Tea cultivation plays a significant role in rural employment, export earnings, and sustainable agricultural development in many countries, including Bangladesh. At the same time, ensuring fair wages, safe working conditions, and environmental sustainability within tea production remains equally important.

On this International Tea Day, let us appreciate the hard work of tea growers, celebrate the rich heritage of tea cultivation, and encourage sustainable practices that support both people and the planet.

Every cup tells a story of dedication, tradition, and resilience.

Bees are among the most important pollinators in our ecosystem, playing a vital role in agriculture, biodiversity, and food production. Nearly one-third of the food we consume depends directly or indirectly on pollination by bees and other pollinators.

However, climate change, excessive pesticide use, habitat destruction, and environmental pollution are threatening bee populations worldwide. Protecting bees means protecting our crops, natural ecosystems, and future food security.

On this World Bee Day, let us raise awareness about the importance of pollinators and encourage sustainable agricultural practices that support a healthy environment for bees to thrive. Every flower planted and every harmful chemical reduced can make a difference.

Save the bees, sustain the planet.

[ Measles Alarm ]

হাম (Measles) একটি অত্যন্ত সংক্রামক ভাইরাসজনিত রোগ, যা শিশুদের পাশাপাশি প্রাপ্তবয়স্কদের মাঝেও দ্রুত ছড়িয়ে পড়তে পারে। সাধারণ জ্বর বা সর্দি মনে হলেও হাম কখনও কখনও মারাত্মক জটিলতার কারণ হতে পারে। বিশেষ করে অপুষ্ট শিশু, কম রোগপ্রতিরোধ ক্ষমতাসম্পন্ন ব্যক্তি এবং টিকা না নেওয়া মানুষ বেশি ঝুঁকিতে থাকে।

হামের প্রাথমিক লক্ষণগুলোর মধ্যে রয়েছে উচ্চ জ্বর, কাশি, নাক দিয়ে পানি পড়া, চোখ লাল হয়ে যাওয়া এবং শরীরে লালচে ফুসকুড়ি দেখা দেওয়া। অনেক সময় মুখের ভেতরে ছোট সাদা দাগও দেখা যায়। লক্ষণ দেখা দিলে অবহেলা না করে দ্রুত চিকিৎসকের পরামর্শ নেওয়া জরুরি।

হাম প্রতিরোধের সবচেয়ে কার্যকর উপায় হলো টিকাদান। শিশুদের নির্ধারিত সময়ে এমআর (Measles-Rubella) টিকা নিশ্চিত করতে হবে। পাশাপাশি আক্রান্ত ব্যক্তিকে আলাদা রাখা, পরিষ্কার-পরিচ্ছন্নতা বজায় রাখা, হাঁচি-কাশির সময় মুখ ঢেকে রাখা এবং পুষ্টিকর খাবার গ্রহণ রোগ প্রতিরোধে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখে।

সচেতনতা, সময়মতো টিকা এবং সঠিক স্বাস্থ্যবিধি অনুসরণই পারে হামের বিস্তার রোধ করতে। নিজের সুরক্ষার পাশাপাশি পরিবার ও সমাজের সুরক্ষাও নিশ্চিত করুন।

বাংলাদেশে হামের প্রাদুর্ভাব ভয়াবহ আকার ধারণ করছে। ইতোমধ্যে চার শতাধিক শিশুর মৃত্যুর সংবাদ জাতিকে গভীর উদ্বেগ ও শোকের মধ্যে ফেলেছে। একটি প্রতিরোধযোগ্য রোগের কারণে এতগুলো শিশুর প্রাণহানি কোনোভাবেই মেনে নেওয়া যায় না।

IAAS Bangladesh IUBAT সরকারের সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্তৃপক্ষ ও স্বাস্থ্য বিভাগকে দ্রুত কার্যকর পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণের জোর আহ্বান জানাচ্ছে। দেশব্যাপী টিকাদান কার্যক্রম জোরদার, সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি এবং প্রত্যন্ত অঞ্চলে স্বাস্থ্যসেবা নিশ্চিত করা এখন সময়ের দাবি।
