**Successful Cleft Lip and Palate Surgeries by OBAT Helpers**
OBAT Helpers continues to extend its impactful work by addressing critical healthcare needs in underserved communities across Bangladesh. On this occasion, the organization successfully facilitated life-changing cleft lip and palate surgeries for children from underprivileged, neglected, and vulnerable backgrounds. This initiative underscores OBAT Helpers’ commitment to improving lives and bringing hope to those in need.
Before the surgeries, the OBAT Helpers Bangladesh team held a strategic meeting with the Director of City Hospital. The meeting was attended by Md Mohiuddin, President of the OBAT Helpers Executive Board; Shakil Ahmed, Executive Director; and APM Mahfug Alam. During this session, the OBAT team discussed the organization’s mission, vision, and ongoing projects. The City Hospital authorities expressed their appreciation for OBAT Helpers' impactful initiatives, strengthening the partnership that made this project possible.
On the surgery day, five children received successful cleft lip and palate surgeries, with three additional surgeries scheduled for the following Monday. In total, eight children will benefit from this initiative. The children and their families traveled from various regions of Bangladesh, demonstrating the desperate need for such healthcare services.
The children who underwent surgeries today include:
- **Bayzid**: 6-month-old baby
- **Shanjida Khatun**: 9-month-old baby
- **Tohina Akter**: 11-year-old child
- **Sara Muni**: 7-month-old child
- **Shahadat Al Kader**: 3-year-old baby
Each of these families faced significant challenges but found hope and support through OBAT Helpers' dedication and resourcefulness.
These surgeries mark a turning point in the lives of the children and their families. By addressing a condition that often leads to stigma and health complications, OBAT Helpers has given these children the opportunity to lead healthier and more confident lives. This initiative also reaffirms the organization’s dedication to addressing critical healthcare needs and empowering marginalized communities.
