JAGORON Officially Launches in Khulna to Empower Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship

On 23 September, the JAGORON Project began its journey in Khulna with a district-level inception and orientation workshop. The event brought together government officials, private sector representatives, training institutions, youth-led organizations, journalists and development partners to discuss opportunities for young people.

The event was graced by Ms. H**e Jannat, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Khulna, who stressed the importance of digital literacy, language proficiency and practical skills for changing job market. She noted the growing overseas demand for trained caregivers and encouraged young people to prepare for work before completing higher education. She also called for collective efforts to protect young people from drug abuse and assured the JAGORON Project of her full support.

Implemented jointly by SOS Children’s Villages Bangladesh and CARE Bangladesh, with funding from SOS Children’s Villages Worldwide e.V., JAGORON aims to connect young people with the skills and opportunities they need to pursue employment or entrepreneurship.

Over the project period, JAGORON aims to reach approximately 12,000 young women and men aged 18–35 in Khulna and Gazipur. Planned support includes technical, digital and green skills training, apprenticeships, employment support and entrepreneurship development. At least 50% of participants are expected to be women, with a focus on young people facing barriers to employment.

The workshop brought local partners together to discuss how these plans can become practical opportunities for young people.

Creating more room for children to read, discover and learn.

With support from United Finance, the Children’s Model Library at SOS Children’s Village Rajshahi is creating greater access to books, learning and discovery, giving children a dedicated space to explore ideas, build reading habits and nurture their curiosity beyond the classroom.

The inauguration was attended by Mr. Md. Sazzad Hossain, Assistant General Manager, Cluster Head, United Finance PLC, and Mr. Md. Abdur Rashid Sardar, Manager, United Finance Rajshahi Branch. On behalf of SOS Children’s Villages Bangladesh, they were warmly welcomed by Mr. Mohammad Sharif Khan, Programme Manager, SOS Children’s Village Rajshahi, and Mr. Arman Kabir Mahid, Corporate Fundraising Officer, alongside other colleagues from the organization.

SOS Children’s Villages Bangladesh is looking for an Intern – Education & Institutional Partnership Development for a 3-month paid internship in Dhaka.

If you are a final-year student or recent graduate interested in education, research and the development sector, this internship offers an opportunity to explore how research can inform meaningful work.

The intern will support education research and benchmarking, exploring schools and education institutions, emerging education models, policies, trends, innovations and good practices in Bangladesh and internationally. The role will also involve researching potential institutional partners, donors and funding opportunities, and preparing research briefs, comparative analyses and presentations.

We are looking for someone with strong research, analytical and communication skills who is organized, curious, eager to learn and comfortable working with information and data.

Eligibility: Final-year undergraduate students or recent graduates in Education, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Business Administration, International Relations, English or related fields.

Celebrating Youth. Inspiring Change. Building Futures.

To mark International Youth Day 2026, young people from SOS Children’s Villages Bangladesh, SOS Vocational Training Centre Dhaka, SOS Schools and Colleges, and Family Strengthening Programmes across the country came together—in person and virtually.

Through interactive discussions on career planning, employability, leadership, resilience and future-ready skills, participants were encouraged to pursue their aspirations, embrace continuous learning and lead positive change.

Government representatives, Bata Children’s Programe volunteers, SOS co-workers, care leavers, and professionals enriched the event with practical insights and real-life experiences.

Attending on behalf of the Chief Guest—the Director General of the Department of Youth Development—Ms Mariam Akhter, Deputy Director (Planning), encouraged young people to pursue success while creating opportunities for future generations and contributing to society.
