Interview: A Journey to Success with the National 2nd Position Holder
Interviewer: Arakan Rohingya Cultural Association (ARCA)
Interviewee: Muhammad Abbas (2nd Merit Position, Al-Hai'ah Al-'Ulya Central Exam)
ARCA: Assalamu Alaikum. To begin, please introduce yourself and share your future dreams with our readers.
Muhammad Abbas: Wa Alaikumus Salam. I am Muhammad Abbas, son of Zahid Alam. I was born in Raimong Khali. Since childhood, I have had a deep passion for seeking Islamic knowledge. By the grace of Allah, the prayers of my parents, and the guidance of my teachers, I am now on this path of learning. My dream is to acquire profound knowledge of Deen to serve the Ummah and spread the true teachings of the Quran and Hadith.
ARCA: How did it feel to secure the 2nd position in such a major nationwide examination? Who was the first person you shared this joy with?
Muhammad Abbas: To be honest, it was a pleasant surprise. I never imagined Allah would bless me with such a great honor. It is purely by His grace. Upon receiving the results, I first informed my elder brother, Sheikh Muhammad bin Abdus Sabur (Hafizahullah). He is the pillar of my education; he supported me financially and provided the necessary books and constant encouragement.
ARCA: What was your study routine or special method for mastering the vast syllabus of Dawra-e-Hadith, especially Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim?
Muhammad Abbas: Alhamdulillah, our teachers provided a structured routine from the start. We gave great importance to the 'Muqaddimah' (introductions) of every book. I specifically memorized the Muqaddimah of Dars-e-Tirmidhi. I also made regular notes on scholarly differences (Ikhtilaf). A month before the exams, we followed a rigorous revision system that solidified our preparation.
ARCA: How much did the environment and teachers of Patiya Madrasah contribute to your success?
Muhammad Abbas: Without the disciplined environment of Patiya Madrasah, this success would have been impossible. Specifically, M***i Manzur Siddique and Maulana Jafar Sadiq (Hafizahumullah) worked tirelessly to mentor us. They didn't just teach the text; they taught us how to comprehend, memorize, and present our answers effectively.
ARCA: What is your advice or message for other students who are currently pursuing Islamic knowledge?
Muhammad Abbas: My advice is to take your studies very seriously. Work with patience and hard work to build a bright future for yourself and the community. Avoid laziness and use your time wisely. Most importantly, keep your intentions pure—seek knowledge only for the sake of Allah and maintain the utmost respect for your teachers.
ARCA: Now that you have completed this major milestone, what are your future plans?
Muhammad Abbas: InshaAllah, I intend to continue my higher studies, with a special focus on 'Ulum-ul-Hadith' (علوم الحديث الشريف). My ultimate goal is to spread the correct teachings of the Quran and Hadith and serve humanity through Dawah and education. May Allah accept me. Ameen.
ARCA: Jazakallahu Khairan for sharing your inspiring journey with us. We are deeply grateful for your time and for the valuable insights you've shared. May Allah (SWT) grant you continued success and make you a source of pride for the entire community.
