Reimagining ‘Cinderella’
Shekh Sadia Akter

What happens after Cinderella marries the prince?
Does the fairytale truly end with freedom—or does it simply begin another form of confinement?

This powerful feminist reimagining of Cinderella challenges the stories we grew up believing. Beneath the glittering palace, royal gowns, and glass slippers lies a world of surveillance, expectations, loneliness, and control. The prince wanted the perfect fit—but what if Cinderella no longer wanted to fit at all?

In this retelling, Cinderella is not waiting to be rescued. She questions beauty, rejects the politics of being “chosen,” and ultimately walks away from the palace to choose herself, her freedom, and her own destiny. The glass slipper becomes more than a fairytale object—it becomes a symbol of the impossible standards women are expected to live by. And breaking it becomes an act of liberation.

Sexual Violence as a Symbol of Power: A Review of Rajkahini (2015)
Aindri Dasgupta

Behind the stories of Partition lie countless silenced women.
Rajkahini (2015) revisits the brutal realities of displacement, sexual violence, and the policing of women’s bodies—while also portraying resistance, solidarity, and survival within the margins of history.

This reflection explores how sexual violence became a weapon of power, revenge, and control during Partition, and why women’s stories must remain central to our understanding of history.

Hundreds of families in Kathmandu are facing uncertainty as the government begins clearing informal settlements in Thapathali, Manohara, Sinamangal, and Gairigaun. Behind every eviction notice are lives, memories, and struggles for shelter and dignity.

Development and urban planning must center human rights, safe relocation, and justice for vulnerable communities. ✊🏽🏠

Stop forecd eviction.

Women Bear Hidden Costs of Mongla Port Expansion
Fariha Jesmin

Development should not come at the cost of women’s lives, livelihoods, and dignity. In Mongla, the impacts of dredging, climate pressures, and economic shifts are not felt equally—women are bearing the hidden costs. From losing income and land rights to facing rising health risks and violence, their labour sustains families and communities while remaining invisible and undervalued.

This piece brings forward the voices of women navigating loss, resilience, and injustice—revealing how large-scale development and climate agendas often overlook those most affected. It calls for urgent, gender-responsive action that places women’s safety, rights, and participation at the centre.

TBT to OBR Art workshop, Bangladesh

A two-day-long Art Workshop on the One Billion Rising 2026 theme "Rise for Our Bodies, Our Earth, Our Future!!!" was held on the Britto Arts Trust premises.
Attendees were very enthusiastically implementing their ideas, sharing thoughts with teammates and keeping their understanding of feminism growing. The best achievement was going to be the 'bonding of friendship' through this workshop, which is to be nurtured with great care. Friendship is required to make the 'change-makers' teams stronger to stand against all sorts of violence against women of all ages and genders.
