🚑 Strengthening First Aid Capacity for Response in Other Situation of Violence and Emergencies

The Youth & Volunteers Department of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society(BDRCS), with the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross Bangladesh, successfully organized a 4-day Advance First Aid Training from 8-11 June 2026 under the First Aid Response During Other Situations of Violence (OSV) and Emergencies Program in Dinajpur.

A total of 30 Red Crescent Youth (RCY) volunteers from Rangpur Division, including 20 male and 10 female participants, took part in this intensive training program designed to enhance their knowledge, practical skills, and confidence in providing first aid during emergencies and situations of violence.

The training sessions were facilitated by experienced trainers from the BDRCS Training Department, Youth & Volunteers Department, ICRC, and members of the BDRCS Training Pool.

The key objectives of the training were:
✅ To improve first aid knowledge, skills, and confidence among RCY volunteers of Rangpur Division.
✅ To strengthen the capacity of volunteers to respond effectively during situations of violence and other emergencies.
✅ To improve casualty stabilization and referral outcomes.
✅ To establish a division-wise trainer pool, enabling BDRCS to independently sustain and deliver quality first aid training in the future.

The closing ceremony was attended by Advocate Mofazzol Hossain Dulal, Administrator, Dinajpur District Council and Chairman of Dinajpur Red Crescent Unit; Dr. Jalisa Khanam, FA & PHEC Program Manager, ICRC; and other distinguished officials from BDRCS.

Orientation on Red Cross/Red Crescent History and First Aid Successfully Completed.

On 17 June 2026 (Wednesday), the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society(BDRCS), Rangamati Unit, organized a one-day “Orientation on Red Cross/Red Crescent History and First Aid”. The program was attended by members of the Unit Executive Committee, Life Members of the Rangamati Unit, and designated teachers of Red Crescent Youth team from various educational institutions.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Agriculturist Kajal Talukder, Honorable Chairman of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, Rangamati Unit, as the Chief Guest.

Through this orientation, participants gained valuable knowledge and practical understanding of the history of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, as well as essential first aid skills. The training will help them play a more effective role in humanitarian service and community support activities in the future.

With a commitment to building knowledgeable, skilled, and humanitarian-minded volunteers, the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, Rangamati Unit, continues to work tirelessly for the betterment of society.

The session was presided over by S. M. Safiul Azam, Honorable Vice Chairman of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, Rangamati Unit.

Md. Saiful Islam Shakil, Honorable Secretary of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, Rangamati Unit, attended the program as the Special Guest.

The event was moderated by Md. Moinul Islam Palash, Unit Level Officer of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, Rangamati Unit.

Overall guidance and supervision were provided by Md. Delowar Hossain Tanvir, Youth Chief of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, Rangamati Unit.

🩸 এক ব্যাগ রক্ত, বাঁচাতে পারে একটি জীবন।

ক্যাম্প ও স্থানীয় জনগোষ্ঠীর মানুষের মধ্যে প্রসূতি জটিলতা, অস্ত্রোপচার, দুর্ঘটনা এবং গুরুতর অসুস্থ রোগীদের জন্য নিরাপদ রক্তের প্রয়োজনীয়তা দিন দিন বৃদ্ধি পাচ্ছে। এই বাস্তবতা বিবেচনায় নিয়ে জরুরি রক্ত সংগ্রহ, সরবরাহ ও সঞ্চালন নিশ্চিত করার লক্ষ্যে Bangladesh Red Crescent Society(BDRCS)-এর পপুলেশন মুভমেন্ট অপারেশন (PMO) ১৬ জুন ২০২৬ তারিখে কক্সবাজারের উখিয়ায় অবস্থিত ফিল্ড হাসপাতালে একটি স্বেচ্ছায় রক্তদান কর্মসূচি আয়োজন করে।

পিএমও‘র স্টাফ ও স্বেচ্ছাসেবীদের নিয়ে আয়োজিত উক্ত কর্মসূচিতে, অংশগ্রহণকারীদের নিবন্ধন, স্বাস্থ্য পরীক্ষা, রক্তের গ্রুপ নির্ণয়, হিমোগ্লোবিন পরীক্ষা এবং যোগ্যতা যাচাই শেষে রক্ত সংগ্রহ করা হয়।
মোট ২০ জনের স্ক্রিনিং করা হয়, যার মধ্যে ১৭ জন সফলভাবে রক্তদান করেন। তাদের এই মানবিক অবদান ভবিষ্যতে জরুরি মুহূর্তে জীবন বাঁচাতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখবে।

অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন উখিয়া উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সের ইউএইচএফপিও ডা. আহসান উল্লাহ সিকদার, আরআরআরসি (RRRCOffice)-এর স্বাস্থ্য সমন্বয়কারী ডা. তোহা ভূঁইয়া, বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থার (WHO) সাব-অফিস প্রধান ডা. ত্রান মিন নু নগুয়েন, World Health Organization Bangladesh, BDRCS-এর হেলথ অ্যান্ড কেয়ার ম্যানেজার ডা. মেসবাহউদ্দিন আহমেদ ও পিএমও’র অন্যান্য সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্মকর্তাগণ।
আকরাম আলী খান, পরিচালক ও হেড অব অপারেশন (PMO), কর্মসূচিটির সার্বিক দিকনির্দেশনা দেন ও পরিচালনা করেন।

এই জীবনরক্ষাকারী উদ্যোগ বাস্তবায়নে স্বাস্থ্য সেক্টর ও WHO বাংলাদেশ কারিগরি ও লজিস্টিক সহায়তা প্রদান করে। সকল অংশীজনের সম্মিলিত প্রচেষ্টা নিরাপদ রক্তসেবা জোরদার করার পাশাপাশি ক্যাম্প ও স্থানীয় জনগোষ্ঠীর জন্য আরও কার্যকর স্বাস্থ্যসেবা নিশ্চিত করতে সহায়তা করবে।

কক্সবাজারে পপুলেশন মুভমেন্ট অপারেশন (PMO)-এর আওতায় তারা পরিবার পরিকল্পনা, মাতৃ ও নবজাতক স্বাস্থ্য, পুষ্টি, প্রসব-পরবর্তী সেবা (PNC), প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক প্রসব এবং সময়মতো চিকিৎসা গ্রহণের গুরুত্ব সম্পর্কে সচেতনতা তৈরি করছেন। পাশাপাশি বয়স্ক বা প্রবীণ ও প্রতিবন্ধী ব্যক্তিদের (PWDs) স্বাস্থ্যসেবা কেন্দ্রে পৌঁছাতে সহায়তা করছেন।

তাদের আন্তরিক প্রচেষ্টা ক্যাম্পের মানুষের মধ্যে ইতিবাচক আচরণগত পরিবর্তন আনছে এবং একটি সুস্থ, সচেতন ও সহনশীল সম্প্রদায় গড়ে তুলতে ভূমিকা রাখছে।

মানবতার সেবাই তাদের সবচেয়ে বড় প্রাপ্তি।

কক্সবাজারের ৩৩টি ক্যাম্পে বর্তমানে প্রায় ১,৪৯,৭৬৯ জন বাস্তুচ্যুত মিয়ানমার নাগরিক অত্যন্ত ঘনবসতিপূর্ণ পরিবেশে বসবাস করছেন, যেখানে নিরাপদ পানি ও স্যানিটেশন সেবার চাহিদা প্রতিনিয়ত বাড়ছে।

Bangladesh Red Crescent Society(BDRCS) তার পপুলেশন মূভমেন্ট অপারেশন (পিএমও)-এর আওতায় ক্যাম্প ১১, ১২, ১৩, ১৮ ও ১৯-এ ধারাবাহিকভাবে পানি, স্যানিটেশন ও স্বাস্থ্যবিধি (WASH) কার্যক্রম বাস্তবায়ন করছে।

📊এপ্রিল ২০২৬-এ WASH সেবার মাধ্যমে উপকৃত হয়েছেন প্রায় ১,০৮,২৩৭ জন মানুষ।

📢 BDRCS Launches PMER Framework to Strengthen Institutional Accountability and Results-Based Management

“Strengthening a culture of evidence, learning, accountability and quality across BDRCS.”

Bangladesh Red Crescent Society(BDRCS) has officially launched its institutional Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting (PMER) Framework through a sharing and launching session held on 15 June 2026 at the BDRCS Training Room.

The session was attended by BDRCS senior leadership, Directors, department representatives, project focal persons, PMER and IM colleagues, and representatives from Movement partners, including IFRC and Partner National Societies.

The PMER Framework marks an important milestone for BDRCS in establishing a standardized and practical system for planning, monitoring, evaluation, reporting, learning and accountability across the organization. It will serve as both a policy reference and an operational guide for staff, volunteers and partners at organizational, programme/project and emergency response levels.

The Framework was developed through a participatory process led by the Planning and Development Department, with contributions from technical colleagues from BDRCS, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Röda Korset, British Red Cross and American Red Cross. It brings together standard processes, tools, templates and guidance to support evidence-based decision-making, quality programming and institutional learning.

BDRCS expresses sincere appreciation to all members of the working group and partners for their valuable contributions in developing this important institutional document.

Together, this Framework will help strengthen a culture of evidence, learning, accountability and quality across BDRCS humanitarian and development work.

📍 Heatwave National Early Action Protocol Testing in Rajshahi (7-11 June 2026)

From 7th to 11th June 2026, Heatwave National Early Action Protocol (NEAP) has been tested by the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society(BDRCS) in Rajshahi with support of the Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (German Red Cross), to strengthen community preparedness and anticipatory action against extreme heat impacts.

This exercise tested Heatwave NEAP’s trigger mechanisms and early actions while streamlining coordination across critical government sectors, such as the City Corporation, Health, Agriculture, and Livestock Department in Rajshahi. The early actions of the NEAP were implemented during these mentioned dates, but the overall testing began at the start of the heatwave season and followed each stage of readiness, pre-activation, and activation of the national heatwave early action protocol.

During the simulation, several field level interventions were implemented to support at-risk communities and test operational readiness, including:
🏠 Setting up Cooling Centers for heat stressed individuals
💧 Distribution of safe drinking water to reduce heat related health risks
🪭 Distribution of hand fans and umbrellas for immediate relief from extreme heat
📢 Dissemination of heatwave awareness messages for community safety
🌾🐄 Awareness support for agricultural and livestock protection safeguarding measures

These activities helped strengthen coordination, improve anticipatory action systems, and enhance community understanding of heatwave risks and response actions.

Together, we continue building resilience through anticipatory action and climate smart preparedness.

১৪ই জুন ২০২৬, বিশ্ব রক্তদাতা দিবস উপলক্ষ্যে Bangladesh Red Crescent Society(BDRCS), রাঙামাটি ইউনিটের উদ্যোগে ইউনিট কনফারেন্স রুমে এক আলোচনা সভা ও রক্তদাতা সম্মাননা অনুষ্ঠান অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।

অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন মোঃ রেজাউল করিম, পরিচালক, DCRM Department ও CEA Focal, বাংলাদেশ রেড ক্রিসেন্ট সোসাইটি, জাতীয় সদর দপ্তর।

বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন মোঃ আমিরুল ইসলাম, CEA Manager; মোঃ মোশাররফ হোসেন খান, CEA Officer; হাবিবা সুলতানা, CEA Associate এবং রাঙামাটি ইউনিটের ইউনিট লেভেল অফিসার মোঃ মইনুল ইসলাম পলাশ।

এছাড়াও উপস্থিত ছিলেন যুব রেড ক্রিসেন্ট রাঙামাটি ইউনিটের উপ-যুব প্রধান-০১ মেহেরাজ উদ্দিন শান্ত, উপ-যুব প্রধান-০২ মোহাম্মদ ফাহিম উদ্দীন, যুব কার্যকরী কমিটির বিভিন্ন বিভাগের বিভাগীয় প্রধান ও উপ-প্রধানবৃন্দ এবং অসংখ্য যুব স্বেচ্ছাসেবক।

অনুষ্ঠানে সভাপতিত্ব করেন যুব রেড ক্রিসেন্ট রাঙামাটি ইউনিটের যুব প্রধান দেলোয়ার হোসেন তানভীর। অনুষ্ঠান সঞ্চালনা করেন প্রশাসন, সংগঠন ও নিয়োগ বিভাগের বিভাগীয় প্রধান মোঃ নুরুল আমিন জুবায়েদ।

আলোচনা সভায় স্বেচ্ছায় রক্তদান কার্যক্রমের গুরুত্ব, মানবিক মূল্যবোধ এবং নিরাপদ রক্তের প্রয়োজনীয়তা নিয়ে আলোচনা করা হয়। একইসঙ্গে নিয়মিত রক্তদাতাদের প্রতি সম্মান ও কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশের লক্ষ্যে তাদের মাঝে *"Find the Hero in You"* সম্মাননা ব্যাজ প্রদান করা হয়।

Bangladesh Red Crescent Society(BDRCS) উদ্যোগে এবং International Committee of the Red Cross Bangladesh (ICRC)-এর সহযোগিতায় রাঙামাটিতে ১৪-১৬ জুন ২০২৬ পর্যন্ত ৩ দিনব্যাপী Community Engagement & Accountability (CEA) প্রশিক্ষণ অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে।

এ সময় অনুষ্ঠানের সভাপতিত্ব ও উদ্বোধন করেন সোসাইটির রাঙামাটি ইউনিটের সম্মানিত ভাইস-চেয়ারম্যান এস. এম. শফিউল আজম। প্রশিক্ষণের উদ্বোধনী বক্তব্য প্রদান করেন সোসাইটির জাতীয় সদর দপ্তরের DCRM বিভাগের পরিচালক ও CEA ফোকাল জনাব রেজাউল করিম।

এ সময় প্রধান অথিতি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন রাঙামাটি ইউনিট ও রাঙামাটি জেলা পরিষদের সম্মানিত চেয়ারম্যান কৃষিবিদ কাজল তালুকদার এবং বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন রাঙামাটি ইউনিটের সম্মানিত সেক্রেটারি জনাব সাইফুল ইসলাম শাকিল এবং রাঙ্গামাটি ইউনিটের সম্মানিত ইউনিট লেভেল অফিসার জনাব মো: মইনুল ইসলাম পলাশ।

প্রশিক্ষণটি পরিচালনা করছেন সোসাইটির কেন্দ্রীয় CEA টিমের CEA Manager জনাব মোঃ আমিরুল ইসলাম, CEA Officer জনাব মোঃ মোশাররফ হোসেন খান, CEA Associate হাবিবা সুলতানা এবং ICRC-এর AAP Representative জনাব মোঃ শাবির হোসেন। অংশগ্রহণমূলক শিক্ষণ পদ্ধতির মাধ্যমে CEA-এর মূলনীতি বাস্তবায়নে প্রয়োজনীয় জ্ঞান ও দক্ষতা বৃদ্ধির লক্ষ্যে প্রশিক্ষণ কার্যক্রম পরিচালিত হচ্ছে।

উক্ত প্রশিক্ষণে রাঙামাটি, বান্দরবান ও খাগড়াছড়ি জেলার যুব রেড ক্রিসেন্টের ২৫ জন স্বেচ্ছাসেবক অংশগ্রহণ করছেন। মানবিক কার্যক্রমে কমিউনিটির অংশগ্রহণ, জবাবদিহিতা এবং কার্যকর যোগাযোগ নিশ্চিত করতে এই প্রশিক্ষণ গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করবে বলে আশা করা যায়।
