IBCCI Delegation Participates in Destination Tripura: Business Conclave 2026
A high-level business delegation from the India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI), led by its President Mr. Md. Moshiur Rahman, participated in the Destination Tripura: Business Conclave 2026, held on 9–10 July 2026 at the International Fair Ground, Hapania, Agartala, Tripura, India. The IBCCI delegation comprised nine distinguished business leaders and professionals representing different sectors.
Upon arrival in Agartala, the IBCCI delegation received a warm welcome from officials of the Government of Tripura, along with Mr. Sujit Roy, Secretary of the IBCCI Tripura Chapter, and other members. During the visit, the delegation also attended a special meeting hosted by the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh in Agartala, which was attended by the H.E. Mr. M. Riaz Hamidullah, High Commissioner of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to New Delhi, India as Cheif Guest that provided an important opportunity to exchange views on strengthening trade, investment and economic cooperation between Bangladesh and India, particularly with Tripura and the wider Northeastern region. In a significant step forward, H.E. Mr. Riaz Hamidullah announced 1-year multiple-entry business visas for eligible Tripura businesspersons, alongside tourist visas for their family members a positive move that will further strengthen trade, business, and people-to-people connectivity.
Organized by the Government of Tripura, the two-day conclave brought together nearly 500 investors, entrepreneurs, industrialists, policymakers and government officials from India and several countries, including Bangladesh, Japan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Nepal and Bhutan. The event was inaugurated by Dr. (Prof.) Manik Saha, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tripura, and featured high-level addresses, sectoral presentations, B2G meetings, one-to-one interactions, networking sessions and the exchange of MoUs. Discussions and presentations highlighted investment opportunities in key sectors such as information technology and digital infrastructure, healthcare, tourism, agriculture, higher education, agarwood, skill development, real estate and urban development.
The visit produced valuable outcomes for the IBCCI delegation. It enabled direct engagement with senior government officials, policymakers, investors and business leaders; helped identify potential areas for cross-border trade and investment; and opened new avenues for future business partnerships between Bangladesh and Tripura. The delegation exchanged views on improving trade facilitation, connectivity and business-to-business cooperation and explored opportunities for greater collaboration in promising sectors. The interactions also strengthened institutional and business networks between IBCCI, the Government of Tripura and the local business community.
Overall, the participation of the IBCCI delegation in Destination Tripura: Business Conclave 2026 marked another important step towards strengthening economic connectivity between Bangladesh and Tripura. IBCCI remains committed to facilitating meaningful business partnerships, promoting bilateral trade and investment, and contributing to a stronger and mutually beneficial economic relationship between Bangladesh and India, with particular emphasis on Tripura and the Northeastern region.
