*Official Statement from Bangladesh Association of Cosplayers*

We reached out to S. M. Mahathir, head of Deshi Comic Con management, and asked why he was allowing confirmed sexu@l into an event where cosplayers and other attendees would be present ~ and actively promoting them. Despite 35–40 of us stating that the individuals themselves had admitted to the acts, he still demanded “proof.”

Separately, he allowed his marketing team to bring in an obscene, vulgar attention-seeker from one of their previous events as a guest. When challenged, he tried to justify it by “giving her a chance.” The same person had already damaged the pop culture space we have spent a decade building. He later claimed the controversial twerking performance happened under Eventors BD but under a different event name, so it somehow did not count.

When we directly asked whether he still trusted and respected the cosplay community, his response was: “You all are trying to sabotage my event, that’s why you are banning these people recently.”

We cannot and will not accept this.

This is someone who has previously been friends with cosplayers and even co-organised events with cosplayers. Yet he is now choosing to platform sexu@l and vulgar viral figures while dismissing cosplayers as “just a small segment” of his event. He has also claimed he would rather run an empty event than go against his morals. We fail to understand how defending , demanding proof after public admissions, and booking vulgar attention-seekers for extra tickets constitutes any form of morality.

Therefore, BAC is officially boycotting Deshi Comic Con in a united manner. We will be adding further measures to this boycott. We do not know what other communities will decide, but if there is no respect or trust for cosplayers, BAC will have no involvement whatsoever.

In previous boycotts, we only discouraged our members from attending. This time we are going further:
Any BAC member who involves themselves with these supporters of and promoters of vulgarity will face a 2-year suspension or permanent cancellation of membership. No exceptions.

They can call this sabotage or whatever they like. We do not care. We will not stand with people who stand with and sell out basic standards for a few extra tickets.

*Official Statement from Bangladesh Association of Cosplayers (BAC)*

Ahmed Zidan Chowdhury is hereby permanently banned from the Bangladesh Association of Cosplayers.

After our previous ban of the two sexu@l , this 26-year-old individual actively supported them. He then bl@ckmailed the victim, demanding the expose post be taken down and threatening that it would “create problems” in the victim’s life. He bluffed about taking legal action and attempted to frame the victim for instigating n@de p@ddling. When the victim refused to comply, he forced a junior cosplayer to repeatedly harass the victim into deleting the post.

An emergency meeting was held involving BAC members and leaders from other communities. When confronted, Ahmed Zidan Chowdhury acted nonchalant and deliberately rage-baited everyone present. That confrontation opened the floodgates. Our inbox was immediately hit with 18 – 20 separate complaints against him. These were not vague allegations ~ multiple cases came with voice clips, video recordings, and screenshots.

The list of reported behaviour includes:
- Lying about dementia, dual personality disorder, and other illnesses to gain sympathy and manipulate people
- Bl@ckmailing girls with n@des and s@x clips
- Threatening others over their personal connections
- Attempting to money from cosplayers’ parents
- Inappropriately hugging and t@uching female cosplayers without consent
- Making the same unwanted advances toward women who barely know him (including BAC leaders and management)
- Forcing cosplayers to wear costumes they were uncomfortable with
- Advancing on m!nor cosplayers and making inappropriate proposals while being a 26-year-old adult
- Gr@oming m!nor cosplayers and sponsoring their cosplays to keep them silent
- Manipulating and threatening others into staying quiet
- Taking cosplay materials and elements on loan and never returning them
- Consistent unsportsmanlike behaviour toward fellow cosplayers

The list continues far beyond this.

We openly acknowledge our own failure. He was part of this community and others for a long time, and not enough people spoke up strictly enough before last night. We failed to build an environment where victims felt safe coming forward earlier. That ends now.

Anyone who continues to support or defend Ahmed Zidan Chowdhury after this will also be banned.

We are currently speaking with the victims and preparing to pursue legal and other appropriate actions against him.

If you have any additional information, evidence, or complaints regarding his behaviour, reach out directly to BAC leadership or management. We will take it seriously.

This ban is permanent and non-negotiable.

*Official Statement from Bangladesh Association of Cosplayers (BAC)*

Tanjina Afroz Mahi and Tarannum Zaman Khan Bushra (Mash) are hereby permanently banned from the Bangladesh Association of Cosplayers.

These two individuals forced themselves on a male cosplayer, sexu@lly assaulted him, and later issued explicit r@pe threats against him. This community does not tolerate sexu@l assault, coercion, or r@pe threats from anyone~ regardless of gender. No means no. Consent is not optional, and the idea that women cannot be the aggressors is a disgusting fantasy that has no place here.

We will not allow either of them at any event organised or co-organised by BAC. We strongly encourage every organisation we collaborate with to issue the same ban and refuse them entry.
Pop culture and cosplay in Bangladesh have been built over a decade of hard work by people who actually give a damn about this scene. We have never had to deal with degenerates of this calibre before.

To the victim: responding to r@pe threats with r@pe jokes is pathetic and only cheapens what happened to you.

To the other people who sat in that group chat, watched the r@pe threats fly, and did absolutely nothing: this is your formal warning. Silence in the face of that behaviour makes you complicit.

We are left questioning what kind of morals, ethics, or basic human decency society, friends, family, or any institution ever managed to instil in any of the people involved. Clearly not enough.

This is not negotiable.

The Bangladesh Association of Cosplayers wishes to inform the community that we formally terminated our partnership with Cosmic Forum for the Cosmic Omniverse event several months ago. While our previous collaboration saw moderate success largely due to the outstanding efforts of our dedicated cosplayers and core team, we made this decision following repeated instances of arrogance, rudeness, and unprofessional behaviour exhibited by the head organiser, Sartaz Awal. In recent weeks, we have been inundated with inquiries from concerned cosplayers, vendors, investors, and pop culture enthusiasts regarding the lack of transparency surrounding the event, which has now been postponed twice ~ first from May to June, and then from June to July ~ raising serious doubts among attendees. For absolute clarity, BAC is no longer affiliated with Cosmic Forum or the Cosmic Omniverse event in any capacity and therefore cannot assist with refunds, contracts, or legal matters related to it. We strongly advise all stakeholders to engage directly with the organisers and seek independent advice where necessary. Moving forward, we are officially banning Cosmic Forum and Sartaz Awal from any future collaborations, partnerships, or participation in BAC events to uphold the standards of professionalism, respect, and accountability that our association stands for. We remain committed to fostering a positive and transparent environment for the Bangladeshi cosplay community and appreciate your continued trust and support.
