In other words, heightened awareness campaigns may produce detection rather than there actually being more incidents. Conflating the two leads to misinterpretation of trends and misallocation of resources. Kathleen Murray Preble and Jennifer E. O'Brien write..

As U.S. cities prepare to host the FIFA World Cup, familiar warnings about human trafficking “spikes” at major sporting events have reemerged.

There has always been a dissonance between Saudi Arabia, the big brother, and smaller GCC states, particularly, the UAE. In any regional arrangement, there is concern that the largest state would seek to exercise the most influence. Javed Gaya writes...

The idea of an Indian alliance with Israel and the UAE, which some on the Indian right have projected, is particularly delusional.

Democracy dies loudly elsewhere. In Pakistan, its demise is being institutionalised quietly - ballot by ballot, promise by promise. Today, every party is confident of its (s)election.

Zillur Rahman

CGS’s BD Pledge Tracker monitors how political parties are turning their 2026 election pledges into action.

The May Monthly Report reviews the ruling party’s pledge implementation based on the BNP Election Manifesto 2026, while also tracking the opposition activities of Jamaat-e-Islami and the National Citizens Party (NCP).

The report finds a mixed picture. While the government advanced some welfare, economic, and administrative initiatives, major structural and institutional reforms remained limited and politically disputed. The opposition also remained active through Parliament, rallies, legal engagement, and political mobilization.
