As we continue our celebration of International Girls in ICT Day 2026 under this year’s theme “AI for Development: Girls shaping the digital future,” we are proud to feature another inspiring young changemaker who is redefining possibilities through technology.

Meet Nasheetat Zainah Rahman — a three-time gold medalist at the International Robot Olympiad, whose journey reflects how curiosity, access, and mentorship can shape extraordinary outcomes.

What began with simple LEGO building evolved into a deep passion for robotics, sparked further by hands-on learning through the Bangladesh Robot Olympiad. Even though there were very few girls in this field in Bangladesh, Nasheetat stayed confident and kept moving forward.

Today, she is pursuing Engineering at the University of Alberta, contributing to advanced robotics projects and continuing to push boundaries. But beyond her personal achievements, her journey represents something bigger—a shift. From a time when girls were rarely seen in robotics teams for the international stage to now leading and excelling globally, she has been part of a quiet yet powerful movement.

On the occasion of International Girls in ICT Day 2026, we are proud to celebrate inspiring women who are shaping the digital future of Bangladesh in their own powerful ways.

Today, we are Celebrating the journey of Proma Chowdhury—an educator, researcher, and contributor to national-level ICT initiatives.

Proma is currently working as a Lecturer at East West University. She holds both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Software Engineering from the Institute of Information Technology, University of Dhaka and is actively engaged in research on software testing and AI systems, with a focus on making technology more reliable, transparent, and meaningful in real-world applications.

Beyond academia, she has played an important role in strengthening Bangladesh’s ICT ecosystem through her involvement with Bangladesh Open Source Network. Her contributions include serving as a problem setter for the AI Olympiad 2024 and 2026, coordinator for AI Olympiad 2025, and Head of the Judging Panel for the National High School Programming Contest 2025. Through these roles, she has helped design learning experiences that inspire young minds to think critically, creatively, and confidently in technology.

Her work reflects a strong commitment to shaping the next generation of problem-solvers and innovators—especially by making learning more inclusive, engaging, and impactful for students across Bangladesh.

As she believes, learning is not just about answers but about building confidence and connection—and that belief continues to influence both her teaching and research journey.

Hello Tech Enthusiast, Let’s Explore Robotics from Scratch!!

Bangladesh Open Source Network, in collaboration with MASLab, is organising a 1-month Robotics Foundation Camp with Block-Based Coding, designed especially for beginner-level students.

This hands-on course will give students their first experience with robotics using microcontrollers and help them understand how different robotic mechanisms work with a clear explanation of robotics theory.

Eligibility: Grade 4 to Grade 12
Course Duration: 1 Month
Class Start: 2nd May, 2026
Total Classes: 12
Class Duration: 2 Hours (10:30 - 12:30 pm)
Venue: Dhanmondi, Dhaka
Registration Fee: BDT 3,000
Seats Available: Only 12 (registration will close once seats are filled)

Important Information:
Every participant will receive a certificate of participation.

আজ রাজধানীর ধানমন্ডিতে বিডিওএসএন অফিসে অনুষ্ঠিত হল ২৭তম আন্তর্জাতিক রোবট অলিম্পিয়াডে অস্ট্রেলিয়ার গোল্ড কোস্ট শহরে গোল্ড মেডেল অর্জনকারী বাংলাদেশ দলের অভিজ্ঞতা বিনিময় সেশন। গোল্ড মেডেল বিজয়ী মোহাম্মদ আব্দুল্লাহ আল টিটু এবং ব্রোঞ্জ মেডেল বিজয়ী জুবাইদাহ জাফরিন, রিদোয়ান রাব্বানী ও প্রিয়ন্তী দাস নিজেদের পুরো অভিযাত্রার অভিজ্ঞতা শেয়ার করেন। পাশাপাশি উপস্থিত শিক্ষার্থীরা বিভিন্ন প্রশ্ন করে নিজেদের রোবট অলিম্পিয়াডের প্রস্তুতির বিভিন্ন বিষয়বস্তু সম্পর্কে ধারণা অর্জন করেন।

আন্তর্জাতিক আর্টিফিশিয়াল ইন্টেলিজেন্স (কৃত্রিম বুদ্ধিমত্তা) অলিম্পিয়াডের (আইওএআই) দ্বিতীয় আসরে বাংলাদেশ দুইটি ব্রোঞ্জ পদক লাভ করে। চীনের রাজধানী বেইজিংয়ে ২০২৫ সালের ২-৯ আগস্ট অনুষ্ঠিত এই অলিম্পিয়াডে ৭৩টি দেশের ৮৬টি দল অংশ নিয়েছে। ব্রোঞ্জ পদক পেয়েছে রাজউক উত্তরা মডেল কলেজের শিক্ষার্থী মো. রিয়াসাত ইসলাম ও সেন্ট জোসেফ উচ্চ মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার্থী আরেফিন আনোয়ার। বাংলাদেশ দলের বাকি দুই সদস্য মিসবাহ উদ্দিন ইনান ও আবরার শহীদ সম্মানজনক স্বীকৃতি পেয়েছে।

বাংলাদেশ দলের ব্রোঞ্জজয়ী সদস্য রিয়াসাত ইসলাম বলেন, ‘এবারের প্রশ্নগুলো সহজ ছিল না। তবে আমাদের চেষ্টা ছিল সমস্যাগুলো সমাধান করার।’ দলের আরেক সদস্য আরেফিন আনোয়ার বলেন, ‘এ বছর আইওএআই ছিল অন্য রকম। প্রতিযোগিতার ধরণ ছিল ভিন্নধর্মী এবং অনেক নতুন ধরনের সমস্যা ছিল। এগুলো নতুনভাবে চিন্তা করতে বাধ্য করেছে।’

চলতি বছরের আয়োজন হবে কাজাখস্তানে। বাংলাদেশ এআই অলিম্পিয়াডের মাধ্যমে নির্বাচিত হবে সেই দল।

২০২৪ সালের এআই অলিম্পিয়াড দলের সাফল্য নিয়ে দলের সদস্য আরেফিন আনোয়ারের লেখা

২০২৪ সালের ঈদের ঠিক আগে আগে জানা যায় কৃত্রিম বুদ্ধিমত্তা বা এআই-এর আন্তর্জাতিক অলিম্পিয়াড শুরু হবে। আয়োজকরা চায় বাংলাদেশও যেন এই আয়োজনে যুক্ত হয়। হাতে খুব কম সময় থাকার পরও প্রথম বারের মতো বাংলাদেশ পর্ব আয়োজন করা হয়। ৪৩ জন শিক্ষার্থী এতে অংশ নেয়। REVE Chat সহ কয়েকটি প্রতিষ্ঠান আমাদের পাশে দাঁড়ায়। আর একাডেমিক দায়িত্ব ও দলনেতার দায়িত্ব নেন ঢাবির অধ্যাপক B M Mainul Hossain ।

চারজনের একটি দল নির্বাচন করা হয় বুলগেরিয়ায়ে International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI) অংশগ্রহণের জন্য। ৮ আগস্ট নতুন সরকার দায়িত্ব নেওয়ার দুইদিন পর আমাদের দল রোম হয়ে বুলগেরিয়াতে পৌঁছে সেখানে অংশ নেয়।

এর আগে ভাগে আমরা জেনে যাই আন্তর্জাতিক অঙ্গনে আরও একটি আয়োজন হবে সেপ্টেম্বর মাসে। তার জন্য একই দলকে প্রস্তুত করা হয়। দলের সদস্যরা হলো Arefin Anwar, Misbah Uddin Inan, আবরার শহিদ ও রাফিদ আহমেদ। বুলগেরিয়ার অভিজ্ঞতা নিয়ে আমাদের দল সৌদি আরবের রিয়াদে IAIO তে অংশগ্রহণ করে। দলের সদস্য চারজনের দুইজন রৌপ্য ও দুইজন ব্রোঞ্জপদক পায়। চারজনের চারজনই পদক পেয়েছে এমন দেশ ছিল আর মাত্র দুটো। দলের সদস্য আরেফিন আনোয়ারের অভিজ্ঞতা ছাপা হয় সে সময় প্রথম আলো’তে।

দেশে হাইস্কুলের ছেলেমেয়েদের এআই-এর প্রতি আগ্রহী করে তোলা ও তাদের এ ব্যাপারে দক্ষ হতে সাহায্য করার মূল লক্ষ্য নিয়ে তৃতীয়বারের মতো bdAIO এর কার্যক্রম শুরু হয়েছে। এখন চলছে নিবন্ধন। আগ্রহীরা নিবন্ধন করতে পারে।

অলিম্পিয়াডে দুইটি প্রতিযোগিতা। একটি যারা ইতোমধ্যে ক্যাগল প্ল্যাটফর্মে এআই/এমএল সমস্যার সমাধান করতে পারে তাদের জন্য এআই অলিম্পিয়াড। আর যারা আগ্রহী, আরও জানতে চায় তাদের জন্য এআই কুইজ।

এআই অলিম্পিয়াডের বিজয়ীদের নিয়ে ধাপে ধাপে গড়ে উঠবে বাংলাদেশ এআই অলিম্পিয়াডের কয়েকটি দল। এরাই অংশ নিবে এশিয়া প্যাসিফিক অলিম্পিয়াড ইন এআই (APOAI) ও কাজাখস্থানের IOAIতে।

এবারই প্রথমবারের মতো আয়োজন করা হচ্ছে চারটি আঞ্চলিক পর্ব। তারপর হবে জাতীয় পর্ব। এবারের জাতীয় ক্যাম্পে উল্লেখযোগ্য সংখ্যককে আহবান জানানো হবে।
