How do you survive on $7 a month?

You don’t.

In the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, families are being asked to live on just $0.23 a day. That amount buys only rice and a little oil, nothing more.

No protein.
No vegetables.
No nutrition.

Many are falling into malnutrition.
This is not survival. This is slow suffering.

The tiered food assistance system is pushing already vulnerable communities to the brink forcing families into debt, child labor, and desperate choices just to stay alive.

Rohingya Rights Watch (RRW) calls for urgent action:
➡️ Restore minimum rations to at least $12 for all
➡️ Ensure fair and transparent distribution
➡️ Protect dignity, not just survival

The Rohingya have already lost their homes and rights. They must not now lose their lives to hunger.

ROHINGYA RIGHTS WATCH | EMERGENCY INCIDENT UPDATE OF THE ROHINGYA REFUGEE CAMPS

Camp-17: A severe landslide in Block C04 damaged a refugee shelter and injured one Rohingya resident, who was later rescued by nearby community members.

Camp-09 (Balukhali-1): Heavy rainfall accompanied by a lightning strike in Block A-2 resulted in injuries to six Rohingya refugees, including three children and three women from three families.

The monsoon season continues to pose extreme risks for Rohingya refugees. Families living in fragile shelters on unstable hills remain highly vulnerable to landslides, lightning strikes, and other climate-related disasters.

Urgent humanitarian intervention is needed to strengthen shelter safety, disaster preparedness, and emergency response mechanisms across the camps.

🚨Rohingya Under Siege: Airstrikes, Forced Extortion, and Deadly Protection Failures Define a Week of Escalating Crisis
April 18–24, 2026

Rohingya communities continue to face escalating violence, forced displacement, and systemic neglect both inside Arakan (Rakhine) State and in refugee camps in Bangladesh.

This week, the death of Mohammad Ullah in the Andaman Sea stands as a tragic symbol of failed protection systems. Despite seeking safety, he was left without support like many others now risking their lives at sea.

On the ground, civilians are trapped between indiscriminate airstrikes by the Myanmar Military and extortion, forced taxation, and arbitrary actions by the Arakan Army (AA). Families are being pushed across borders, detained, and sent back into danger, with no safe refuge.

This is not an isolated crisis, it is a systematic and worsening humanitarian emergency.

Immediate action is needed:
• Ensure real protection for refugees
• End exploitation and violence against civilians
• Uphold the principle of non-refoulement
• Hold perpetrators accountable
