Day 3 of the Journey:

The third day’s journey began at 6:00 AM from the bank of the Shibsa River. Walking along the elevated embankment, the route passed through Sutarkhali, Telikhali, Srinagar, Thakurbari Ghat, Ramnagar, Bhutemari and Dhangmari. On one side was the river, and on the other, the Sundarbans—sometimes walking under the shade of babla trees, sometimes alongside vast paddy fields, and at times experiencing the Sundarbans from remarkably close.
Then came an unexpected spell of rain. Despite a damaged umbrella, the journey continued. Shelter was eventually found at a nearby house, where an hour was spent waiting for the rain to stop. By then, the clothes were already soaked, and the road had become extremely slippery. The journey resumed through an alternative route, making the day a challenging yet memorable one.
From Baniashanta Bazar, the journey continued towards Amtali Camp Ghat. There, environmental activist Israfail Boyati joined the journey, and the Pashur River was crossed by boat to reach Mongla Ferry Ghat. At the ferry terminal, Nur Alam, Mongla Coordinator of DHORA and one of the key figures in the local environmental protection movement, along with several local residents, welcomed Tony with flowers.
The journey then continued to Kella, where a large human chain was organised by Pashur Waterkeepers Bangladesh and DHORA. The voices of local residents highlighted their struggles, pollution concerns and the urgent demand for safe drinking water. Concerns were also raised over air, river and environmental pollution associated with the nearby Rampal coal-fired power plant.
After passing through Kanainagar, the day’s 42-kilometre journey came to an end at Chila Bazar.
