Based on the experiences, lessons and realities gained from the Santa Marta Global Dialogue we are arranging a open forum

Today, the Climate Policy Explainer Program of Bangladesh Youth COP hosted an engaging and insightful session at Global Platform Bangladesh.

We had the privilege of learning from Prof. Ainun Nishat, a renowned water resource expert and respected academic. His reflections on climate policy, water security, and leadership offered powerful insights and meaningful inspiration to all participants.

Representatives from OAB Foundation actively participated in this important session, contributing to and benefiting from this dynamic learning platform.

Organized by Brighters in collaboration with ActionAid Bangladesh, this initiative continues to equip young climate advocates with the knowledge and capacity to understand, shape, and influence climate policy for both people and the planet.

A successfully held workshop titled “Sustainable Development and Institutional Good Governance: The Role of Youth Organizers” focused on enhancing youth skills development and strengthening institutional governance.

The workshop brought together representatives from various voluntary and youth organizations, including OAB Foundation, Arise Youth Foundation, Prothom Alo Bondhusova Rangpur, Lal Sobuj Society, Volunteer For Bangladesh, and Dhrubotara Youth Development Foundation, among others.

The event was jointly organized by YES Group (Youth Engagement and Support) and Shocheton Nagorik Committee (SNC), Rangpur.

We are delighted to share the Country Consultation Meeting on Debt Campaign in Bangladesh, organized with members and partners of the Asian Peoples’ Movement on Debt and Development (APMDD).

The session was enriched by the presence of Lidy Nacpil, whose powerful insights on global debt issues and people-centered solutions inspired meaningful discussions among all participants.

Hosted by COAST Foundation, the meeting created a strong platform to explore the global economic situation, its impacts on communities, and collective strategies for debt justice and sustainable development.

Which path will shape Bangladesh’s energy future fossil fuels or a just transition to renewable energy?

Bangladesh is now at a critical turning point. Continued dependence on fossil fuels is not only intensifying climate risks, but also increasing economic pressure through import dependency and energy insecurity. This pathway is no longer sustainable.

On 11 April 2026, a consultation titled “Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels in Bangladesh: Justice and Finance Perspectives” was held, jointly organized by Dhoritri Rokkhay Amra (DHORA), Waterkeepers Bangladesh, and the Fossil Fuel Treaty Initiative.

The consultation brought together experts, activists, and stakeholders to reflect on Bangladesh’s energy future.
Key insights from the discussion include:

🔹 Transitioning away from fossil fuels requires equitable and transparent climate finance
🔹 Import-dependent energy is increasing economic pressure and threatening national energy security
🔹 Renewable energy is no longer optional it is the only sustainable path forward
🔹 A just transition is not possible without strong policy and legal reforms

Most importantly, experts emphasized that the transition must be realistic, inclusive, and people centered ensuring that no one is left behind. It must protect livelihoods, empower communities, and create opportunities for a sustainable future.

The future of energy will shape our economy, environment, and the lives of future generations. The time to act is now.
