When we say Islam, we often understand it to mean only a few acts of worship such as prayer, fasting, Hajj, and Zakat. In a society raised with narrow thinking, the concept of Islam has been limited and reduced in this way. People also assume that Islam is only about dealing with mosques and madrasas. As a result, Islam—meant to guide the entire system of life—is now being misrepresented even in our thoughts and consciousness. Yet Islam is not so restricted in scope.
Islam is not so small or limited in its domain. From the individual to the family, society, and the state—Islam has full presence everywhere. In economics, social policy, politics, statecraft, military affairs, and the judicial system—Islam provides complete guidance in every field. In short, Islam is a comprehensive way of life for human beings.
But when the unfortunate Muslim nation abandoned the life system prescribed by Shariah and adopted man-made systems as the key to success, they faced failure and loss in both this world and the Hereafter. Today, when disgrace and unrest have engulfed them worldwide, and when disorder and frustration are clearly visible in every sphere, they are beginning—though late—to realize the harmful effects, injustice, and shortcomings of man-made systems. Gradually, many are regaining the awareness that Islam is the only path to freedom from these problems. That is why interest in Islam is now growing, and many people are searching through various sources and mediums to understand Islam in its complete form.
