The Hunger Project (THP) is a global, non-profit, strategic organization committed to the sustainable end of world hunger. In Africa, South Asia and Latin America, THP seeks to end hunger and poverty by empowering people to lead lives of self-reliance, meet their own basic needs and build better futures for their children. y the largest volunteer-based non government organization covering all 63 districts. The Hunger Project works in rural areas to promote self reliance and the sustainable end of hunger through the training of local government leaders, women, and youth. The youth wing of The Hunger Project-Bangladesh, known as Youth Ending Hunger (YEH) active since 1995, is the country's largest volunteer social movement of youth. YEH members regularly organize localized campaigns for safe drinking water, nutrition and hygiene, immunization coverage and elimination of various social ills such as child marriage and dowry. At the same time, through their activities, the youth members develop their own organizational and leadership capacities and planning and ex*****on discipline to take on progressively larger challenges for nation building. The British Council in Bangladesh partnered with THP-BD in 2009 and started the Active Citizens Youth Leadership Programme in Bangladesh. Since then, through Active Citizens Youth Leadership Trainings, around 20,000 youth leaders have joined the cause.
