The ultimate target of ECA from the inauguration has been to better prepare the young and talented minds of the department of Economics to excel in the professional life. The vision of ECA is to empower students with knowledge and skills in order to develop them as sophisticated intellectuals, competent leaders, thus enabling them to reach the pinnacle of their chosen field. With these views in mi

nd, ECA tries to organize events focused on professional development of economics majors of the University of Dhaka. For instance, in this year, despite being set back by the pandemic, ECA rapidly turned the obstacle into a blessing by organizing a series of workshops throughout the year with the best academics and professionals of our country. The current agenda of ECA remains the same as its foundation one. In addition, ECA looks forward to a paradigm shift as the world around us is also encountering it with buzz words like big data, data science, machine learning, quantum computing, etc. The ECA YouTube channel features short clips of our various works and events. We are looking forward to bring some high quality tutorials in Bangla. Our key objectives are as follows:

Facilitate capacity building for students in order to meet career challenges

Provide students with the opportunities to receive career counselling and guidance

Equip students with marketable skills for diverse careers

Keep students aware of the latest developments in various professional fields

Create an interactive platform for leadership practices and teamwork

Provide networking opportunities for students with established professionals and alumni

Facilitate in developing students’ interpersonal skills and professional etiquette

Encourage intellectual stimulation among students on practical career related issues and applications

পহেলা বৈশাখ শুধু একটি তারিখ বা উৎসব নয়, এটি বাঙালির আত্মপরিচয়, সংস্কৃতি ও ঐতিহ্যের অবিচ্ছেদ্য অংশ। মুঘল সম্রাট আকবরের আমলে কর সংগ্রহের সুবিধার্থে যে বাংলা সনের সূচনা হয়েছিল, সেই হিসাব আজ রূপ নিয়েছে এক মহান জাতীয় উৎসবে। আর এই উৎসবকে আরও সমৃদ্ধ ও বৈচিত্র্যময় করে তুলেছে বিজু উৎসব। চাকমা, মারমা, ত্রিপুরাসহ পার্বত্য চট্টগ্রামের বিভিন্ন জনগোষ্ঠীর বিজু, সাংগ্রাই, বৈসু, বোহাগি উদযাপনের মধ্য দিয়ে নববর্ষ পায় এক অপূর্ব সামগ্রিকতা। তাদের ফুল বিজু, মূল বিজু, গান, নাচ, ঐতিহ্যবাহী পোশাক ও সম্প্রদায়িক মিলন আমাদের সংস্কৃতিকে করে তোলে আরও রঙিন ও অনন্য।

আধুনিক যুগে পহেলা বৈশাখ ও বিজু উৎসব একসাথে হয়ে উঠেছে বাংলাদেশের সকল শ্রেণি-পেশা-ধর্মের মানুষের মিলনমেলা। শহরের রাস্তায় মঙ্গল শোভাযাত্রা, গ্রামে বৈশাখী মেলা, পাহাড়ে বিজুর আনন্দ-আয়োজন আর ডিজিটাল দুনিয়ায় শুভেচ্ছার বন্যা, সব মিলিয়ে নতুন বছরকে স্বাগত জানাই হাসি-আনন্দে। রংবেরঙের পোশাক, মুখরোচক পান্তা-ইলিশ, পিঠা-পায়েস আর উষ্ণ হাসিমুখে ভরে ওঠে চারপাশ।

ইকোনমিক্‌স ক্যারিয়ার অ্যালায়েন্স এর পক্ষ থেকে সবাইকে জানাই শুভ নববর্ষের আন্তরিক শুভেচ্ছা। ইতিহাস ও ঐতিহ্যের হাত ধরে, উৎসবের প্রাণবন্ততায়, সকল বর্ণ-ধর্ম-গোত্রের মানুষ এক হয়ে, নতুন বাংলাদেশ গড়ার দৃঢ় প্রত্যয় নিয়ে পা রাখি এই নতুন বছরে।

বাঙালি জাতির ইতিহাসের অন্যতম গৌরবময় এক বাঁক হলো একাত্তরের ২৬শে মার্চ। এটি কেবল একটি তারিখ নয়, বরং দীর্ঘ সময়ের শোষণ আর বঞ্চনার শৃঙ্খল ভাঙার এক অদম্য প্রতীক। একটু পেছন ফিরে তাকালে দেখা যায়, শত শত বছর ধরে এদেশের সম্পদ লুণ্ঠন করা হয়েছে। কখনো বিদেশি বেনিয়ারা এসে আমাদের গোলাভরা ধান লুট করেছে। আবার কখনো ভিন্ন ভাষার শাসকেরা কেড়ে নিতে চেয়েছে আমাদের মৌলিক অধিকার। কিন্তু যখনই এই দেশের অস্তিত্ব নিয়ে টানাটানি পড়েছে, তখনই বাংলার কৃষক, শ্রমিক আর ছাত্র-জনতা সব বিভেদ ভুলে এক হয়ে ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়েছে।

"উদয়ের পথে শুনি কার বাণী,
ভয় নাই ওরে ভয় নাই,
নিঃশেষে প্রাণ যে করিবে দান
ক্ষয় নাই, তা’র ক্ষয় নাই।”
– রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর।

বিশ্বকবির এই অমোঘ বাণী বুকে ধারণ করেই একাত্তরের ২৬শে মার্চ বাঙালি জাতি মৃত্যুভয় তুচ্ছ করে ঘর ছেড়েছিল। স্বাধীনতার ডাক আসামাত্রই বাংলার পথে-প্রান্তরে তৈরি হয়েছিল অসংখ্য অকুতোভয় মুক্তিযোদ্ধাদের দল। দেশমাতৃকার এই টানে শুধু তরুণেরাই নয়, সেদিন পিছিয়ে থাকেনি বাংলার মায়েরা আর অকুতোভয় বীরাঙ্গনারাও। তাদের সবার মিলিত ত্যাগের মহিমা কবি শামসুর রাহমানের ভাষায় যেন মূর্ত হয়ে ওঠে:

“স্বাধীনতা তুমি
ফসলের মাঠে কৃষকের হাসি।
স্বাধীনতা তুমি
রোদেলা দুপুরে মধ্যপুকুরে গ্রামীণ মেয়ের অবাধ সাঁতার।”

ক্যালেন্ডারের পাতা উল্টাতে উল্টাতে আমরা আজ স্বাধীনতার ৫৫ বছর অতিক্রম করছি। একাত্তরের সেই উত্তাল দিনগুলোর কথা ভাবলে আজকের সব কষ্টই তুচ্ছ মনে হয়। রাতের পর রাত অনাহারে থেকেও যারা আমাদের একটি স্বাধীন মানচিত্র উপহার দিয়েছেন, তাদের সেই ঋণ শোধ করার ক্ষমতা আমাদের নেই। তবে অর্জিত এই স্বাধীনতার মর্যাদা রক্ষা করা আমাদের সবার দায়িত্ব।

এই বিশেষ দিনে আমাদের প্রত্যাশাগুলো খুব সাদাসিধে। আমরা চাই প্রতিটি মানুষ যেন তার ন্যায্য অধিকার পায় এবং খেটে খাওয়া মানুষগুলো যেন পায় তাদের অর্থনৈতিক মুক্তি। অগণিত প্রাণের বিনিময়ে অর্জিত এই দেশ যেন প্রতিটি নাগরিকের জীবনে সত্যিকারের স্বাধীনতার স্বাদ নিয়ে আসে। স্বাধীনতার এই মাহেন্দ্রক্ষণে ইকোনোমিক্‌স ক্যারিয়ার অ্যালায়েন্স (ইসিএ) পরিবারের পক্ষ থেকে সবাইকে জানাই আন্তরিক শুভেচ্ছা।

Eid arrives quietly this year, not just after a holy month of devotion, but in a world that feels heavy. While the days of Ramadan were spent learning patience and holding onto prayers, parts of the world were still breaking. Yet, as the crescent moon graces the sky, it brings a gentle reminder, beneath every difference lies a shared longing for peace and spiritual renewal. May this day bring comfort to a heavy world, and may all the quiet prayers of the holy month return as boundless blessings.

May this Eid fill our hearts with peace, home with warmth and wrap our days in grace and boundless joy. May the most beautiful smile sparkle on everyone’s face. And may every prayer whispered in Ramadan return as blessings in your life.

Beyond the celebrations of women's day, one in three women experience physical or sexual violence at least once in their lifetime.
We live in a world where a woman has to think twice before stepping out of home. From the invention of agriculture to the legislation of a country, women carried the spirit of hope and development. They give every ounce of their potential to build a nation, but in return they are bestowed with rapes, unbearable physical and mental traumas. Perhaps, verbal abuse has just become an inseparable part of their lives. This year women's day kindles the flicker to stand against all sorts of discrimination and conveys the message of "Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls." in order to ensure reciprocity in nation building.

On this International Women's Day, Economics Career Alliance, University of Dhaka (ECA) stands with- "Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls" and vows to demand justice for all discrimination against women.

The field of economics once had very few women. Today however, women are not just discovering groundbreaking economic theories, but also proposing prominent policies for socioeconomic welfare. Their contribution in economics can be significantly highlighted by the 3 female nobel laureates in this field. Even in Bangladesh, women are thriving in this field securing top positions in think tanks, legislation and academia. These leading ladies possess the expertise to make data-driven decisions and enhance the efficiency of public policies.

Economics is a discipline that deals with both numbers and human behaviour. Women are instinctively more sensible to these behavioral indicators. Consequently, the efficiency of economic policies can enhance if more and more women participate in economic research and policy making.

On the grand occasion of the International Women's Day, Economics Career Alliance, University of Dhaka proudly celebrates the contributions of women in Economics and hopes to see their participation increase exponentially in the coming years.

The lights of Ramadan illuminate more than mosques; what about the markets?

As Bangladesh enters the holy month, consumption surges, remittances flow and supply chains face heightened pressure. Essential commodity markets respond sharply, exposing both resilience and structural fragility across households, businesses and institutions. This recurring seasonal cycle is not merely a spike in spending, it is a predictable economic phenomenon that tests market responsiveness, regulatory capacity and institutional coordination.

On November 19-22, 2025, Economics Career Alliance, University of Dhaka proudly hosted ECA Quizverse 2025 Sponsored by Jamuna Paper Mills, an inter-hall quiz competition, which was a celebration of knowledge, competition and collaboration. With over 300 participants from across the University of Dhaka, the event was an undeniable success, setting a powerful foundation for QuizVerse as one of ECA's flagship initiatives.

To celebrate this achievement, on March 1, 2026, we came together at Dhaka's renowned Star Kabab & Restaurant for the ECA Ramadan Reunion x QuizVerse Retreat. The evening was vibrant, reflective and forward-looking.
For the first time ever under the ECA banner, we hosted an Iftaar party, uniting members from the previous panels to the fresher 104th batch, along with many respected alumni. The gathering strengthened our network and reignited our collective vision.

A dynamic panel-alumni discussion also took place, shaping the roadmap for the upcoming Expo.

It isn’t just another gathering; it is a tribute to the shared journey of our ECA family, a promised evening filled with warmth, pride and celebration!

In this blessed month of Ramadan, we cordially invite our alumni to join us as we commemorate the incredible success of the inaugural ECA QuizVerse, a milestone that showcased our teamwork and unwavering dedication. Now it’s time to relive that victory, applaud the hard work and celebrate the people who made it possible.

বাংলা এক বিস্ময়কর ভাষা। চৈতন, টিকি, আঁকড়ি, পাগড়ি থেকে শুরু করে প্রতিটি অনুভূতি, প্রতিটি বস্তু, প্রতিটি অবস্থার জন্যই রয়েছে নিজস্ব, নিখুঁত বাংলা শব্দ। আকাশের নীলিমা ‘নীল’, মনের উচ্ছ্বাস ‘উল্লাস’, হৃদয়ের গভীর বেদনা ‘বিরহ’, এমনকি সূক্ষ্মতম স্পন্দনও ‘আলোড়ন’। আর ‘অভিমান’, যার কোনো জুতসই ইংরেজি প্রতিশব্দ নেই। কাছাকাছি কিছু ইংরেজি শব্দ থাকলেও তার কোনোটিই এই অনুভূতিকে ঠিকঠাক ব্যাখ্যা করতে পারে না, এটাই তো আমাদের প্রাণের ভাষা বাংলার সম্পদ।

বিশ্বের বহু ভাষায় যেখানে একটি শব্দের গণ্ডিতেই অনেক অর্থ বেঁধে রাখতে হয়, সেখানে বাংলায় প্রতিটি ভাবের জন্যই রয়েছে আলাদা শব্দের ঐশ্বর্য, যেন ভাষাটি নিজেই জীবনের প্রতিটি ছোঁয়াকে আলিঙ্গন করতে চায়। এই সমৃদ্ধি আমাদের পরিচয়, আমাদের গর্ব। বাংলা শুধু ভাষা নয়, এ এক অসীম ভাবের ভান্ডার, যেখানে কোনো অনুভূতিই অব্যক্ত থাকে না।

আজ যখন মাতৃভাষায় প্রাণ খুলে কথা বলা যায়, মনের সবটুকু ভাব প্রকাশের জন্য একদম জুতসই একটি বাংলা শব্দ সহজেই মিলে যায়, তখন সেই মানুষগুলোর কথা মনে পড়াটাই স্বাভাবিক; যাঁরা এই বিশাল শব্দভান্ডার আর কথা বলার অধিকারটি আমাদের জন্য সুরক্ষিত করে গেছেন। বুকের তাজা রক্তে কেনা বর্ণমালায় বোনা প্রতিটি শব্দই বাঙালির চিরন্তন অহংকার।

শীতের কোমল রোদ এবং বসন্তের সুরেলি আগমনের সংযোগে বিদ্যাদেবী সরস্বতীর উপাসনা আমাদের জীবনে জ্ঞান, প্রজ্ঞা এবং শুদ্ধতার আহ্বান করে। বর্তমান সমাজের অন্ধকার দিক—অজ্ঞতা, কুসংস্কার এবং অবিবেচনা—এইসব যেন আধুনিক অসুরের মতো, যাদের ধ্বংসের জন্য প্রয়োজন বিদ্যা, বিবেক এবং মানবিক মূল্যবোধ।
