Bangladesh is one of the nations most significantly affected by the effects of climate change, due to its geographic location and greater susceptibility to natural catastrophes such as cyclones, floods, landslides, and earthquakes. Even though we have done remarkably little to improve the environment, climate change threatens the existence of our 160 million citizens. By the end of this century, a
significant proportion of Bangladesh will be submerged due to a 1-degree Celsius rise in global temperature and subsequent sea level
rise, pushing 40 million people to leave their homes. Every year, environmental damage and natural disasters cost us 2% of our GDP. Our capacity to produce rice and other crops is greatly harmed by climate change-induced salinity and other catastrophes. Scientists and researchers are working tirelessly to reduce the effects of climate change in Bangladesh or to reduce the effects of climate change around the world. But despite all this, the effects of climate change are increasing. New ideas can be adopted to tackle this problem, in which our youth can play an important role. We have created a shadow parliament to connect youth which is called 'Bangladesh Youth Climate Parliament. This parliament will have 300 Youth MP (Member of Parliament) from 300 parliamentary constituencies of the Bangladesh. Youth MP (Member of Parliament) will work with regional activists and present views, strategic plans, and ideas to Parliament on climate change impacts and mitigation in their respective regions. The objectives of 'BYCP' include-
● Introduce and connect young to climate change, awareness
building, and advocacy and to make future climate leaders.
● Combined two generations as they can share knowledge, thoughts, and ideas to a greater extent. Outcome from this platform:
● Policymakers and specialists will get some fresh ideas and thoughts from the youths.
● Youth will be able to broaden their knowledge and deeper insights from the wise men.
● Climate awareness activity, and climate advocacy practice will be enhanced in a different but fruitful way.
