Marking the commencement of the Bengali New Year 1433, this day carries a rich historical legacy that traces back to the Mughal era, when the Bengali calendar was refined during the reign of Emperor Akbar to harmonize the lunar Islamic calendar with the agrarian cycles of the region. Since then, Pohela Boishakh has evolved into a unifying cultural milestone - transcending boundaries of class, faith and geography - deeply rooted in the collective identity and heritage of the Bengali people.

“Indeed, We sent it [the Qur’an] down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you know what the Night of Decree is? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.” (Surah Al-Qadr 97:1–3)

On this most sacred night of Shab-e-Qadr, when the heavens open with mercy and forgiveness, the Qur’an was first revealed as eternal guidance for humanity. It is a night when destinies are written, sins are forgiven, and sincere prayers are accepted. A night of light, peace and divine nearness to Allah.

May this blessed night purify our souls, strengthen our iman, and fill our lives with barakah and tranquility. Let us seek forgiveness, pray for the ummah, and embrace the mercy that descends upon us.
