🧬 4-Day Hands-on Bioinformatics Workshop on Bacterial Genomics
The Bangladesh Society of Microbiologists (BSM), in association with the Department of Microbiology, BRAC University, is pleased to announce an intensive hands-on workshop:
Bacterial Genomics: Decoding the Resistome, Virulome & Phylogeny
🎯The workshop is designed to provide students, researchers, and professionals with practical, research-oriented skills in bacterial whole-genome analysis, from raw sequencing data to genomic interpretation.
🔬 What you’ll learn: Genome assembly & quality assessment; bacterial identification & AMR detection; genome annotation, virulence & plasmid analysis; phylogenetic & comparative genomic analysis; Linux command-line basics; and visualization & R basics.
💻 Prerequisites & Device Requirements: Participants should have:
1. Completed at least the 3rd year of an undergraduate program in microbiology or related subjects or
2. Have a good foundational knowledge of bacterial genetics.
3. A Linux-based operating system and a laptop with 16 GB RAM (Min. 8GB) are recommended for hands-on analyses.
4. Basic familiarity with Linux is advantageous, not mandatory.
