We, Rathedaung Society for Peace and Development (RSPD) Team, together with the Rohingya community, solemnly observe Happy Mother’s Day 2026, celebrated on Sunday, May 10, 2026, in the United States and many other countries, honoring mothers and mother figures for their love, care, and support. While this day is usually marked with family gatherings and heartfelt appreciation, Rohingya mothers in the camps of Cox’s Bazar and across Arakan continue to face hardship, displacement, and uncertainty, and many are unable to celebrate this occasion with their children.

We pay tribute to their resilience, strength, and unconditional love, which continue to inspire hope even in the most difficult circumstances. On this meaningful day, we stand in solidarity with Rohingya mothers everywhere and reaffirm our respect, gratitude, and commitment to advocating for their dignity, rights, and a future where they can live in peace with their families.

We, the Rathedaung Society for Peace and Development (RSPD), together with the Rohingya community, sincerely express our heartfelt congratulations and appreciation for the visit on 6 May 2026 by a high level delegation from Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by H.E. Shama Obaed Islam, MP, Hon’ble State Minister for Foreign Affairs, along with RRRC and other representatives, to the Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar.

The delegation toured camps in Ukhiya, observed key humanitarian services including food distribution centers, learning facilities, healthcare services provided by Doctors Without Borders MSF, and women led initiatives in Kutupalong, and engaged directly with Rohingya community representatives.

During the visit, the Hon’ble State Minister met with youth and women leaders, reaffirming Bangladesh’s continued commitment to improving camp conditions and supporting the safe, voluntary, and dignified repatriation of Rohingya refugees to Rakhine Arakan State. The visit also included a stakeholder meeting with representatives from the United Nations, NGOs, and relevant agencies, focusing on the ongoing Rohingya humanitarian response.

This marks the first high level visit by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the camps under the current administration, reflecting Bangladesh’s sustained leadership in addressing the Rohingya crisis.

The Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal have increasingly become perilous routes for Rohingya refugees seeking safety and dignity. Over the past decade, more than 5,000 individuals have been reported missing or dead along these dangerous maritime paths. Alarmingly, in 2025 alone, nearly 900 Rohingya were reported missing or dead in Southeast Asian waters, making it the deadliest year on record, according to UNHCR Global Spokesperson Babar Baloch.

This ongoing tragedy underscores the urgent need for coordinated international action to address the root causes of displacement and to ensure safe, legal, and humane pathways for those fleeing persecution.

World Health Day 2026: Urgent Action Needed for Rohingya Healthcare

We, the Rathedaung Society for Peace and Development (RSPD) Team, observe World Health Day on April 7, 2026, under the theme “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures,” and stand with the global community in advancing efforts to end preventable maternal and newborn deaths. This campaign, led by the World Health Organization, highlights the urgent need to strengthen maternal and neonatal healthcare systems to ensure healthier futures for women and children worldwide.

We also draw attention to the ongoing Rohingya crisis, where displaced Rohingya patients, especially mothers and newborns, face limited access to essential healthcare across Arakan State, Myanmar, and in refugee camps in Bangladesh. We urge the international community to take immediate and inclusive action to ensure equitable healthcare and uphold the dignity and well being of all.
