Youth Action For Social Development -YASD Youth Action for Social Development (YASD) is a youth-led non-profit organization

We, the activists of YASD, have evolved as a youth cultural group and mandated social development work at grassroots right from the very outset. Our activists come from a very diverse socio-economic background and a common dream of sustainable and equitable living unify us very firmly. Thus, climate change, gender, and social justice remain as overarching in all of YASD’s activities. Our campaign

advocacy, interventions, research, and consultancy activities are on water, sanitation and hygiene, youth empowerment, climate change adaptation and mitigation projects, education promotion, child marriage protection, reproductive health of adolescent girls, and so on. YASD’s Vision is a pollution-free, healthy, green, safer, and prosperous life for all. MISSION: *Build a climate-smart society.

At the event, YASD Founder & Director Rokon Ahmed shared important opinions and recommendations on ensuring a just and sustainable transition away from fossil fuels in Bangladesh. Breaking the Silence - BTS আয়োজিত কমিউনিটি ভিত্তিক শিশু সুরক্ষা সংশ্লিষ্ট CSO সদস্যদের মতবিনিময় সভায় Youth Action For Social Development -YASD অংশগ্রহণ করেছে।

এই সভায় শিশু ও যুবদের মত প্রকাশের স্বাধীনতা, নিরাপদ ডিজিটাল পরিবেশ এবং নিরাপদ ইন্টারনেট ব্যবহারের গুরুত্ব নিয়ে আলোচনা করা হয়। পাশাপাশি অনলাইন নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিত করতে কমিউনিটি পর্যায়ে কী ধরনের উদ্যোগ নেওয়া যেতে পারে, সে বিষয়ে বিভিন্ন সংগঠনের প্রতিনিধিরা মতামত ও অভিজ্ঞতা বিনিময় করেন।

Today, Youth Action For Social Development -YASD participated in the Round Table Discussion on “Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, Nuclear Energy and Renewable Energy in Bangladesh,” organized by WePlanet Bangladesh in collaboration with The Dhaka Tribune and Farming Future Bangladesh (FFB).

During the discussion, YASD shared youth perspectives on Bangladesh’s energy transition and emphasized the importance of:

🌱 Expanding renewable energy solutions
⚡ Ensuring energy security and affordable electricity
🌍 Promoting climate justice and low-carbon development

Global Climate Strike 2026
জলবায়ু সংকট মোকাবিলা এবং সবার জন্য সাশ্রয়ী ও টেকসই জ্বালানি নিশ্চিত করার দাবিতে খুলনায় অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে “Global Climate Strike 2026”। Youth Action For Social Development -YASD এর আয়োজনে এবং 350.org Bangladesh এর সহযোগিতায় আয়োজিত এই কর্মসূচিতে অংশ নেন তরুণ জলবায়ু কর্মী, শিক্ষার্থী ও খুলনার কমিউনিটির মানুষজন।

এবারের কর্মসূচির মূল প্রতিপাদ্য ছিল “Energy Affordability”। অংশগ্রহণকারীরা বলেন, নিরাপদ ও সাশ্রয়ী জ্বালানি মানুষের মৌলিক অধিকার। কিন্তু জীবাশ্ম জ্বালানির উপর অতিরিক্ত নির্ভরতা, দূষণ এবং বৈশ্বিক জ্বালানি সংকট সাধারণ মানুষের জীবনযাত্রার ব্যয় বৃদ্ধি করছে এবং জলবায়ু সংকটকে আরও তীব্র করে তুলছে।

কর্মসূচিতে তরুণরা বিভিন্ন প্ল্যাকার্ড, স্লোগান ও সচেতনতামূলক বার্তার মাধ্যমে নবায়নযোগ্য জ্বালানিতে বিনিয়োগ বৃদ্ধি, Fossil Fuel নির্ভরতা হ্রাস এবং সবার জন্য সহজলভ্য ও পরিবেশবান্ধব জ্বালানি নিশ্চিত করার দাবি জানান।

এ বিষয়ে YASD খুলনার Project Manager Mithila Akter Showpna বলেন,

“জ্বালানি শুধু উন্নয়নের বিষয় নয়, এটি মানুষের জীবন, স্বাস্থ্য এবং ভবিষ্যতের সঙ্গে জড়িত। আমরা এমন একটি ভবিষ্যৎ চাই যেখানে পরিচ্ছন্ন ও সাশ্রয়ী জ্বালানি সবার জন্য নিশ্চিত হবে এবং তরুণদের কণ্ঠ নীতিনির্ধারণে গুরুত্ব পাবে।”

আয়োজকরা বলেন, জলবায়ু সংকট মোকাবিলায় এখনই টেকসই জ্বালানি ব্যবস্থার দিকে অগ্রসর হওয়া জরুরি। একই সঙ্গে তরুণদের নেতৃত্বে সচেতনতা ও গণআন্দোলন ভবিষ্যতের পরিবেশবান্ধব পৃথিবী গঠনে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখবে। 🌍✊🌱
