Who Are We? WGS Social and Environment Club is non-profit, voluntary, separate club under Department of Women Gender Studies focusing on social works and environment friendly social initiative involving the students into those works. It is the initiative from Department of Women and Gender Studies which will work with its own goa
l, vision, mission and activities focusing on social and environmental works. The pioneer of this club is the respective teacher Helal Hossain Dhali, assistant professor of the Department. Respective lecturer Gulay Jannat and MSS student Laila Tasmia, along with other founding members (students) of the department are developing the progress of this club. Vision:
The vision of WGSSEC is to establish a sustainable environment friendly Bangladesh with the concern of gender sensitivity. Mission:
The mission of WGSSEC is to encourage and empower the students of DWGS for youth development works with skills, ideas, experience and leadership capacity by involving them small or if possible in big-scale social action projects, campaigns, social activities and environmental initiatives. Themes and Values:
WGSSEC has its own themes and values for its working process. WGSSEC-
• believes on the triple action of think-talk-act process
• is concerned about environmental issues, social issues and gender sensitivity
• bears the principle patriotism, respect, equality and human rights
• practices team work, innovation and initiative
Goals and Objectives:
• To endorse awareness on environmental and other social issues with gender sensitivity
• To create space for the students of DWGS to understand, advocate, talk and take initiative on environmental and other social issues.
• To build leadership knowledge and skills among students of DWGS
• Creating platform for DWGS students to gain first-hand experience on approaches of appropriate social and environmental initiatives with challenges and opportunities
• Creating networks between WGSSEC and other social clubs or organizations inside or outside DU authorities
• Creating network and connection among all the batches of DWGS students into social and environmental issues or initiatives
