First Executive Committee Meeting & Discussion Session

The First Executive Committee Meeting & Discussion Session of the SAARC Youth Council – Bangladesh Chapter was held on Sunday, 16 August 2026, at Kurmitola Golf Club, Cantonment, Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The meeting was an important milestone for the Bangladesh Chapter,focusing on strengthening the organizational structure, expanding youth participation, developing national and divisional-level activities, and building stronger regional cooperation among young people across the SAARC region.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Khorshed Alam Apu, delivered a special address highlighting the importance of youth leadership, social responsibility, entrepreneurship, regional cooperation and the vital role of young people in building a better and more prosperous society.
Closing Remarks

The meeting concluded with the closing remarks of Mr. Ferdous Alamgir Khan, President, SAARC Youth Council – Bangladesh Chapter, who summarized the key discussions and provided guidance regarding the future direction and activities of the Bangladesh Chapter.

The programme concluded with an official Group Photography Session featuring the Chief Guest, Chair, Meeting Coordinator and members of the Executive Committee.
Expected Outcomes

The First Executive Committee Meeting has laid an important foundation for the future activities of the SAARC Youth Council – Bangladesh Chapter. The meeting emphasized organizational development, active membership participation, divisional expansion, registration, financial transparency and the preparation of a comprehensive one-year programme plan.

Most importantly, the meeting aims to contribute to stronger youth leadership, cultural understanding, regional cooperation, skills development and people-to-people connectivity among the SAARC member states.

Pakistan is a country with a rich history, diverse traditions, beautiful landscapes, and a proud cultural heritage. From the ancient civilizations of the Indus Valley to the historic cities, magnificent mosques, traditional music, literature, art, and vibrant cultural traditions, Pakistan has made an important contribution to the history and heritage of South Asia.

The independence of Pakistan on 14 August 1947 marked a significant chapter in the history of the region. Since then, the people of Pakistan have continued to build their nation with courage, resilience, hard work, and hope.
On this special day, we celebrate not only the freedom of Pakistan but also the values of peace, unity, friendship, and cooperation among the people of South Asia.

The SAARC Youth Council believes that the youth of South Asia can play a vital role in creating a peaceful, prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable future. The SAARC Youth Council (SYC) is proud and delighted to extend its heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Abhishek Tiwari of Nepal on his appointment as Joint Secretary General of the SAARC Youth Council.

Mr. Tiwari is an accomplished young leader, social activist, organiser, and public figure with extensive experience in social development, equality, youth engagement, community service, and public affairs. Through his long-standing involvement with various national and international organisations, he has demonstrated strong leadership, organisational ability, and a sincere commitment to serving society.

He has served in important positions in different organisations, including Secretary General of Rastriya Samata Party Nepal, Secretary General of the WHF Nepal Chapter, Spokesperson of the Social Development Committee (SDC), and Advisor to the Mayor of Birganj Metropolitan City, Nepal. He has also contributed to initiatives focused on women’s awareness, social equality, community development, and youth empowerment.

With his academic background, international exposure, multilingual communication skills, and experience participating in seminars and social initiatives both in Nepal and abroad, Mr. Tiwari brings valuable knowledge and a broad perspective to the SAARC Youth Council.
We firmly believe that his vision, dedication, leadership qualities, and experience will strengthen the activities of the SAARC Youth Council and contribute meaningfully to youth empowerment, regional cooperation, equality, social development, and stronger connections among the young people of South Asia.

It is a proud and historic moment for Bangladesh!Heartiest congratulations to Mohammad Abdur Rahaman(Sohag Mohajon) on being elected as the Secretary General of the SAARC Youth Council (SYC) for the next two-year term. As one of the first Bangladeshis to serve in this distinguished leadership position, his election is not only a personal achievement but also a remarkable honor for the people of Bangladesh.

Sohag Mohajon is widely recognized as a social worker,youth organizer,media personality and international youth leader with more than two decades of dedicated service to youth development,social welfare,environmental protection, and international cooperation.His journey reflects integrity,commitment, visionary leadership, and an unwavering passion for empowering young people.

As the Founder and Secretary General of the Global Youth Development Council (GYDC), he has successfully built a global youth movement across 23 countries,connecting thousands of young leaders from Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. Through his leadership, numerous international youth summits, conferences, and social initiatives have inspired collaboration, innovation, and peace among young people worldwide.
One of his most remarkable contributions is the Project 3E (Environment, Education & Empowerment), a global initiative that promotes environmental conservation, quality education, youth leadership, entrepreneurship, and employment opportunities. Through Project 3E, he has inspired thousands of young people to become responsible citizens and changemakers, while working toward a sustainable and inclusive future.

His leadership has also transformed Clean River Bangladesh mobilizing over 7,500 volunteers across 43 districts to protect rivers and raise environmental awareness. In addition, through Dhaka Youth Club International and many other organizations, he has led hundreds of impactful programs that have positively influenced countless young people.

Throughout his career, Sohag Mohajon has represented Bangladesh on international platforms, collaborated with global organizations, and received more than 100 national and international awards for his outstanding contributions to youth empowerment, social service, and environmental leadership.

Today, as he assumes the role of Secretary General of the SAARC Youth Council, millions of young people across South Asia look forward to his inspiring leadership. We firmly believe that his experience, honesty, dedication, and visionary approach will strengthen regional cooperation, promote youth leadership, and create new opportunities for the next generation.

SAARC Youth Council Bangladesh Chapter Official Inauguration Ceremony

The Official Opening Ceremony of the SAARC Youth Council (SYC) Bangladesh Chapter was successfully held on 4 August 2026 at Meritage Dhaka Buffet,Dhanmondi,Dhaka, bringing together distinguished guests,youth leaders,entrepreneurs and social activists with a shared vision for regional youth cooperation.
The oath-taking ceremony was administered by the Secretary General of the SAARC Youth Council,Ambassador Sohag Mohajon,who attended as the Chief Guest.The event was also graced by Guests of Honour including Khorshed Alam Opu,Dr.Zahid Ahmed Chowdhury,Ferdous Alamgir Khan,Ln M. Azharul Islam Dulal (Joint Secretary,Central Executive Committee),Mannan Bhuiyan (Chairman, Manab Kallyan Parishad),Md. Billal Hossain,Gazi Akkas Ali, and many other distinguished personalities.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Ferdous Alamgir Khan was officially nominated as President of the SAARC Youth Council Bangladesh Chapter for the next two years, while Md Saimul Islam was nominated as Secretary General. More than fifty renowned youth organizers, entrepreneurs and community leaders participated in the program.The event concluded with a group photo session and a dinner reception.

In their speeches,the speakers emphasized that Bangladesh,the birthplace of the SAARC vision,has a historic responsibility to strengthen regional cooperation among the SAARC nations. Through the SAARC Youth Council Bangladesh Chapter, stronger partnerships will be built in youth leadership, entrepreneurship, self-employment, skills development, education, cultural exchange, business networking, volunteerism, innovation, environmental awareness, peacebuilding, and regional diplomacy.

The Bangladesh Chapter is committed to creating opportunities for young people through leadership training, startup and entrepreneurship support,vocational and digital skills development, employment and self-employment initiatives, youth exchange programs, cultural cooperation, business collaboration, and sustainable development projects.

The Council will also work to strengthen friendship and mutual understanding among the youth of all SAARC member countries while contributing to the socio-economic development of Bangladesh.

The SAARC Youth Council (SYC) is proud to announce the appointment of Captain Bhawana Pant,Senior Captain of Nepal Airlines as the Vice President of the SAARC Youth Council (SYC).

Captain Bhawana Pant is one of South Asia's most distinguished aviation professionals with over 25 years of aviation experience, 14,000+ flight hours, including 4,000+ hours commanding the Airbus A320.She made history by leading Nepal's first all-women international flight crew,becoming an inspiration for women and young leaders across the region.
Her remarkable achievements in aviation, flight safety, leadership, mentoring, and international operations reflect the values of excellence, professionalism, and dedication that the SAARC Youth Council proudly upholds.
We are confident that her experience, vision, and commitment to youth empowerment will greatly strengthen the mission of the SAARC Youth Council in promoting:
