🎉Happy International Gibbon Day!🎉
Today, as we celebrate all gibbon species and their incredible place in our world's forests, we are thrilled and humbled to finally introduce our newest research initiative: The Wild Ape Project, Phase 1.
In this phase, we have initiated exploring the spatial ecology and conservation science of Western Hoolock Gibbon in six forests in Northeast Bangladesh. This project is our committed step towards understanding and protecting this magnificent canopy dwellers. Through rigorous field research, multi-level engagements, and collaborations, we aim to gather crucial data to inform effective conservation strategies for this endangered primate. None of this would be possible without the dedicated advisors, especially Mr. Tanvir Ahmed Shaikot, a PhD student at the German Primate Center in Germany, Mr Md. Sakhawat Hossain, Assistant Professor at Jagannath University in Bangladesh, and Mr. Sabit Hasan, a PhD student at University of Texus at San Antonio in USA.
Our core team includes-
• Atikul Islam Mithu: Principal Investigator
• Sajid Hassan Prangon: Project Manager
• Shimul Nath: Project Coordinator
We are also immensely grateful to our funders, whose belief and financial support have turned this vision into a reality.
Stay tuned for updates from the field, fascinating facts about the Western Hoolock Gibbon, and ways you can help!
