Music brought people together once again at Kharangkhali Bazar, Whykong, Teknaf, as YASID hosted the second Songs of Solidarity peace concert under the Youth-Led Peacebuilding and Social Cohesion Project in Bangladesh and Myanmar.

YASID music volunteers, peace builders, community members, youth leaders, SHED representatives, local government representatives and the management team came together through music, participation and shared messages of peace.

A new batch, a new beginning, and another chapter in the journey of learning through music.

On 18 September, YASID’s music programme welcomed a new batch at Charulata Bidyapith, with around 30 children joining the first session with enthusiasm.

As the new learners were introduced to the programme, children from the previous batch performed songs on the penny whistle, sharing their skills and encouraging the newcomers.

The day ended with music, dance, and plenty of smiles. Seeing children move from learners to young role models is a meaningful part of the journey.

The rain changed the location, not the learning.

On 20 September, YASID’s 3rd follow-up SRH session in Mithachhari Kathir Matha moved from an outdoor space to a beneficiary’s home due to sudden rain.

Participants received practical guidance on using a menstrual cycle tracking calendar, followed by a bonus “Healthy Body” lesson on women’s wellbeing, healthy habits, and self-care. Calendars were also distributed to support regular tracking and continued learning at home.

Even when circumstances change, creating space for health awareness can continue where the community is.

International Day of Peace 2026

On this International Day of Peace, YASID expresses our sincere appreciation to all peacebuilders, youth, community leaders, civil society organisations, Government, UN agencies and development partners working to promote peace and social cohesion.

In Cox’s Bazar, where host and Rohingya communities live alongside each other, building trust, understanding and peaceful coexistence requires continuous and meaningful engagement.

Over the years, YASID has contributed through music, theatre, dialogue and other youth-led activities, creating opportunities for local and Rohingya youth and youth organisations to connect, express themselves and strengthen their role as young peacebuilders.

We believe young people should not only participate in peacebuilding they should be meaningfully engaged as leaders and partners.

We encourage UN agencies, INGOs, Government and development partners to continue investing in youth-led initiatives, local organisations, meaningful host–Rohingya engagement and long-term social cohesion.
