5,000 Rohingya refugees in Malaysia may be sent back to Myanmar. Before this happens, we have to ask: back to what?

Repatriation without citizenship, safety, or justice isn’t a solution — it’s a repetition of the same crisis. The homes, land, and lives that were taken have not been returned. The systems that enabled violence against Rohingya communities have not been dismantled. And there is no international body with the power to guarantee anyone’s safety once they cross back over that border.

Real solutions start with self-determination — not returning people to the conditions that displaced them in the first place, and calling it resolution.

We believe dignity isn’t something to be sent back into danger for. It’s something worth building, wherever that has to start.

Joint Statement

We, the undersigned Rohingya Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), express our grave concern over the worsening humanitarian and human rights crisis facing the Rohingya people. We urgently call on the international community to restore humanitarian funding, strengthen protection, ensure accountability, and uphold the rights, dignity, and future of the Rohingya. The time to act is now.

Today, 25 July 2026, Arakan Hope Initiative (AHI) successfully organized the Volunteerism & Community Service Workshop at the Rohingya Refugee Camp, Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh.

The workshop was designed to strengthen participants' knowledge, leadership, and practical skills in volunteerism and community service. Through interactive discussions and practical sessions, participants gained valuable insights and skills to better serve and empower the Rohingya community.

More than 500 lives are feared lost in the Bay of Bengal. Behind this tragedy is a prolonged humanitarian crisis that continues to leave Rohingya refugees without safety, protection, or a durable solution.

🚨 𝘼𝙧𝙖𝙠𝙖𝙣 𝙃𝙤𝙥𝙚 𝙄𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 (𝘼𝙃𝙄) 𝙐𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙡𝙮 𝘾𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖𝙣 𝙀𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙆𝙞𝙙𝙣𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙃𝙪𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜.

Kidnapping and human trafficking continue to pose a serious threat in the Rohingya refugee camps, putting lives at risk and leaving many families in fear and insecurity.

Arakan Hope Initiative (AHI) strongly condemns these crimes and urgently calls on the Government of Bangladesh, law enforcement agencies, humanitarian organizations, and the international community to strengthen protection measures, dismantle criminal networks, and ensure justice for every victim.

Every Rohingya refugee deserves to live in safety, dignity, and freedom from fear.
