This year’s theme, “My Health, My Right,” reminds us that every woman deserves access to safe, respectful, and timely healthcare.

On this World Health Day, Shaathi organized a health camp in the Rayerbazaar slum, Dhaka, reaching 100 women and girls with consultations, initial diagnosis, and support for their gynaecological health concerns. Creating spaces where women feel safe to seek care and be heard is essential to upholding this right.

We extend our sincere thanks to Gold Kinen for supporting this initiative and helping make healthcare more accessible to those who need it most.

Real conversations are happening in Rayer Bazaar.

Through courtyard sessions and door-to-door visits, Shaathi is working closely with women and girls to create awareness about safe and clean menstrual hygiene practices and break the silence surrounding menstruation.

With the generous support of The Khan Foundation and in partnership with JAAGO Foundation, we are also introducing eco-friendly reusable sanitary pads as a sustainable and safe alternative to disposable products.

Every conversation matters. Every woman informed is a step toward dignity, health, and confidence.

This blessed month, Shaathi is preparing Zakaat food packages for underprivileged families so they can observe Ramadan with dignity and ease. Each package includes essential and special Ramadan items:

• Rice • Daal • Besan • Oil • Chola Boot • Sugar
• Suji • Milk powder • Chira • Shemai

These items are carefully selected to support families throughout the month — from daily meals to iftar and special gatherings.

Access to menstrual products should never be a barrier to education. Through Shaathi’s Pad Bank initiative in schools, girls are able to access sanitary pads when needed, helping them attend classes consistently and participate in learning with confidence and dignity.

By creating supportive school environments and promoting menstrual health awareness, we are working to reduce absenteeism, challenge stigma, and ensure that every girl can continue her education without interruption.

For the first time, these students in Rayerbazaar are sitting in front of a computer—learning, clicking, exploring, and imagining new possibilities.

In partnership with OCS, Shaathi helped install computers in underprivileged schools that never had access to digital learning before. This is more than equipment; it’s a first step toward digital literacy, confidence, and ensuring no child is left behind in an increasingly digital world.

Because every child deserves the opportunity to learn new skills, dream bigger, and shape their own future.

With the support of The Khan Foundation, and in collaboration with JAAGO Foundation, we are creating awareness on safe and clean menstrual hygiene practices in the Rayerbazaar slum, Dhaka. Through door-to-door outreach and courtyard sessions, we are engaging with women and adolescent girls to break taboos, address cultural barriers, and introduce environment-friendly reusable pads as a safe and sustainable alternative.

We have successfully begun the pilot phase and received encouraging responses from the community. In the coming weeks, this initiative will expand to school-based sessions, alongside continued door-to-door activities, courtyard discussions, and health camps.

Step by step, we are working towards informed choices and dignified menstrual health for all.
