| Dengue Awareness and Cleaning Campaign |
On 16 and 17 September 2026, the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society(BDRCS), through the Nature Pulse Project with support from the British Red Cross, organized a Dengue Prevention Awareness and Community Cleaning Campaign across six target communities in Patharghata and Taltali Upazilas of Barguna.
The campaign brought together 626 participants, including students, Community Disaster Management Committees, Women Squads, WASH Committees and community members, creating a strong platform for collective learning and action.
Through community rallies, focused discussions, leaflet distribution and cleaning activities, participants learned about dengue transmission, how to identify potential Aedes mosquito breeding sites and personal protection measures.
Community members took practical action by inspecting their surroundings and removing discarded plastic bottles, containers and other water holding materials that could potentially become mosquito breeding sites. They also cleaned household surroundings, roadsides, school premises, drains and common community spaces. From understanding the risk to taking action against it, the campaign demonstrated the power of community participation in dengue prevention.
