A wonderful contribution from Goethe-Institut Bangladesh to Oktoberfest 2026, hosted by BGCCI and the Embassy of Germany to Bangladesh! 🇩🇪✨

19 participants from our current B2 course took to the stage with their own “mini dramas” about Oktoberfest. Despite the short preparation time, they developed their own ideas, rehearsed, and delivered a lively performance.

A big thank you to all our B2 participants, German as a Foreign Language (DaF) expert Dr. Anja Doescher (trainer) for inspiring and guiding the group’s creativity, and Hasan Kamrul (teacher) for his support! 👏

Glimpses from the Book Launch on 13 October! 📚✨

The International Centre for the Study of Bengal Art (বঙ্গীয় শিল্পকলা চর্চার আন্তর্জাতিক কেন্দ্র) and Goethe-Institut Bangladesh jointly celebrated the publication of From Earth to Heaven: Many Voices of Gods and Goddesses, a two-part felicitation volume honouring distinguished German art historian and renowned authority on Bengal art, Gerd J. R. Mevissen.

H.E. Dr. Rüdiger Lotz, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Bangladesh, attended the event and emphasized the importance of cultural exchange in strengthening international ties.

Mr. Frank Werner, Director of Goethe-Institut Bangladesh, and Dr. Mohammad Nasir Uddin (Mobin), Executive Director (In Charge) of ICSBA, welcomed the distinguished guests. The event was chaired by Professor Dr. Niranjan Adhikary, Trustee of ICSBA and former Professor of Sanskrit at the University of Dhaka. The book was introduced by Professor Dr. Muhammed Shohrab Uddin, Head of the Department of Archaeology at Comilla University.

Held in a hybrid format, the event brought together academics, researchers, and cultural practitioners from Bangladesh and beyond, highlighting the strong cultural and scholarly ties between Germany and Bangladesh.

Sincere thanks to H.E. Dr. Rüdiger Lotz and everyone whose contributions made this occasion memorable.

Bringing together the scholarship of 37 archaeologists and art historians from Germany, Austria, Japan, the United States, England, Switzerland, Thailand, India, and Bangladesh, this landmark publication explores the rich artistic and cultural heritage of historical Bengal.

The book primarily explores various facets of the art history and archaeology of historical Bengal, specifically focusing on sculpture, architecture, and epigraphy, and offers fresh research insights into the region's cultural heritage.

The Dhaka Jute Lab brought together participants, designers, researchers, and practitioners to explore jute through conversations, hands-on experimentation, and collective making.

From fields and mills to fibre, thread, and new forms, the lab invited us to look at jute not only as a material, but as a living connection between people, land, livelihoods, knowledge, and place.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this shared space of learning, making, and imagining with jute.
