Opportunity | SCORE × SCORA × Ipas Bangladesh]

SCORE and SCORA BMSS, in collaboration with Ipas Bangladesh, are jointly calling for Research Field Investigators for three important upcoming studies. As part of this collaboration, SCORE and SCORA BMSS are conducting three research projects alongside Ipas Bangladesh, and we are looking for motivated field investigators to be a part of this work.

Ipas Bangladesh is a leading reproductive health organization working to advance reproductive justice and ensure access to sexual and reproductive healthcare across Bangladesh, with a strong focus on women's and adolescent health. This is a strong opportunity to work directly with an organization that has been driving real change at the ground level in Bangladesh.

What you'll get out of it:

A chance to gain practical field investigation experience, an opportunity to work closely with Ipas Bangladesh, an official certificate from Ipas Bangladesh upon successful completion, and a seat at an exclusive online workshop for investigators, conducted by Dr. Iftekhar Ahmed Sakib.

Who can apply:

Students preferably in MBBS of any year preferably 3rd year or above, who can commit to active involvement for 3 weeks starting this Saturday. Previous research experience is appreciated but not mandatory.

ভোরের আলো ফুটতেই আমরা যেমন লাল-সাদা পোশাকে আর পান্তা-ইলিশে নতুন বছরকে বরণ করি, পৃথিবীর অন্য প্রান্তেও কিন্তু মানুষ মেতে ওঠে এক জাদুকরী আনন্দে!

একটু ভাবুন তো—থাইল্যান্ডের রাস্তায় গত বছরের গ্লানি ধুতে চলছে জলকেলি (সংক্রান), আর চীনে দানব তাড়াতে লাল লণ্ঠনের মেলা (চুনজিয়ে)। ইরানে বসন্তের শুরুতে আগুন টপকে ভাগ্য ফেরানোর রেওয়াজ (নওরোজ), কোরিয়ায় ঐতিহ্যবাহী স্যুপ খেয়ে বয়স বাড়ানোর মজার রীতি (সোল্লাল), কিংবা ইথিওপিয়ায় সম্পূর্ণ ভিন্ন ক্যালেন্ডার মেনে হলুদ ফুলের মাঝে বর্ষবরণ (এনকুতাশ)!

BMSS SCORE-এর এক্সচেঞ্জ প্রোগ্রামের অন্যতম লক্ষ্যই হলো এই বিশ্ব সংস্কৃতির বিনিময়। চলুন, আজ এক ঝলকে ঘুরে আসি পৃথিবীর নানা প্রান্তের নববর্ষের গল্প থেকে।

[ঢাকা মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালে চিকিৎসকদের ওপর হামলার তীব্র নিন্দা ও দ্রুত বিচারের দাবিতে বিবৃতি]

বাংলাদেশ মেডিকেল স্টুডেন্টস সোসাইটি (BMSS) অত্যন্ত উদ্বেগ ও ক্ষোভের সাথে লক্ষ্য করছে যে, গত ৮ এপ্রিল ২০২৬ তারিখ বিকেলে ঢাকা মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালের জরুরি বিভাগে চিকিৎসাসেবা প্রদানকালে একদল শিক্ষার্থী কর্তৃক কর্তব্যরত ইন্টার্ন চিকিৎসক ও চিকিৎসকদের ওপর ন্যাক্কারজনক হামলার ঘটনা ঘটেছে। একটি সাধারণ ওষুধের প্রাপ্যতা নিয়ে তর্কের জের ধরে যেভাবে হাসপাতালের মতো সংবেদনশীল জায়গায় অরাজকতা সৃষ্টি করা হয়েছে এবং জরুরি সেবা বন্ধ করতে বাধ্য করা হয়েছে, তা কেবল দুঃখজনকই নয় বরং সম্পূর্ণ অগ্রহণযোগ্য।
হাসপাতাল এমন একটি স্থান যেখানে দল-মত-পরিচয় নির্বিশেষে প্রতিটি মানুষ সেবা পেতে আসে। কিন্তু সেখানে যদি চিকিৎসকদের নিরাপত্তা না থাকে, তবে সাধারণ মানুষের চিকিৎসাসেবা নিশ্চিত করা অসম্ভব হয়ে পড়ে। ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মতো দেশের সর্বোচ্চ বিদ্যাপীঠের কতিপয় শিক্ষার্থীর কাছ থেকে এ ধরনের উশৃঙ্খল ও অরাজক আচরণ কোনোভাবেই প্রত্যাশিত নয়।
এই অরাজক পরিস্থিতির তীব্র নিন্দা জানিয়ে বাংলাদেশ মেডিকেল স্টুডেন্টস সোসাইটি নিম্নলিখিত দাবিগুলো জানাচ্ছে:

১. সুষ্ঠু তদন্ত ও বিচার: এই হামলার সাথে জড়িত চিহ্নিত দোষীদের অবিলম্বে আইনের আওতায় এনে দৃষ্টান্তমূলক শাস্তি নিশ্চিত করতে হবে। কোনো ধরনের রাজনৈতিক বা প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক প্রভাবে অপরাধীদের ছাড় দেওয়া চলবে না।

২. কর্মস্থলের নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিতকরণ: দেশের প্রতিটি হাসপাতালে, বিশেষ করে ঢামেক-এর মতো ব্যস্ততম জরুরি বিভাগে চিকিৎসকদের জন্য নিশ্ছিদ্র নিরাপত্তা ব্যবস্থা গড়ে তুলতে হবে। চিকিৎসকের ওপর হামলা মানেই হলো সাধারণ মানুষের চিকিৎসাসেবা বিঘ্নিত করা।

৩. দ্রুত পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ: তদন্ত কমিটির প্রতিবেদন নির্ধারিত সময়ের মধ্যে দাখিল করে দোষীদের বিরুদ্ধে প্রশাসনিক ও আইনানুগ কঠোর ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করতে হবে।

৪. স্বাস্থ্য সুরক্ষা আইন বাস্তবায়ন: চিকিৎসকদের কর্মস্থলে নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিত করতে দীর্ঘদিনের দাবি 'চিকিৎসক ও স্বাস্থ্যকর্মী সুরক্ষা আইন' অবিলম্বে কার্যকর করার দাবি জানাচ্ছি।
বিএমএসএস স্পষ্ট ভাষায় বলতে চায়, আমরা সব সময় সাধারণ মানুষের স্বাস্থ্যসেবা নিশ্চিতের পক্ষে। কিন্তু সেই সেবা দিতে গিয়ে যদি শুভ্র কোট পরিহিত চিকিৎসকদের রক্ত ঝরাতে হয়, তবে আমরা রাজপথে কঠোর আন্দোলনে নামতে বাধ্য হব। আমরা সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্তৃপক্ষকে দ্রুত এই অরাজকতার অবসান ঘটিয়ে দোষীদের শাস্তি প্রদানের মাধ্যমে একটি নিরাপদ কর্মপরিবেশ নিশ্চিত করার জোর দাবি জানাচ্ছি।

[SCORE Activation: Cumilla Medical College LC is LIVE!]

We are absolutely ecstatic to share some groundbreaking news! Following the official approval from the SCORE Supervising Board, the Cumilla Medical College (CuMC) Local Committee has been officially activated for SCORE Incomings!

On January 6th, our National Officer on Research Exchange, Ahmed Zaim Khan, had the privilege of visiting the Cumilla Medical College campus. During the visit, a highly productive meeting was held with the Honorable Principal, Professor Dr. Mirza Mohammad Tyeabul Islam. We are honored to share that he greatly appreciated the activities of BMSS and specifically commended the initiatives of SCORE. His support and encouragement have been instrumental in moving this process forward. We express our gratitude to Sir and Cumilla Medical College authority for making this possible.

This milestone marks a significant expansion for BMSS Bangladesh, opening new doors for international medical students to dive into the world of clinical and laboratory research in the heart of Cumilla.
