আমার শৈশবের মত দামী,
আমার কান্না জড়ানো গান
মাথা উঁচু সেন্ট গ্রেগরি আমার,
সময়ের টানে ম্লান....

The idea of forming an association of former students of St. Gregory's first cropped up way back in 1982 when Gregorians from different batches assembled together for the Centennial Celebration of the school.

On 20th January, 1983, Gregorians in a dinner hosted by the Centenary Celebration Committee at the school vowed to form an association immediately

In keeping with the oft-quoted adage "Promises are made to be broken", our Gregorian brethrens erased from their memory the commitments they had made in the dinner.

However, to pacify the enraged Gregorians, Grn. Saud made Grn. Farooque of 58 batch hold a meeting at Dhanmondi Residence.
In that meeting, a committee was formed with late Grn. Fakir Shahabuddin Ahmed as the Chairperson and Grn. Tanvir A. Khan as the Member-Secretary to take steps necessary for forming an association.

After multuple attempts finally on 17th August, 1984, a meeting was held at the school. It was decided in that meeting that the Centennial Celebration Committee would be formally now styled as “The Gregorian Association” would be formed with the members of the Centennial Celebration Committee

Rev. Brother Gerald Kraeger CSC. Formed an Adhoc Committee of the Gregorian Association with Grn. Syed Mainul Haq ('63) as its Convenor.

A draft constitution enacted by Grn. Yousuf Rahman and Grn. Humayun Quader Chowdhury was placed and adopted.

During the next 11 month, innumerable meetings were held at different venues. During this period, the Invocation written by Brother Gerald CSC and the logo designed by Grn. Syed Ahsan Habib Rana ('79) were adopted.

Finally the installation ceremony of The Gregorian Association on 14th August, 1985

So as the first Executive Committee was formed to began the journey, which has now culminated to today, the 40th Foundation Anniversary

-Write up has been curated, compiled from the original article by Grn. Niamat Elahi, published in the commemorative 110th Anniversary Souvenir of St. Gregory’s High School.
