A Platform for Advancement of the Underprivileged Children

Ekmattra Society was formed in 2003 as a Non-Profit Organization with the goal to build an equitable society where every child’s safety will be ensured and they will be treated equally regardless of their background or socio-economic class. The Fragmented dimensions of social class and deprivation facilitated the necessity to bring everyone in a single platform that will work for the advancement of underprivileged children. From its inception, Ekmattra has rescued more than 2 hundred children through Shelter Home and Academy. It is continuously giving holistic support including accommodation, food, education to more than 50 children through its academy at Mymensingh. Through Open Sky School, so far Ekmattra team has given more than 3000 children basic education and life skills. Ekmattra is now planning to establish a Roaming School in 6 key points of Dhaka city by which the school can go to the students on a regular basis to make access to education easier for the underprivileged children. Ekmattra’s Vision:

The vision of Ekmattra Society is to build a system where the children are cherished in a world free of discrimination and the society will ensure the development and security of the children by all means. In providing a secured future for a child, EKMATTRA dedicates its efforts through activism and being a passionate advocate of children’s rights. EKMATTRA would like to address all negative repercussions on children and ensure a child-friendly national and global development process.

Learning does not always have to stay within the pages of a textbook.

While learning greetings, two students at Ekmattra Academy created their own thumb puppets using simple materials. They then brought their lesson to life through play and conversation.

A lesson became something they could create, play with, and enjoy.

A delegation from the Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh, led by Mr. TORINARI Takehiro, First Secretary, visited Ekmattra-Dutch-Bangla Bank Academy in Haluaghat, Mymensingh, to observe the ongoing vertical extension of the Academy’s administrative building, supported through the Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGHSP) of the Government of Japan.

During the visit, the delegation reviewed the progress of the construction work and toured the Academy to learn more about its educational activities, residential facilities, and the overall environment provided for the children.

Supported through the GGHSP grant, the vertical extension will strengthen the Academy’s infrastructure and expand its capacity to provide a safer, more supportive, and child-friendly learning environment. The expanded facilities will also create opportunities for children from the surrounding community to access quality education alongside the children of the Academy.

Ekmattra Society sincerely appreciates the continued support and engagement of the Government and people of Japan and the Embassy of Japan in Bangladesh. This partnership is helping strengthen the Academy and create greater opportunities for children in Haluaghat.

Another Shikhon Utsob under the PEAK-3 project brought joyful learning to Gobrakura Government Primary School in Haluaghat, Mymensingh. The festival was organized by Ekmattra Society with funding support from Global Fund for Children.

Through playful, hands-on activities, children explored familiar textbook lessons in new and engaging ways. They practised numbers, sequencing and division through games while learning Bangla letters, words and punctuation through interactive activities. Children participated enthusiastically, learning by doing, exploring and sharing with one another. The active involvement of teachers and the school community made the festival even more vibrant, reflecting how learning can become more meaningful when it is joyful, participatory and child-centered.

We are delighted to mark another milestone in our partnership with Sumitomo Corporation Asia & Oceania Pte. Ltd. Dhaka Liaison Office through the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Over the years, Sumitomo Corporation has supported Ekmattra’s mission through sustainable initiatives in education and agriculture. Following the successful greenhouse initiative at Ekmattra Academy, this year’s support will establish a small dairy unit to provide fresh milk for the children and strengthen the Academy’s long-term self-reliance. Sumitomo Corporation also continues its annual support for HAPPY DAY, creating joyful and memorable experiences for the children of Ekmattra Academy.

We sincerely thank Sumitomo Corporation Asia & Oceania Pte. Ltd. Dhaka Liaison Office for their continued trust and commitment to creating lasting impact in the lives of children.

আজ একমাত্রা–ডাচ্-বাংলা ব্যাংক একাডেমিতে হালুয়াঘাট উপজেলা প্রশাসনের বিভিন্ন বিভাগের সম্মানিত কর্মকর্তাদের আন্তরিক উপস্থিতি আমাদের জন্য ছিল অত্যন্ত আনন্দের, সম্মানের ও অনুপ্রেরণার।

পরিদর্শনকালে উপস্থিত ছিলেন উপজেলা নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা (ইউএনও) জনাব ফয়সাল আহমেদ, সহকারী কমিশনার (ভূমি) জাকিয়া সুলতানা রোজি, হালুয়াঘাট থানার অফিসার ইনচার্জ জনাব মুহাম্মদ ফেরদৌস আলমসহ উপজেলা প্রশাসনের বিভিন্ন বিভাগের সম্মানিত কর্মকর্তাবৃন্দ।

পরিদর্শনের সময় তাঁরা একাডেমির শিক্ষা কার্যক্রম, শিশুদের সার্বিক বিকাশে পরিচালিত বিভিন্ন উদ্যোগ এবং শিক্ষার পরিবেশ সম্পর্কে অবগত হন। শিশুদের সঙ্গে আন্তরিকভাবে সময় কাটিয়ে তাঁদের উৎসাহ ও শুভকামনা ব্যক্ত করেন।

একমাত্রা–ডাচ্-বাংলা ব্যাংক একাডেমির প্রতি তাঁদের এই আন্তরিক আগ্রহ, মূল্যবান সময় এবং উৎসাহব্যঞ্জক উপস্থিতির জন্য আমরা আন্তরিক কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করছি। শিশুদের কল্যাণে আমাদের এই পথচলায় তাঁদের সহযোগিতা ও শুভকামনা আমাদের এগিয়ে যাওয়ার প্রেরণা হয়ে থাকবে।

সুবিধাবঞ্চিত শিশুদের শিক্ষা, নিরাপত্তা ও সম্ভাবনাময় ভবিষ্যৎ নিশ্চিত করার যে স্বপ্ন নিয়ে ২০১৮ সালের ২১ জুলাই যাত্রা শুরু হয়েছিল একমাত্রা-ডাচ্‌-বাংলা ব্যাংক একাডেমি। আট বছরের এই পথচলায় আমরা দেখেছি স্বপ্নের বিকাশ, সম্ভাবনার উন্মোচন এবং সাফল্যের গল্প। শিক্ষা, খেলাধুলা, সংস্কৃতি ও মানবিক মূল্যবোধের সমন্বয়ে প্রতিটি শিশুর জন্য গড়ে উঠেছে আত্মবিশ্বাসের এক নতুন ভিত্তি। এই অর্জনের পথচলায় পাশে থাকা সকল শুভানুধ্যায়ী, সহযোগী ও শুভাকাঙ্ক্ষীদের প্রতি রইল আন্তরিক কৃতজ্ঞতা।
