Air Vice-Marshal Khademul Bashar, Bir Uttom, is a celebrated figure in Bangladesh's history, recognized for his exceptional contributions during the Liberation War of 1971. As the commanding officer of the 6th Sector, Bashar demonstrated remarkable valor and strategic acumen. He was the third Chief of Air Staff of the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) in 1976.

Before the Liberation War, Bashar served as the Senior Operations Officer at Tejgaon Air Base, overseeing the security of Dhaka International Airport until March 27, 1971. In May 1971, along with Group Captain A. K. Khandker and other pilots, he defected to India, escaping the conflict. Bashar was one of only two BAF officers appointed as a Bangladesh Defence Force/Muktibahini (BDF) Sector Commander, with Colonel M.A.G. Osmani appointing him as the BDF Commander of Sector 6. After the country's independence, he served as the Air Officer Commanding of BAF Base Tejgaon.

Tragically, on September 1, 1976, Air Vice-Marshal Bashar lost his life in a plane crash. This date is now commemorated annually to honor his legacy. In recognition of his contributions, the BAF Base at Tejgaon has been renamed Base Bashar.

The BAF Shaheen College Dhaka BNCC Flight pays tribute to his steadfast dedication and patriotism on Khademul Bashar Day, remembering his heroic actions and the profound impact of his service.
