🎬IN THE BLIND SPOT (2023), Directed by Ayşe Polat
🔗 www.goethe-on-demand.de

Synopsis: The German documentary filmmaker Simone is interested in the fate of the Kurdish woman Hatice, whose son was abducted 25 years ago. But strange incidents soon overshadow the film team’s work. Alongside interpreter Leyla, who is accompanying the film crew, Melek appears, the neighbor’s daughter who is haunted by mysterious visions. From the fateful meeting of these individuals, a sinister dynamic develops. With her multi-perspective narrative in three chapters, the German-Kurdish filmmaker Ayşe Polat creates a brutal political thriller with remarkable subtlety.

With its intertwined narrative style, IN THE BLIND SPOT tells of watching, not looking away, observing and being observed, and finally, of supernatural providences. The dark machinations of political organizations merge with individual paranoia into a film that is both gripping and political.
