IBCCI Holds 106th Board Meeting

The India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI) successfully held its 106th Board Meeting on 22 August 2026 at the IBCCI Secretariat, Dhaka, through hybrid mode under the chairmanship of the Hon’ble President. The meeting featured fruitful discussions on strengthening the Chamber’s activities, enhancing bilateral business engagement, and several important organizational matters.

The Board unanimously approved 8 new membership applications and discussed measures to strengthen IBCCI’s participation in business events in India.

During the meeting, Vice President Mrs. Meherun Nessa Islam proposed to organize a seminar titled “Advancing Bangladesh–India Textile Trade through Logistics Collaboration” on 3 September 2026, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center, Purbachal, Dhaka. The proposal received the support of the Board, with members expressing their willingness to contribute to the successful organization of the programme.

The Board also appreciated Director Maulana Eyaqub Sharafati’s initiative to publish the first-ever IBCCI Directors’ Directory, which will help enhance networking, visibility, and business connectivity among IBCCI Directors and stakeholders.

CII High-Level Business Delegation Visits Bangladesh

A 14-member high-level business delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), led by Mr. Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, CII, paid a three-day visit to Bangladesh from 17–19 August 2026.

The delegation comprised senior representatives from leading Indian companies and institutions, including Bharat Biotech, Godrej Industries, Arvind Limited, Mahindra Group, Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Forbes Marshall, Numaligarh Refinery Limited, Apollo Hospitals, Indian Oil Corporation, and others.

On 18 August 2026, the delegation paid courtesy calls on and had meetings with Hon’ble Commerce Minister Mr. Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, Hon’ble Finance and Planning Minister Mr. Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, and Hon’ble State Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Shama Obaid Islam at the Bangladesh Secretariat. The meetings focused on strengthening bilateral trade and investment and exploring new avenues of economic cooperation between Bangladesh and India.

Following these meetings, the delegation participated in an important interaction with leading business representatives of Bangladesh at the FBCCI Hall Room. The programme was graced by Hon’ble Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Mr. Abdul Awal Mintoo, as the Guest of Honour, followed by a luncheon.

IBCCI President Mr. Md. Moshiur Rahman and IBCCI Director Mr. Subrata Kumar Dutta participated in the business interaction and exchanged views with the CII delegation on key Bangladesh–India trade and investment issues, including expanding bilateral trade, strengthening B2B partnerships, promoting investment, addressing business challenges, and exploring new areas of industrial cooperation.

In the evening, IBCCI President attended a dinner hosted by the High Commission of India (HCI) at Hotel Westin, Dhaka, arranged in honour of the visiting CII delegation. He exchanged greetings and views with H.E. Mr. Dinesh Trivedi, High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, and members of the visiting delegation.

It may be recalled that IBCCI has maintained a close and longstanding institutional relationship with CII, including through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at promoting stronger business and economic cooperation between Bangladesh and India.

As part of this continued partnership, IBCCI Secretary General S. M. Abul Kalam Azad welcomed and greeted Mr. Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General, CII, during an earlier CII engagement in New Delhi. On 17 May 2024, IBCCI also had the honour of felicitating Mr. R. Dinesh, the then President of CII, at the Durbar Hall of Hotel Taj Palace, New Delhi, as a gesture of appreciation for his contribution to strengthening Bangladesh–India business relations.

The continued engagement between IBCCI and CII reflects the commitment of both organizations to building stronger business-to-business relations, facilitating investment, promoting bilateral trade and creating new opportunities for the business communities of Bangladesh and India.

1st Meeting of the Membership Standing Committee of IBCCI Held

The 1st Meeting of the Membership Standing Committee of the India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI) was held today, 11 August 2026, at 10.00 am, at the IBCCI Secretariat, Dhaka.

The meeting was presided over by Mr. Deepak Kumar Baral, Convenor of the Membership Standing Committee. The meeting was attended by Mr. A. T. M. Altaf Hossain Lotus, Member of the Committee; S M Abul Kalam Azad, Secretary General of IBCCI; and Mr. Sanjib Kumar Bala, Admin Officer, IBCCI.

The meeting focused on the overall membership framework, procedures, and strategies for strengthening and expanding IBCCI’s membership base. The participants held a constructive and detailed discussion on the existing membership procedures and explored ways to make the process more efficient, transparent, accessible, and business-friendly for prospective members.

Particular emphasis was placed on developing effective strategies to increase membership, attract new corporate and individual members, retain existing members, and enhance the engagement and participation of members in IBCCI’s activities. The Committee also discussed the importance of strengthening communication with prospective members and creating greater awareness about the various opportunities, services, and benefits available through IBCCI membership.

The participants further emphasized that a strong and diverse membership base is essential for enhancing IBCCI’s role as a leading platform for promoting bilateral trade, investment, business networking, and commercial cooperation between Bangladesh and India.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to undertake appropriate initiatives and formulate practical recommendations for further developing the membership of IBCCI and ensuring greater value and engagement for its members.

The 105th Board Meeting of IBCCI

The 105th Meeting of the Board of Directors of the India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI) was held on Monday, 29 June 2026, at the IBCCI Secretariat in Mohakhali, Dhaka, through hybrid mode. The meeting was presided over by IBCCI President Mr. Md. Moshiur Rahman and attended by the Vice Presidents, Honorary Treasurer, Directors, and the Secretary General.

The Board confirmed the minutes of the 104th Board Meeting with a minor amendment and discussed a number of important organizational and trade-related matters. Expressing concern over the comparatively low number of new members enrolled during the current fiscal year, the Board emphasized the need to strengthen the Chamber’s membership base. It was unanimously decided that all Directors would take proactive initiatives to encourage new memberships.

The India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IBCCI) arranged a dinner for the Members of its Board of Directors on 13 July 2026 at Darbar Restaurant, Gulshan Club, Dhaka. The dinner was graciously hosted by the President and two Vice Presidents of IBCCI.

Most of the distinguished Directors attended the evening and engaged in cordial interactions and discussions on business, trade, and matters of mutual interest. The gathering provided a valuable opportunity for the Board Members to exchange views, strengthen professional relationships, and enjoy an evening of fellowship and camaraderie.

IBCCI Delegation Participates in Destination Tripura: Business Conclave 2026

A high-level business delegation from the India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI), led by its President Mr. Md. Moshiur Rahman, participated in the Destination Tripura: Business Conclave 2026, held on 9–10 July 2026 at the International Fair Ground, Hapania, Agartala, Tripura, India. The IBCCI delegation comprised nine distinguished business leaders and professionals representing different sectors.

Upon arrival in Agartala, the IBCCI delegation received a warm welcome from officials of the Government of Tripura, along with Mr. Sujit Roy, Secretary of the IBCCI Tripura Chapter, and other members. During the visit, the delegation also attended a special meeting hosted by the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh in Agartala, which was attended by the H.E. Mr. M. Riaz Hamidullah, High Commissioner of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to New Delhi, India as Cheif Guest that provided an important opportunity to exchange views on strengthening trade, investment and economic cooperation between Bangladesh and India, particularly with Tripura and the wider Northeastern region. In a significant step forward, H.E. Mr. Riaz Hamidullah announced 1-year multiple-entry business visas for eligible Tripura businesspersons, alongside tourist visas for their family members a positive move that will further strengthen trade, business, and people-to-people connectivity.

Organized by the Government of Tripura, the two-day conclave brought together nearly 500 investors, entrepreneurs, industrialists, policymakers and government officials from India and several countries, including Bangladesh, Japan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Nepal and Bhutan. The event was inaugurated by Dr. (Prof.) Manik Saha, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tripura, and featured high-level addresses, sectoral presentations, B2G meetings, one-to-one interactions, networking sessions and the exchange of MoUs. Discussions and presentations highlighted investment opportunities in key sectors such as information technology and digital infrastructure, healthcare, tourism, agriculture, higher education, agarwood, skill development, real estate and urban development.

The visit produced valuable outcomes for the IBCCI delegation. It enabled direct engagement with senior government officials, policymakers, investors and business leaders; helped identify potential areas for cross-border trade and investment; and opened new avenues for future business partnerships between Bangladesh and Tripura. The delegation exchanged views on improving trade facilitation, connectivity and business-to-business cooperation and explored opportunities for greater collaboration in promising sectors. The interactions also strengthened institutional and business networks between IBCCI, the Government of Tripura and the local business community.

Overall, the participation of the IBCCI delegation in Destination Tripura: Business Conclave 2026 marked another important step towards strengthening economic connectivity between Bangladesh and Tripura. IBCCI Delegation Participates at the Bangladesh Trade and Investment Conference 2026

The President of the India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI), Mr. Md. Moshiur Rahman, participated in the Bangladesh Trade and Investment Conference 2026, held at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, Dhaka, on 13 June 2026. He was accompanied by a distinguished six-member IBCCI delegation comprising former President Mr. Mohammad Ali, Advisor Mr. M. Shoeb Chowdhury, former Honorary Joint Secretary General Mr. Ad Abdul Wahed, Director Mr. A K M Saifur Rahman, Mr. Md. Abdul Aziz, and Secretary General S. M. Abul Kalam Azad.

The conference brought together policymakers, business leaders, development partners, investors, diplomats, and other key stakeholders to discuss Bangladesh’s evolving trade and investment landscape ahead of its graduation from Least Developed Country (LDC) status. The event provided an excellent platform for meaningful engagement and networking, enabling participants to exchange views on trade, investment, finance, economic resilience, and regional cooperation.

During the conference, the IBCCI delegation had the opportunity to interact with leading national and international stakeholders and explore avenues for strengthening economic partnerships and promoting greater bilateral and regional trade. Discussions highlighted Bangladesh’s commitment to economic reforms, investment facilitation, trade diversification, and enhanced economic diplomacy. Particular emphasis was placed on attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), fostering public-private collaboration, and building a resilient and competitive economy capable of sustaining long-term growth.

The conference successfully reinforced confidence in Bangladesh’s economic potential and investment attractiveness, while underscoring the country's strategic position as an emerging regional hub for trade, industry, and investment. IBCCI President Attends the SAFE HVAC-R and Cold Chain Expo 2026

A three-day international exhibition titled “SAFE HVAC-R and Cold Chain 2026” began on Thursday at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka. Savor International Limited has organised the event and features the latest technologies, products, and innovations in the HVAC-R and cold chain sectors.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, adviser to the prime minister on finance and planning, as the chief guest. In his speech, he stated that the government plans to simplify tax policies and investment regulations to create a more business-friendly environment for both local and foreign investors. He also mentioned that by eliminating market irregularities and ensuring transparency, Bangladesh has the potential to emerge as one of the world’s leading investment destinations in the future. Referring to investment trends in Vietnam and Indonesia, he expressed optimism that Bangladesh could soon become a major regional investment hub. He further invited international investors, especially from Türkiye, to expand their investment activities in Bangladesh. The organisers said the exhibition aims to create opportunities for networking, collaboration, and exchange of experience among local and foreign investors, entrepreneurs, industry experts, and policymakers. The event is also expected to help attract new investment and expand business opportunities in the HVAC-R and cold chain industries. Among others present at the event were Bilal Belyurt, commercial counsellor, the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Dhaka; Li Xiao, director, Yunnan Commercial Representative Office in Bangladesh; Lutfar Rahman Talukder, president, Bangladesh Air-Conditioning Equipment Importers Association (BAEIA); Md Moshiur Rahman, president, India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI); Anwar Shahid, president, Bangladesh Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI); Anwarul Islam, president, Bangladesh Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Merchants Association (BRAMA); Al Emran Hossain, president, ASHRAE Bangladesh Chapter and Bangladesh Green Building Academy; Md Hasmotuzzaman, former president, ASHRAE Bangladesh Chapter; and Md Faizul Alam, managing director, Savor International Limited.
Secretary General of the India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, S M Abul Kalam Azad, also attended the programme alongside the president. IBCCI participated in the Expo as a Knowledge Partner.
In his speech, Md Moshiur Rahman emphasized the importance of regional business cooperation and technology exchange between Bangladesh and India. A delegation from TCI Bangladesh Pvt. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Transport Corporation of India Ltd. (TCI), paid a courtesy call on with the President of IBCCI, Md. Moshiur Rahman, along with the Secretary General of the Chamber. The meeting was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, where both parties exchanged views on potential areas of cooperation and the growing importance of efficient logistics in enhancing bilateral trade.

During the visit, the delegation shared an overview of their business operations and highlighted the range of logistics and supply chain services they provide. As an integrated multimodal logistics company, TCI Bangladesh specializes in cross-border transportation between India and Bangladesh, offering services such as customs clearance at both borders, door-to-door delivery, and complete end-to-end supply chain solutions. They emphasized their commitment to efficiency, transparency, and reliable service delivery to support modern business needs.

The 104th Meeting of the Board of Directors of the India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI) was successfully held on 25th April 2026 at the IBCCI Secretariat, Dhaka, in a hybrid format. The meeting was presided over by President Md. Moshiur Rahman and attended by distinguished Vice-Presidents, Directors, and the Secretary General.

Key decisions included confirmation of the previous meeting minutes, restructuring of Standing Committees from eleven to eight for improved efficiency, and approval of two new corporate memberships. The Board also reviewed and revised service charges for membership-related certificates, effective from July 2026.

Several strategic initiatives were discussed, including strengthening member engagement, preparing for a courtesy call on the Hon’ble Commerce Minister, enhancing IBCCI branding, and expanding membership outreach. The meeting also emphasized regular committee activity, upcoming delegation planning, and strengthening bilateral business facilitation between India and Bangladesh.
