🔹 Women Peacekeepers: Breaking Barriers, Building Peace

Today, on the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers, we celebrate the dedication, courage, and leadership of peacekeepers serving in some of the world’s most challenging environments.

In this video, Lt Col Farzana Bashar Liza, afwc, psc, Arty, Instructor at BIPSOT and a female peacekeeper, shares what it means to have access to a dedicated training facility designed to support women preparing for deployment.

Through the “Enhancement of the Capacity of BIPSOT to Train Female Peacekeepers” project, implemented by UNOPS and supported by the Elsie Initiative Fund (EIF), a dedicated accommodation facility is being developed at BIPSOT to strengthen training capacity and remove barriers that can limit women’s participation.

As we honour UN peacekeepers today, we also reaffirm the importance of investing in the systems and infrastructure that help make peacekeeping more inclusive, representative, and effective.

📊 Strengthening inclusive development through data.

UNOPS Bangladesh, in collaboration with Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), organized an “Advocacy Session on Gender-Segregated Data Collection” under the Accelerate SDG Localization in Bangladesh project.

The session brought together government representatives, local authorities, civil society organizations, and development stakeholders to advance the collection and use of gender-segregated data for SDG localization.

Focusing on SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions), the initiative aims to strengthen evidence-based policymaking, improve localized SDG reporting, and ensure that no one is left behind.
